Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on May 3, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 RIBBON OF GOLD was brilliant last start in a fast run 1000m at Ascot. Drop in grade and can wind up over the top of them here. FINALLY FRENCH had nothing go right first-up but was still there with 150m to go. Wins one very soon. DON’S LEGACY resumes and has run some nice races in a short career. CHISANO is an 800m specialist but should get conditions to suit. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – RIBBON OF GOLD WIN Race 2 WAKAN TANKA races on speed and usually at the start of the season at Northam the inside is dynamite. He can sit right over them or even lead and this looks a really good race for him. PRINCE DEVOUTLY ran around in a trial and then was far sharper when finding the fence. Not disgraced on debut down the straight and looks the big danger. GUNFLINT was ultra-consistent last preparation and draws soft. MUMSTHEONE went well fresh. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – WAKAN TANKA WIN Race 3 EMERALD ROSE has shown ability as a 2 year old and after the recent trial it was hard not to be impressed. Should position up midfield and be hard to hold out. CHOICE COMMAND trialed alongside Emerald Rose and was equally, if not more impressive than Emerald Rose but the draw makes things very tough. SASSATIONAL is speedy and can find the fence from the wide draw. SHE’S ALRIGHT can run a cheeky race on debut. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 13 Suggested Bet – EMERALD ROSE WIN Race 4 ARTIE’S JEWELS is obviously not the easiest horse to ride and Banjo Paterson will need to bring his A-Game but the horse has undeniable ability and this is easier than recent assignments. MAY KEEP HIM is always there abouts and the Maley team are in white hot form. SHADOW HUNTER showed a bit last start and keeps improving with racing. MORNING SONG will have no excuse from the draw. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 7 – 11 Suggested Bet – ARTIE’S JEWELS WIN Race 5 GEE KHAN trialed like a horse who would be winning a fair few races before his debut when he got a long way off them and made steady ground late in a race which has turned into a hot form reference. Not asked for an effort in a recent trial. BEGUILER could surprise a few if he found the front. MUSKEBELLO draws poorly but showed a bit last preparation, especially on wet tracks. VENGEANCE OF WAR is no star but continues to jump short. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – GEE KHAN WIN Race 6 COCKATIEL was beaten 4 lengths first-up when leading on a day which didn’t suit those against the fence. Looked like she was in need of the run and can improve sharply here with a sit. ROCK THIS COUNTRY won well three starts ago, went close two starts ago and then was a forgive run last start. WARZACHANTZ improves with shades on and back in trip. SOULSANA is suited over further but is worth following. Numbers:5 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – COCKATIEL WIN Race 7 GIFTED WARRIOR ran well first-up on a Heavy8. Draws well and should only improve fitness wise. Ran into some quality types last preparation as a 3 year old. WANNA BE GOOD was in the same race and was the target of strong support. Steps up in trip and draws awkwardly but on the quick back-up looks ready to win. OUQBA JACK can be hard to catch but his best is easily good enough. SEBRING SPY always the blow out. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – GIFTED WARRIOR WIN Race 8 ROCK MAGIC opened $3.20, someone could lose a job over that. He is odds on all day, any day. He is a genuine Super Star and G1 horse and with the handicap conditions of the race should be winning with his eyes closed. Anything over even money is value. SUPER MAXI could be the danger if it is rails hot. DURENDAL can make it a stable trifecta and is ultra-consistent and fool proof. FIRST AMONG EQUALS should get every opportunity along the fence. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – ROCK MAGIC WIN Race 9 ALCINA trialed the house down in fast time. If they let her cross from gate number 7 it could be game, set, match. Should run a big race first-up. ILLMATIC it not a known sprinter but trialed very impressively at Lark Hill. FROSTY BAY will be right on speed and there for a long way. COOL SERENTIY has ability but will need luck from the draw. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – ALCINA WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3,5,7 3,4,6,7 1 1 Market Market
