Scott Embry’s Sunday Pinjarra Preview Posted on February 23, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GOLD VANCOUVER finished second on debut splitting All Play and Playing Games in a 3 year old 0MWLY before heading to a Saturday contest when less than 2L off Generosity and subsequent Placid Ark Stakes winner, Winterbottom/Gold Rush placed Ripcord. Great race form, David Harrison’s horses fly up the 1000m straight and she’s drawn the ‘right’ side. Plenty to like. PIN DEEP drops into a maiden for the first time in his career and trialled really soft. Must respect. CLOSE TALKER was a nice jump and run trial and may look to hug the outside fence. MAIDS TESTIMONY went very close on debut back in July. Numbers: 11 – 3 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – GOLD VANCOUVER WIN RACE 2 FAMOUS DAIN is going from 1300m straight out to 1600m but he really impressed on debut when held up for the majority of the home straight before launching late to finish fourth behind Starating and subsequent midweek winner Another Strike. Looks to have upside and Chris Parnham has jumped off stablemate Manhattan Jewel to retain the ride. MANHATTAN JEWEL was hammered in betting at her last start into a ridiculously short quote. She lead, she controlled, she got headed and she never gave up the fight but she went under at $1.30 and looked to have every chance. WESTERN POWER looks like he’ll appreciate the step up in trip. WIN TO RETIRE is trying hard. Numbers: 7 – 12 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – FAMOUS DAIN WIN RACE 3 GRACE ROSE trialled soft recently behind impressive debutante Firm Talk and had no visors in that trial either. With the claim for Luke Campbell she carries only 53.5kg, she’s drawn to get a decent run in transit and first-up last campaign she finished third behind Hymns Of Eladdair and Seven Iron. Scratched from Wednesday to save for this. NO BID did it tough on debut. He sat parked three deep the trip without any cover at any stage and was brave to beat home half the field. IMAROCK GOD and PERCUSSION PRINCE both come through the same 1000m trial at Belmont Park and there was nothing between them as they matched motors up the home straight. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GRACE ROSE EACHWAY RACE 4 MY HIDDEN UNIVERSE looks to have found his race. First-up he ran into Sensessional on a day where it was difficult to lead and win, second-up he ran into Papavero Princess who won again in a C1 on Wednesday at Ascot to frank the form and now third-up he gets out to 1400m and can take his time to roll across the face of the field. Looks a great chance for him to break through. IVANA’S GIFT just peaked on the run second-up. She’s returned in good order and should get the right run. WAYNE THE PAIN was over 5L behind My Hidden Universe last start but can improve with Paul Harvey and blinkers. FLASH OF DALLAS trialled like 1400m first-up would suit. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 3 – 14 Suggested Bet – MY HIDDEN UNIVERSE WIN RACE 5 FRAPPUCCINO is the full brother to Marocchino and made his debut over 1000m at Bunbury in a 3 year old Plate when charging home into second behind Tycoon Harry (winner of three races already and goes around at Ascot on Saturday). His L600 was 32.85 and he went into every Black Book in the State. 1000 to 1400 is an ask and barrier 14 in a capacity line-up is no help but he looks to have raw ability. MISS WALL STREET charged to the line fresh and gave the indication that 1400m would be right up her alley. Gets a soft run and clearly has a turn of foot. RIGHT TO SILENCE is going better than numerical form suggests. SASSY ROXY was alongside Miss Wall Street last start. Numbers: 7 – 13 – 14 – 15 Suggested Bet – FRAPPUCCINO WIN RACE 6 TIN CHOOKS rises up sharply in grade from a C1 into a C5, however, he has a 3kg claiming apprentice being replaced by Paul Harvey, he gets another 100m to run them down and he looks better suited in a smaller line-up without any stars. Gets his chance after running encouraging minors at two of his last three. TALLANGATTA is on a 4 day back-up from Wednesday at Ascot. He’s 1/1 at the Pinjarra Scarpside 1600 and he’s a previous winner off 5-days. Expect some support for him. LORD GANNICUS is hard to catch but has blinkers on and a claim. FLASH DUCATI should be nearly ready. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – TIN CHOOKS WIN RACE 7 ALBRIGHT was a ‘be on me next start’ run at Belmont behind talented filly Angel Undercover. The obvious concern is barrier 12 of 12 on a track that occasionally doesn’t suit those getting back. If they’re making ground – happy to bet, if they’re not – happy to sit out. DANCING CHOOSE is having his second start for Grant & Alana Williams and comes through a high rating C1 that contained Cheeky Charlotte, Sunbronzed and Lord Vampi who all race at Ascot on Saturday. LAND OF FIRE loves the Scarpside but is drawn poorly. CHERRY CAN RUN was a great trial. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – ALBRIGHT WIN RACE 8 FAT ROY SLIM looks to have found his most suitable race in a while. First-up in a C3 he got home nicely, second-up in a 60+ Grad he flashed up into fourth behind Odinaka and last start he was held-up in the home straight when only 4.5L off Alaskan. These 50+ open ratings staying races bring wildly clashing form references and make for really competitive races. One of many winning chances. SILVER BACK JACK finished second to stablemate Bonjoy last start. Has to carry 60kg over 2200m but he’s in great form. DUCHEES DEMERIT and MELARAB went to the line together last start and there won’t be much between them here either. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – FAT ROY SLIM EACHWAY RACE 9 AZTEC RULER didn’t wear blinkers in his recent trial so while he was only fair to the eye happy to suggest that on race day with a set of shades and an ideal barrier draw that he’ll measure up at this level. First crack at Listed Company and in a hot Pinjarra Classic but he maps to get the right run and he’s in perfectly on the 54kg minimum. RIVER RUBICON was a brilliant trial at Albany, flies fresh and the last time he met Aztec Ruler he was only beaten 3L and gets a whopping 4.5kg weight swing on him from that encounter. REAL DANGER was able to control and kick clear in the Cyril Flower and should cross comfortably again. TRIX OF THE TRADE is a Group One winner but 62kg is a real leveller. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – AZTEC RULER EACHWAY RACE 10 ACHICI VUOLEMALE was $5.50 into $2.70 at his return to racing but settled in a different postcode to Bayezid and then didn’t seem to handle the corner whatsoever at Ascot. Second-up they go back to what is proven and that’s the 1000m Pinjarra straight. Reunites with Jarrad Noske and expect him to improve sharply second-up. SHELL BELL is accepted Saturday and Sunday. If she starts here, she’ll take running down. BIG CITIES hasn’t seen any daylight his last two. Going really well. MAGNALEE continues to race well without winning and is a proven straight track mare. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 11 – 1 Suggested Bet – ACHICI VUOLEMALE WIN Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1,4,5 1,2,3,4,5,8,9,10 1,3,5,6,8,14 2,5 Market Market
