Michael Heaton’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on June 4, 2026June 4, 2026 | Posted by Michael Heaton RACE 1 DUST ASIDE resumes and has his first start on the dirt but he brings solid formlines and is a speedy type who can punch forward. His last start was in a high-rating 1000m Maiden at Ascot where he ran fourth to Written Words/Just Walter John/Maythisbetheone and he has the right racing pattern for Broome. ARCTIC SNOW also brings good grass form first up but likely positions up in the second half of the field and she’ll be a lot better over more ground. FINADO trialled up well and can ride the speed for a long way. ARDUETT has options from her inside draw and has placed at 2 of her 3 Broome starts to date. Numbers: 2-8-1-4 Suggested Bet – DUST ASIDE WIN RACE 2 CRUISE TO VICTORY tramped 3-deep first up and went down a fighting narrow second to Climb On Top where he gapped the third-placed horse by almost 8L. He’s now drawn better, gets a 1kg swing on Climb On Top and can turn the tables. KING CARTEL has his first start on the dirt and has the right racing pattern and profile to produce a forward showing first up. CLIMB ON TOP was able to kick through to lead and then hang on first up and whilst he’s now up 2kg, he’s drawn soft and the extra 100m suits him better. BAYEZID hasn’t fired a shot for 12 months but the best version of him would see him well placed here. Numbers: 7-6-3-1 Suggested Bet – CRUISE TO VICTORY WIN RACE 3 BIG SHOTS tramped deep first up, no trial at 1300m and stuck on quite well for second. He now drops back to 1200m with a run under his belt and whilst he hasn’t won a race since his Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic triumph 840 days ago, each of his 5 dirt runs for Darryn Pateman’s yard over the past 12 months have been solid. DELICATE RULER crossed and led them a merry dance first up over 1000m and is the one to beat. The step to 1200m is more in his wheelhouse, he drops 2kg and he has the speed to work across. ZORBRIST joins the yard of SJ Miller and is a consistent type but looks destined to endure a tough run at his first start on the dirt. THE TOP BAR rides the speed. Numbers: 2-4-3-11 Suggested Bet – BIG SHOTS EACH-WAY RACE 4 SHASFA comes out of the extremely fast-run 1000m 58+ event at the opening meeting where she ran a closing third and she looks beautifully placed dropping back into 50+ grade now. She has options from her good draw and looks a nice each-way play in an open race. COONDLE has a sticky gate to navigate but he was solid first up and brings strong grass form for this level. MRS KANGAROO is a 5-time winner who is highly suited in 50+ grade and she’ll be prominent in the run. SEEYOUATTHESESSION probably should’ve finished a bit closer at his return and can be an improver second-up. Numbers: 6-5-2-3 Suggested Bet – SHASFA EACH-WAY RACE 5 SCHUHBECK is harder to catch than Kozzie Pickett but he was brave first up and he could take advantage of the lack of natural speed in this race by rolling forward from his outside draw. Majority of his Broome runs last preparation had merit and he can give a sight here if he can land in the first 2 in running. LEAVING LAS VEGAS hit the line well in his first 2 starts for SJ Miller and looks much better suited stepping up to 1400m. One to watch as the distances increase. ACES TO WIN similarly another improver second-up and with the benefit of a dirt run under his belt. MATSOKA should be able to roll forward here. Numbers: 8-1-5-6 Suggested Bet – SCHUHBECK EACH-WAY RACE 6 GREAT EDITION is a versatile and durable type who could be a nice acquisition to SJ Miller’s Broome team. He was probably a length off his best at his last preparation but his earlier form measures up well here and he also has tactical speed if they want to push the button early. BORDER FORCE is a significant class dropper and the step to 1400m suits but 61.5kg is a leveller. ONLY EYES FOR HIM was well beaten at his first dirt start but now drops back from a 70+ to a 58+, drops 0.5kg to only 53kg and is a likely improver second-up. IMA WILD GIRL was in an awkward position last start but is capable of sharp improvement if she’s able to kick through to lead this time. Numbers: 8-1-10-6 Suggested Bet – GREAT EDITION WIN RACE 7 SPICE IS RIGHT started a drifting favourite first up and was fractious in the barriers before bombing the start and he was never in the hunt from there. He actually did an okay job to make late ground and he won his first 2 starts at Broome last year in impressive fashion when leading throughout so he’s capable of bouncing back if he can jump cleanly and find the top. KINGS CALL bolted in that race first up and whilst he’s now up 2kg, the manner in which he won suggests he has plenty more in store. PLAYING AROUND likely gets back from the draw at his first start for SJ Miller but will look to launch late. CHEVAL SAVANT an exotics inclusion at odds off a freshen up. Numbers: 1-3-7-10 Suggested Bet – SPICE IS RIGHT EACH-WAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,5,6,8 1,5,8 1,8,10 1,3,5,7,10 Market Market
