Scott Embry’s Sunday York Preview Posted on September 11, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LIES ‘N’ DECEPTION comes from weaker classes than most of his opposition but he should in theory be a great York type of horse. Jump, run and then kick into the corner when they start to run down the hill. Drops from 1400 back to 1200 and Chloe Azzopardi looks like she has been convinced to drive out to York for the one ride. Noted front running apprentice and should give them something to run down. FOXY ROYALE is an 8 year old mare but she has been in wonderful form of late and importantly is a winner at the track. FORK HANDLES is quick and gets weight relief with Laqdar Ramoly going on. FRIAR’S GIFT hasn’t seen a race of this nature for a long time. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – LIES ‘N’ DECEPTION WIN RACE 2 YAMATAI is likely to be fairly short but she should take a lot of beating in this. Ran well first-up when only gunned down late by Great Waters and then was nosed out by subsequent C1 winner Allez Allez. Got too far back last start when dominated by talented gelding Enduring Moment. That should be too strong form here. TRUE ORA was sent to Kal last Sunday for an easy kill but nothing went right for her and she couldn’t get into a slowly run race. GALAHAD scratched from Thursday to save for this. SIPARIO an improver at odds. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – YAMATAI WIN RACE 3 REACTION is no stranger to York having been to the track 7 times. Yet to win one but has placed on four occasions and there is no doubt that he is in career best form. Ran fourth behind Son of a God and Sir Mambo in a Saturday Graduation four starts ago and last time out hit the line behind Puli. Super form for a 46+ and with luck in running he’ll take holding out. DEMERITISE resumes without a trial but always showed ability in Albany and always went round at a short quote. Like Chloe Azzopardi in R1 Shaun McGruddy goes for only one ride. NORTON is proving hard to catch but should go well. VALIDATION can run a race for a new yard. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – REACTION WIN RACE 4 WARRCARRCOMBO resumed first-up no trial for a new stable and was well supported at an eachway quote. Ran a really nice race behind Uncanny Timing and Southstar and this looks a far more suitable assignment. If she can hold a position in running she’ll be hard to beat. Only concern is how long the truck is parked in the sun outside the Bakers Hill Pie Shop on the way there. PLAYING FOR KEEPS has the blinkers put back on and comes back sharply in trip. Looking to lead them up. DE PLACE ran some nice races in her first preparation but is drawn a little sticky. ANDREITTE trialled alright. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – WARRCARRCOMBO WIN RACE 5 AIN’T I A WOMAN is an intriguing acceptor. She went around a $4.40 favourite on debut in a 3 year old midweeker and then has since been back to trials with the blinkers on. In that trial Craig Staples rode her for speed and she was far too brilliant for them. You’d think he’ll look to clear out from the wide gate and let her roll. Likely to be paddling late but may steal it midrace. ALMATALK has a senior rider on and a brilliant barrier to stalk Ain’t A Woman. Always showed glimpses of ability. DEVIL’S DUST is a brilliant looking specimen and he ran well first-up behind Nurhaci. CONVENTION next best but a step behind the top 3. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – AIN’T I A WOMAN WIN RACE 6 FROSTY HEART looks the one on paper. Effort two starts ago behind Montelena in a 72+ was credible and then absolutely demolished them in C3 company when well supported in betting and smashing the clock. He’ll settle right over the pace (if not lead) and takes serious running down. If he reproduces his last start effort Richie might even get a Coffee Van plug into the call. MAGIC LAS VEGAS is building into the campaign and Ryan Hill rides York and Narrogin particularly well. PLEAD THE FIFTH has great York form and that puts her in the mix. SEA SPRING steps up in distance but has been hitting the line. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – FROSTY HEART WIN RACE 7 I’M ICEY looks extremely well placed to score. His last win was in this exact grade back at Belmont earlier in the year and his effort three starts ago to run fourth behind Don’s Legacy and Bedouin Belle was super. He leads them up and from there he’s clearly the one to beat. METALLIC QUEEN likely ends up three back the fence which is a stick position at York with such a tight turn for home but she loves the track and ran well fresh. REVEUSE is first-up, no trial at 1300m but raced well in stronger company last prep. AMBER MAMBA lightly raced and next best. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – I’M ICEY WIN RACE 8 APPARITION hasn’t troubled the scorers first-up or second-up. Was beaten first-up by 7L at 1400m and then 12L last start at a mile but both of those outings were on Soft6 going and he now has a senior rider on, back onto a Good4 and is undefeated at York. This race would have been on the cards for a while and he’ll be on the move at the 600. FROSTY BAY is going well and could be the blowout. Might sneak under the radar from a market perspective. WEONA BRUTE is only at his fifth career outing. This is an ask but he looks talented enough. BLAST was the target of money first-up and his East Coast form is good. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – APPARITION WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,6,8 1,3,6 3,5,7 1,2,5,7,10 Market Market
