Michael Heaton’s Sunday Roebourne Preview Posted on June 5, 2026June 5, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 Tricky race with no natural leader. MINOZZA was good first up when settling handy and sticking on for third over 1100m. He debuted over 1400m last preparation so the step to 1400m here shouldn’t concern. EIGHT OUNCES never looked comfortable at Roebourne last start when a beaten favourite. He was good at Port Hedland first up and could bounce back if he can kick through to lead from his inside draw. WING IT ran the fastest last 400m of the meeting last start and will appreciate the rise in distance. WATERSHED WISDOM was well beaten first up after settling in the second half but has led a race previously so they might try push the button early. Numbers: 3-2-4-8 Suggested Bet – MINOZZA WIN RACE 2 DENVER AFFAIR looks well placed at her third start back. First up ran third to Gold Spy in a fast-run 58+ at Carnarvon, second-up led them up and ran second to Fameux in a 56+ at Port Hedland and now drops sharply in grade to a C1 with 57kg after the claim. WORKING CLASS GIRL found the front at Port Hedland last start and won well. There’s more speed engaged here and she’s drawn outside of it so she’ll have to burn early. CHANTILLY GIRL creates her own luck in front and is going well. DARK OPAL is still a maiden but has placed at 4 of her past 6 starts. Numbers: 1-7-4-5 Suggested Bet – DENVER AFFAIR WIN RACE 3 FAVOURED SON bounced straight to the top first up and won well. He stays at the same track/grade/distance, only goes up 1.5kg and has drawn the best of the on-speed runners. STAR POWER was good at her first 2 starts back then covered ground as a beaten favourite last start. She’s drawn better here and drops 1.5kg after the claim. ESQUEL drops in grade and distance and will ride the speed. IMPERIALIZE was much better last start but the drop back to 1100m looks short of his best. Numbers: 3-1-2-6 Suggested Bet – FAVOURED SON WIN RACE 4 Interesting race with only 1 horse inside the handicap. REGINALD is that horse yet carries only 1kg more than the race minimum after Jason Li’s claim. He’s steadily improved into his preparation and did his best work through the line last start. GRANITE ROCK was good first up then got caught deep second up as a beaten favourite but should be able to either lead or breeze this. MAGIC MIKEY has his first start for Michael Ball’s yard and profiles like he’ll be a handy acquisition. HEZAZEB is getting closer to breaking his 1,016-day winning drought. Numbers: 1-2-4-3 Suggested Bet – REGINALD EACH-WAY RACE 5 TORQUED UP has been solid at both starts back and now drops 2kg after the claim staying in the grade which gives him a 3.5kg swing on Dawn Retreat for being beaten only a length. CASSENITE backs up and drops in grade after finishing third to Fameux in a 56+ last Sunday and is another who gets in nicely after the claim. DAWN RETREAT caused an upset first up and now concedes negative weight swings whilst also drawing the outside but he has a good record at Roebourne. HOPE TO ADMIRE beat a subsequent winner in his maiden win first up but has drawn awkwardly outside of the speed in a much deeper race here. Numbers: 5-2-8-6 Suggested Bet – TORQUED UP WIN RACE 6 CHEDDAR BOB bolted in first up at this track/grade/distance and only rises 1kg as well as drawing the best of the on-speed runners. Very hard to beat. FRIES WITH THAT ran second in that race when resuming off a 7-month spell without a trial. He’s drawn well again, gets a 1.5kg swing on Cheddar Bob and has the natural benefit of a run under the belt. PERCUSSION PRINCE has returned in great form this preparation but has now drawn outside of the speed in a tougher assignment. PUDDIN ‘N’ PIE was no match for Percussion Prince last start but gets a 3.5kg swing on him now. Numbers: 3-9-6-11 Suggested Bet – CHEDDAR BOB WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3 1,2,3,4 2,5,8 3,6,9 Market Market
