Michael Heaton’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 4, 2026June 4, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 BATISTA joins the yard of Peter Fernie first up and ran third to So Si God and Miss Finkmeyer in 1200m 3YO 0MWLY event at Ascot first up last preparation. If he can reproduce that fresh run here he’ll be hard to beat. DIRECT DEBIT went much better last start and can park just off the speed. RULE THE REALM went too hard in a fast-run race last time out and now has a couple of gear changes as well as the chance to find the rail in front. GOLD LILLY a watch first up, no trial at her WA debut. Numbers: 3-4-2-5 Suggested Bet – BATISTA WIN RACE 2 MONTY ZOOMER didn’t look quite the same horse off a double back-up last start in what was his third run in 14 days. He still stuck on for third despite laying out under pressure on straightening and the fortnight between runs here hopefully sees him bounce back to his best and prove hard to run down like his previous 2. MOUNTAIN ASH caused the upset in that race and whilst he’s now up 3.5kg, he meets Monty Zoomer on the same weight terms and has drawn to stalk his every move again. RUNFORROB ran all the fastest closing sectionals when jumping out of the ground late to be narrowly beaten in the same race and now gets a 3.5kg swing on his main rivals. PLEASE MIZTER was better ridden quieter last start. Numbers: 1-2-6-4 Suggested Bet – MONTY ZOOMER WIN RACE 3 QUEEN SELYSE joins the yard of Phil Naylor and brings better form than most of her rivals. She’s finished top 4 at 5 of her past 7 starts in stronger company, now gets blinkers on for the first time and has the speed to work across from her awkward draw in a race without much natural pace. MAD SPITFIRE was knocking on the door for a first win then was a big forgive last start when getting held up at a crucial stage from the box seat. Just needs some luck from a tough draw. BLOOD BROTHER is 6 weeks between runs following a similarly unlucky last-start effort and gets Tash Faithfull aboard. GRACEFUL LASS gets blinkers on at her first start for Peter Fernie and both efforts at her last campaign are good enough to be winning races. Numbers: 7-3-5-10 Suggested Bet – QUEEN SELYSE WIN RACE 4 ALOTOFBANTER is closing in on 1,200 days since her last win but she’s run close seconds at her past 2 starts and maps to get another lovely run here. She beat home all 4 of her rivals here that she faced last start and she should be in a position to strike. VIRESHA joins the yard of Brett Drury and should be a nice acquisition. She’ll likely get back in the field but she brings superior formlines to her rivals in this C1 event. SPANGLEDSTAR is going super but she needs everything to go right in order for her to win with her negative racing pattern. The day she gets a clear run at them she’ll break through again. MISS LOTTIE makes her WA debut with solid east coast formlines and she appears to have enough tactical speed to roll forward. Numbers: 4-3-2-7 Suggested Bet – ALOTOFBANTER EACH-WAY RACE 5 DOOR BUSTER has to tick the 1200m box but going off her last-start effort when reeling off all the fastest closing sectionals for a strong 1100m win at her first start for Peter Fernie, it shouldn’t be an issue. She now stays in the same grade, maps to get the run of the race behind what should be a genuine tempo and her earlier Perth form suggests she’s a progressive enough type who can go on with it in Kal. DANCEWITHME rises in class but ran a length second to Stylin’ 2 starts back then got the job done last time out. DIEGO DYNAMITE was good behind Door Buster last start, meets her 2kg better and can lead again. TWIST OF GOLD has been luckless lately but now drops back to 58+ company for the first time since she won at this track/grade/distance 7 starts ago. Numbers: 2-3-7-1 Suggested Bet – DOOR BUSTER WIN RACE 6 JUST SUBLIME has been hitting the line as well as anything lately and the step back up to a mile here looks much more suitable for her. 2 starts back she ran third to Monty Zoomer and Space Academy in a higher graded 58+ at this track/distance then she got back over 1400m last time out and was doing her best work through the line. IDEALLY was a bit plain second-up off 7 days after an encouraging fresh run but is now back in grade, up to a mile and 3 weeks between runs which looks more suitable. Capable of bouncing back. LUMINOUS LADY got into all sorts of bother at her last outing and has been racing like the step to 1600m will be right up her alley. SO MANY STORIES appears to have turned the corner. Numbers: 2-1-4-6 Suggested Bet – JUST SUBLIME WIN RACE 7 STYLIN’ has won her last 4 on the bounce, including the $100,000 Provincial Series Final at Belmont at her last start. She’s also undefeated from 4 starts at Kalgoorlie and whilst this is her first crack at 70+ company, she sneaks in on the 54kg minimum and looks a Hannans Handicap horse in the making. BOAB BOY caused a boilover first up then was completely luckless second up when travelling well and but being blocked for the entirety of the straight. SCOTTISH LAIRD improved sharply dropping in grade second up and now steps back up to 70+ class but drops 5.5kg and should get the run of the race. CALIFORNICATION was a big run first up at Ascot when running the fastest closing sectionals and finishing only 2.5L off Hot And High before a torrid run last start. He now returns to his favourite track where he’s won 4 from 6 and should be a big improver. Numbers: 11-2-8-9 Suggested Bet – STYLIN’ WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4,7,8 2,3,7 1,2,4 2,8,11 Market Market
