Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on May 1, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 THE TOTE CRUSHER looks the logical winner on paper but diving into the shorts in a mile maiden at Albany is fraught with danger. Has put in two good runs since joining Mark Wrights stables and looks hard to beat. VICTORIOUSCHINO trialed well and should roll straight to the front. DEEL RED was beaten a long way from home in his Kalgoorlie debut. REGAL REBELLE made solid ground on debut. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – THE TOTE CRUSHER WIN Race 2 WAR CLASS was eye catching on debut when only let go in the last 100m and really charging through the line clocking a slashing late section. At his second start he was backed strongly and didn’t really get warm. If he opens ~$3 he jumps closer to $2.40. LOKI and BLUE TURNS TO GREY both ran more than credible second placings last start and have both improved with racing. UNIVERSAL VAIN has some ability but gets very fired up. If they get her out of the yard and to the gates she can run a race. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – WAR CLASS WIN Race 3 BENTLEY’S BROTHER has been a Class 1 all preparation and run in the money at his last three. This is the easiest race he has seen and he draws the inside. If he is going to win a second race it is here. ONE POINT LADY is a 3 year old who has not quite returned as well as expected this campaign after a fresh win. TOP AGENT is capable of running a race. SORAMIMI has been very consistent all campaign and this is not a deal harder than maiden company. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – BENTLEY’S BROTHER WIN Race 4 CANNA LILLY is arguably the most consistent horse in the region and continues to run big races as an 8 year old mare. She is versatile and can race on speed or lob out the back and come with a run. After the claim she is extremely well placed. BOXONLUCY drew wide last start and had to go back to last. Unsuited in that and far better drawn here. DEFIANTLY has jumped out of the ground to win her last two and can do so again. CHASING CHAOS has been up for months but continues to race well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – CANNA LILLY WIN Race 5 CAPTIVATED POINT lumped 61.5kg in a fast run 1000m race last start. The form has held up with Wanna Be Good running good races in town and Cooper Fury far from disgraced in a strong C3 last start. Drops in weight and if he gets any luck will charge at them late. TRANQUILLA SUNRISE goes up in weight again but the way he is racing he will be hard to reel in again. Has been flying in the wet and unlikely to get those conditions. BLIZZARD EXPRESS bombed the start at his most recent, previous win strong. CANDELIGHT STAR carries weight and always a blow out. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – CAPTIVATED POINT WIN Race 6 SPEED BANDIT likely opens more than 20-1 and the last two efforts have both been excellent. This race is even but certainly not overly deep and with the right run and right ride from Tayla Stone can blow them out. WILLOW RIVER has seemingly turned a corner since joining the Bec Wallrodt stable and can run another race here drawn soft. Strong maiden winner and then more than serviceable first start out of maiden grade. TRIGGERFISH won two from three last preparation and trialed well for his return. ATHLONE CASTLE again draws the carpark but has ability. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPEED BANDIT EACHWAY Race 7 MAGIC OPUS has come of age this preparation. Always showed ability in the early days in the metro area and then had a long injury enforced lay off after joining the Peter Western stable. Can make it a winning hattrick, IT’S NOT TRADING is always capable in this grade but will need luck from the draw. READ THE RIOT ACT improved ten fold after arriving with Roy Rogers. Can go on with it. APOLLO won well at his Steve Wolfe debut and in the post race interview the Great Southern leading trainer gave him a huge plug going forward. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – MAGIC OPUS EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,8 4,5,7 2,5,11 1,2,7,8,9,11 Market Market
