Scott Embry’s Wednesday Northam Preview Posted on June 3, 2025June 3, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MARDUSA was a great run on debut behind Our Naughty Secret and subsequent Pinjarra Magic Millions runner-up in Perfectly Proper. Tipped out for a spell, strong trial win and drawn barrier 1 to get first use of the inside fence. Expect he’ll lob leader’s back and with even luck in the straight he looks hard to beat. BLUE MOZART has been nominated twice recently but avoided racing down the 1000m straight. Looks like he’s got gears to wind up through. FLASH DANCER was sharp in his recent trial win in good time. TORA BORA ran well on debut without luck. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – MARDUSA WIN RACE 2 ZORBRIST has always shown ability, but it has been hidden behind really poor manners both pre-race and throughout running. Hopefully that confidence boosting win against the older horses will see him start to figure it all out because he was really dominant late. PATRON EXPRESS was lengths below his best last start. Unsuited by the slow tempo sure but still disappointing. RALLY THE TROOPS beat him by nearly 5L that day. If he can reproduce he’ll be right in the finish. FANCY RED has beaten absolutely nothing so far, nice test for her. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – ZORBRIST WIN RACE 3 APHRODITE MAGIC was brave last start when caught three deep the trip behind Regal Service, who more than franked the form on Monday with a fast finishing second to American Escape. The issue here is obvious – she’s drawn barrier 9/10 so she’s every chance of doing it tough again. Hopefully Keshaw can find a back to follow. IMPRESSIVE JEWEL nearly caused a boilover on debut at odds and then was only run down late at her second outing. Handy trial. STRAPPING PROPHET showed enough in his recent trial to warrant consideration. REGGIO CALABRIA next best. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – APHRODITE MAGIC WIN RACE 4 GIRLS DAY OUT resumed in a 3 year old 0MWLY over 1200m and looked the winner until the last 100m when Lucky I Am found again and worried her out of victory. She was first-up so potentially she needed the run and now back in grade to a C3 against the older horses, dropping 1kg and coming back to 1000m all look major positives for her. MADE IN MEXICO runs for Pike so his booking is a bonus, but he’s not an easy horse to catch. IMAPAGETHREE GIRL has historically gone well fresh and trialled well. LIFEISBUTADREAM gets back from her draw but has a sharp turn of foot. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – GIRLS DAY OUT WIN RACE 5 STARWALKER should be peaking now. He’s a relatively lightly raced staying type who has now had the grounding run over 2000m behind Grand Reserve and Beejay Boy at Pinjarra and should be afforded every chance from barrier 4 at an eachway price. This is definitely winnable. MIRRORSCHINO has won back to back races and gave nothing a look in last start when rolling along at a genuine tempo throughout. Versatile and in form. KERMELIA took a while but broke through in style in her maiden. BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE gives 110%. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – STARWALKER EACHWAY RACE 6 SIMPLY THINKIN’ looks to have found the most suitable race of her preparation. She has been thereabouts all campaign with placings at three of four runs and now over 1400, drawn barrier 1, with Pike sticking the planets look to align for her. Love how hard she chased behind Cherry Can Run at Belmont. LINDEN’S GOLD is more than capable on his day and Ike Racing continue to churn out winners at a high strike rate. BELTA OF A SONG loves Northam and should be peaking now. RANDOM REWARDS was plunged a few times last prep. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 11 Suggested Bet – SIMPLY THINKIN’ WIN RACE 7 NICKELPLAY is well placed here by Neville Parnham. She won a barrier trial over 1000m which indicated she was in for a good preparation and then first-up went to a 3 year old 0MWLY that contained Lucky I Am, Girls Day Out (goes round in Race 4) and subsequent winner Magnique. Was doing her best late and is suited out in trip second-up. OCEAN GODDESS sneaks back into a C1 and if they’re making ground down the centre watch for her late. FIFTH ESSENCE was backed into odds on last start at Belmont. He’s going to be a hit and miss type. ONE PUNCH has returned in excellent order. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – NICKELPLAY WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,7 3,4,6 3 2,4,8,9 Market Market
