Scott Embry’s Thursday Albany Preview Posted on March 16, 2022March 16, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BACK IN BLUE ran really well on debut when finishing third to Sneaky Fox (won another two since) and Broadway Brenda (subsequent winner as well). Went very poorly at start number two at Barker but willing to forgive and forget and follow up on the debut run. Drawn right alongside the likely favourite and hopefully can give it a shake. FINEST CLOBBER went under first-up at $2.90 and under second-up at $1.80. Never looked like running down She’s Artie and that’s seriously questionable form. WICKED COOL looked good in a recent 1000m trial at Albany. Trialled in Pacifiers and wears them for his debut. TAKE ME THERE next best. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – BACK IN BLUE WIN RACE 2 KING OF THE JIVE ran well from the breeze at Barker two starts ago behind Risky Lyrics and then wasn’t quite the same last start when never looking likely behind Final Plan and Urban Warrior. Tash Faithful sides up with BOBALONG BOB which might be a lead in itself but in a weak maiden we’ll stick and see if he can reproduce the Mt Barker run. TEMPTEST MISS was on a 24 hour back-up last start. Super effort from both horse and trainer and looks like she’ll pick up a maiden. BOBALONG BOB ran well first-up and should only improve with the extra furlong. MY CONVICTION has been very one paced at trials. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – KING OF THE JIVE WIN RACE 3 SCREAM IN BLUE was able to run second in the Mt Barker Cup last start. With both Chiclett and Sowar going super on the weekend we’ll side up with the Barker Cup form as the best form reference in this race and on the minimum, he looks more than capable. EURASIA finished second to Blackwater Bay two starts ago in a 64+ 1850m at Barker and then went to the 2000m of the Mt Barker Cup when finishing sixth. Going well and always hard to beat in these Great Southern staying races. SOVIET SPY drops 3.5kg and is starting to show a better turn of acceleration. Penny might be dropping. WILD FUSION is again on trial at 1900m. Jury is very much out on whether or not he will stick the trip. Rarely taken out past a mile so we’ll wait and see. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – SCREAM IN BLUE WIN RACE 4 HOOLAHOOPS is going super for Angela Smith. The win three starts ago needs to be seen to be believed and then was ridden upside down at Belmont Park in a complete forgive. Punters launched her last start and she was caught three deep the trip and just kept sneaking forward in running. Think she’s suited by the hot speed in this. COUNT THE SESSIONS showed them a clean set of plates last start and never looked like being run down at any stage. Expecting him to come out running again and try to reproduce the effort at a mile. FAMILY CONNECTION ran second to the in form Stella Fair in the Rose of York. Should get a lovely run from the barrier here. SHOWADDWADDY has gone to a new level with SJ Wolfe. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 12 – 5 Suggested Bet – HOOLAHOOPS WIN RACE 5 CAPTAIN SHARMANE has been costly to punters this preparation but willing to give her one last chance in this moderate Albany C2. First-up in a C3 at Belmont finished second to Astrape, then second to Halatorion in a C2 at Albany and since then has contested a C3 at Belmont and a C5 at Pinjarra. Brad Rawiller on Captain Sharmane and not Luvachat gives us the extra little push we need to follow. LUVACHAT has promised to win a maiden all preparation and finally put it all together and demolished them last start. Clearly a quirky animal. Brad Rawiller off = we’re off too. RAGING ROCKET is always there abouts and looks to get a gun run. SPEEDY PYE has been racing well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – CAPTAIN SHARMANE WIN RACE 6 SNEAKY FOX trialled up super under Maddy Cornick back at Belmont and Lark Hill in December and then did a lot wrong for his first few outings. Broke maiden status at his fifth outing and since has won a pair of C2 events. Brad Rawiller jumps aboard replacing a serious stiff Jade McNaught and Sneaky Fox looks a big chance of making it four in a line. STARAUTHROESS is hard to catch but from barrier 1 he should have no excuses at all. He will track them up and has a solid turn of foot on his day. VRUM has turned a corner. Once a long time maiden, now a super honest and tough customer. CAROLINA REAPER has found form again and can be very hard to run down. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet – SNEAKY FOX WIN RACE 7 NATURAL SPICE is going well for the new yard and from the barrier should track up in behind them and give an eachway sight. Third behind Inflation and Brave Contender, third behind Count The Sessions and Art Admirer. Looks handy form for this and likely goes round an eachway quote again. SNIPPAGEM and FEELS HOT were both good runs at Ascot on Sunday and both back-up off the 4 day spin around. SNIPPAGEM can roll forward and FEELS HOT showed big improvement. GINGER GREEN is talented but horribly wayward. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – NATURAL SPICE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 4,5,9,10,12 1,2,8 3,5,6,8,9,12 1,5,6,11 Market Market
