Scott Embry’s Sunday Northam Preview Posted on October 5, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 FRIAR’S MOON was well supported last week and was well beaten but it was an interesting race where the leader ran strong time and simply ran rivals ragged. He was left floundering and never got into the race. Improver here. TORTINA has had 22 opportunities to win but if she jumps she can lead and control. GLAMOUR BELLE gets back and the small field helps. DRINK THE RAINBOW was given a perfect ride by Pike last start and will get the same again. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – FRIAR’S MOON WIN Race 2 COLHOUN may well be scratched from Kalgoorlie on Saturday to be saved for this assignment. Not a bad effort last start when dropping back to 1000 and taking on tougher opposition than he meets here. FRIAR’S FANCY has blinkers added and Pike goes back on. Not disgraced in a strong fillies and mares race. LAURENSEN drops out of Saturday grade into a far more suitable race. COOL IMAGE is not impossible back from the dirt and will almost certainly be the outsider of the small field. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – COLHOUN WIN Race 3 SOUNDS OF THEN was a late scratching last week after trainer Darren McAuliffe determined that the track was too hard. Interesting to see her accept here. Her trials have been excellent and she is extremely well related. CHOICE COMMAND is probably the first Epaulette WA has seen and the trials suggest he will be winning plenty of races. FIRST STIKE was annihilated in betting first-up and had no luck at all. Big run. PEARL GIRL has also trialed well for her debut. Numbers: 11 – 4 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – SOUNDS OF THEN Race 4 BLACK ATTACK is by far the most intruiguing runner first-up for a new stable. Showed more than enough ability last preparation with Vaughn Sigley to be breaking her maiden and a change of scenery could be the difference. MAGIC EMPIRE has got back and charged home at her last two starts. Draws a gate here and Pike goes back on. OUQBA TED was good last weekend in a Saturday Metro maiden. AEROFAITH keeps improving with racing. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – BLACK ATTACK EACHWAY Race 5 BON VOYAGE may be short in the market but he should simply be far too classy. His form last preparation after breaking his maiden in a hot form race was excellent and he took on far superior rivals than this. STATE ATTORNEY is going well and will win a Class 1 soon. Just unlikely to be this one. GATE SOF BABYLON is an interesting one, debut against experienced and older rivals. Trialed well. SHIP CREEK backs up after breaking her maiden last Sunday and won well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – BON VOYAGE WIN Race 6 ARNIE’S BOY resumes as a 3 year old after showing ability against quality 2 year old opposition. Ran into the likes of Special Reward and Black Sabbath in his debut preparation and got better at every start until his last one of the prep. If he can jump and end up in the breeze gives a sight. MODERN NEWS will have plenty of supporters after she ran second in the Listed Natasha Stakes. Only concern is how far back she gets. GOLDEN WALLABIE has a gear change which will hopefully straight him up. HOT STYLE was a nice run first-up. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 11 – 2 Suggested Bet – ARNIE’S BOY EACHWAY Race 7 REVEILLE gets her best chance to win a race of the preparation and being blunt, if she doesn’t beat these then she is no where near as good as we may have thought earlier in her career. Form against better horses than this jumps off the page. KLEVA KEZZA goes lengths better for Shaun O’Donnell than anyone else. Draws soft to sit in the box seat or even lead. VERMONT LADY sits midfield and winds up late. PRESS THE PETAL can sprint well fresh. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – REVEILLE WIN Race 8 VELAGO has the blinkers added and his most recent run was much more like the kind of turn of foot he is capable of producing. Got a long way back in a fairly evenly run race where the leader left them for dead. Made up a stack of ground. DECEPTION GAME takes on the older horses but ridden cold at his most recent he was able to unleash a nice late burst. KING LOUIE is not the easiest horse to ride so the engagement of a 4kg claimer is a concern. May be best served waiting for the cutaway. BLOOMY’S SUN may roll to the top in a race devoid of speed. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – VELAGO WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1 2,7,8,11,13,14 4 1,5,6 Market Market
