Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on June 4, 2026June 5, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 Didn’t get the benefit of seeing COPPER HEAD LADY (3) return last Saturday after Bunbury was washed out, on ability this looks a perfect race for her, she has speed and the lead looks to be there and she will be hard to beat but her trial was just okay which is a glaring concern if you’re diving into shorter odds. MY HAMMER DOWN (8) is a nice type who won well in moderate time on return, should bounce of that well and get a further look at him here. CALL TO ARMS (1) has the speed to lead early and get the right run, good place chance. OFFICIAL ROCK (5) is ready to win but can’t do her own dirty work so the draw is challenging, TAKE A HIKE (7) falls into the same boat. CHEKKER (10) a novelty chance with SUGAR STREET (12). Tips: 3 8 1 5 Suggested Bet: CALL TO ARMS (1) to place. Race 2 OPAL HUNTER (2) has been luckless and finally gets the draw to show his speed to lead and from there he really should win, has been promising and looks his race gifted on a silver platter for mine. A LITTLE SILENCE (9) is a consistent performer, will have to do some work in the run but can stick on. WICKED HUSTLER (4) first up for the Bond stable and has returned well in recent runs, respect here. HAVEYOUMETTED (1) up in grade but has a soft draw, novelty chance. ARTFUL MAJOR (5), CAMS BOULDER (6), OUR VINNIE (7) and BETTOR ARCADE (12) all top 4 players with the right run but they need some luck. Tips: 2 4 9 12 Suggested Bet: OPAL HUNTER (2) to win. Race 3 Fascinating contest as SPYGLASS (1) holds a lot of interest for mine, he has no form to speak of but was heavily backed last time he was able to lead and got the cash, expecting there to be market support for him and he holds the key. HEAVENLY GIPSY (2) is ready to win but might find it hard getting past the pole marker making her job a lot harder. HOTLY PURSUED (7) is a speedster off the arm but comes in first up and there is speed underneath him, major player if he could cross. LAVRA JOE (11) first up and the draw is perfect for his return, normally needs a couple of hit outs to show his best. MACHNIFICENT (3), PETES HONOUR (6) and ALCOPONY (10) all chances with the right runs, the latter should get a good run. Tips: 1 2 7 10 Suggested Bet: SPYGLASS (1) to win. Race 4 A lot of speed in this. YOURE SO FINE (1) has only drawn once in WA since coming here and handed up but that was on a track with a sprint lane, his form has been good and think they’ll be keen to hold up and if he does, very hard to run down. BRICKIES DREAM (2) was sound in his recent trial and has plenty of speed but may be on the softer side given he is first up. MAD MONDAY (4) will be the one to beat if he could cross, start is key for him, hit the line well last run. CHIVALRY (3) could burrow up and be handy as well, start is quite interesting to this race. GEE HEZA SPORT (7) was a big effort to win last start and has proven his class on more than one occasion. SWEET PINS (5) and LINCOLN LOU (8) are snipers and will be running on. Tips: 1 7 4 5 Suggested Bet: YOURE SO FINE (1) to win. Race 5 BOY BLUE (12) is a versatile type who has incredible high speed, happy to play him again as he steps up to the longer trip and looks to be enough tempo to bring him right into it. BEETASTIC (1) has the draw to lead, steps from the mile to the mile and a half and will be a good test for her to see how she absorbs the pressure. SUN PUBLISHER (10) is racing well and just needs some daylight to feature at some odds. IM MASSIMO (4) was a nice win on return after such a long time away, will have bounced off that run well and expect further improvement. LUVBITE (8) is racing well and is proven at the trip. RAKLOU (2) has had her chances. FOLLOW ROCKNROLL (5) a novelty chance, racing well enough to feature with the right run. Tips: 12 10 1 4 Suggested Bet: BOY BLUE (12) to win. Race 6 Not a lot of exposed form in play here but that’s part of the fun. HILLVIEW BONDI (8) has run well although unplaced since returning and looks to be driven like the best horse and think he could cause a few headaches to front runners here. SKYLORD (10) was solid on return, and this looks more suitable to him, think he’ll finish strongly. GULLY GUM (4) is a major player if he could cross but it could be problematic with the out of form HOLD THE AMMO (1) drawn well and might look to lead again. DAWSON (3) comes in fresh and looks a novelty chance. IMA FIVESTAR GENERAL (5) comes in first up and was awfully unlucky last time out, suitable grade to run well even though he is fresh. DELULU (9) tough draw against a quality field but has fitness on her side and RAGAZZO MACH (7) could improve second up. Tips: 8 10 5 4 Suggested Bet: HILLVIEW BONDI (8) to win. Race 7 ROX THE WORLD (11) is crying out to win one and think he can punch through and be close enough to them in this and could be some tempo on to suit him, go well. KINKY (12) has depth and should run a bold race, she can be put into more so than ROX THE WORLD (11). YAWOMA (2) can push hard for the top but normally finds a couple better. SAMMY SUFFARELL (5) would be very hard to beat if he could cross, think they’ll roll the dice in this, good on speed type. Novelty chances to ADMIRAL DARCY (4), CEE DEE THREE (8) and FRANCO MECCA (10) but he is following out the wrong pony this evening. Tips: 11 12 5 2 Suggested Bet: ROX THE WORLD (11) each way. Race 8 AMERICAN EYES (9) has the class and depth to overcome the wider draw in this and can be driven forward and is a big chance to find the top, she wanted to hang quite noticeably in her last two races and think they’ll be keen to get forward tonight. UP AND ALIVE (8) might have a similar thought process and looks suited in this grade, major player. DISPATCHER (1) has the gate speed and form to fire out and wait for a horse of their calibre to hand up too, good place chance. HONOUR THE EAGLE (2) might test her early with DIAMONDSAREFOREVER (6) who was a decent effort off a soft run in last week’s mares feature. JILL MACH (10) a novelty chance, she is racing well and has the soft draw. MINOR CATASTROPHE (11) and MISS UNEEK (12) both novelty hopes too. Tips: 9 8 1 10 Suggested Bet: AMERICAN EYES/UP AND ALIVE to Quinella. Race 9 DOUBLE PARKED (2) gets the draw to work to the top and show his best, he has been doing all the work and not been disgraced, gets the chance here. ULTIMATE MIKI (3) is hard to get a gauge on, his wins have been good and battled on soundly last time out, much prefer him in the lead. RUMBLE STRIP (4) will be close enough, good test for him but may not be able to control the race from the breeze here. LAST HARD COPY (7) is highly capable, he could fly under the radar here and is versatile enough to upset them. BELLY UP (8) will also be running on from the rear of the field, he has been racing well. KURIOUS BOY (5) a novelty chance. Tips: 2 7 4 3 Suggested Bet: DOUBLE PARKED (2) to win. Race 10 MYSTERY FRED (5) has the advantage over the main rivals here and might be driven to keep that advantage, has high speed but has a great deal of ability over here in the west. MCGEE (6) is two from two since coming to WA, has strings to his bow and will be getting better, this will be a fascinating contest. ALDEBARAN BOYD (7) looks the third stringer to these at this stage, won’t be too far away. LOTS OF CHANGE (4) and LUVAFLAIR (8) both novelty chances. Tips: 5 6 7 4 Suggested Bet: MYSTERY FRED/MCGEE to Quinella. Market Market
