Scott Embry’s Sunday Mount Barker Preview Posted on October 29, 2022October 29, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ST JOHN has joined the yard of Sam Faithfull recently and last year her strike rate was phenomenal. Only 1.4L off Village Girl, Amelia’s Trust last start. Great form for a Barker Maiden. Saw plenty in the runs for Dion Luciani in tougher maidens than this. NO ACTION went around a $6.50 chance on debut in a 2 year old maiden when finishing 4L off Lord Gannicus (now a C1 & C3 winner). Has had two trials to warm up for his return to racing. One of many live hopes. BONAMICO has a wide gate but showed ability when last in work. ELITE JEWEL will jump and run. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – ST JOHN WIN RACE 2 ATHLONE CASTLE had been going incredibly well over the 1000m at Belmont Park. Over the last few months has finished within 4L of the following genuine 60+ Graduation Saturday types: Thomas Magnum, Ghost Who Walks, State Of Power, Pixie Chix, Cash Away, Olga Louisa. 3 time winner at Barker, plenty of boxes ticked. LACEVINSKY has 62kg to contend with but is two from two at Barker. Was always mapped to endure a horror run last start. DARK ASSAULT can bounce back quickly. CLASSIC MAGNUS is never far from them. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – ATHLONE CASTLE WIN RACE 3 PENNED finished fourth behind Work In Progress, One Cool Gal and Diamond Command in a 2 year old trial at Belmont back in May before splitting handy duo Lot Ho and Work IN Progress again over the 1000. Has had two trials to prepare him for his debut and this looks winnable. RULER ROCKET looks sharp. Trialled over 950 with blinkers last preparation but trialled in ear muffs over 400m this campaign. Wears the Ear Muffs on debut and will look to jump and run. LITTLE SILVER clearly has ability but is doing a lot wrong at the minute. Has raced ungenerously in the both his career outings. The debut run was less than 4L from Laced Up Heels. Don’t discount. EYESHADOW is quick. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – PENNED WIN RACE 4 LUVACHAT will do his best over further in time, however, he has some real X-Factor about him. Really like the fact that Roy Rogers hasn’t taken him to trials because he looks like the kind of horse who can go through his grades this preparation. Parked in behind them and poised to pounce. DOUBLE THUMBS UP is quite quick and should be there for a long way. NIGHTS MYSTERY will also be looking to find the fence. BACK IN BLUE can stay in touch with them early. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – LUVACHAT WIN RACE 5 HALATORION finished second in a Westspeed Platinum behind Requisition, beating home Ain’t No Other Man, and now drops from a m58+ into a Class 2 c50+. Has 61.5kg to contend with but Brad Rawiller is a heavy weight hoop and expect that he packs to much fire power late. DOES HE KNOW will look to jump and lead. That’s typically position A at Barker, especially early in the year. PRINCE RAGNAR has been a work in progress since his debut. Capable front running type. HENRY THE AVIATOR has ability. Loved his recent trial at Albany. Just needs some luck from a tricky draw. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – HALATORION WIN RACE 6 GALAXY AFFAIR is likely favourite in this field, but importantly for early shoppers he is also an acceptor at the Tuesday meeting at Ascot on Cup Day. If he goes this way he’s the on top selection, if he goes to Ascot Tuesday he’s the on top selection. Really well placed into both races and looks more than capable. Stablemate BIRD’S THE WORD was gifted a race at York, finished behind Major Max and subsequent winner Swim Through in a 3 year old 0MWLY and then was held up at crucial stages last start. HEAR ME SING was going round behind Trix Of The Trade last year in the Breeders Classic, Challenge, Lex Piper etc. He’s the obvious improver back into a 58+. GETYOURMONEYANDRUN has been a model of consistency this preparation. Winning chance. Numbers: (3) – 8 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – BIRD’S THE WORD WIN RACE 7 COSMOPOLITAN GIRL is being placed to absolute selection by Team Pearce (again). Maiden, C1, 46+, C3 and now a 58+. Understand heading to the 3 year old Classic when she was well out of her weight division to try and pinch one but this is her grade and she’ll be extremely popular. Straight to the front and keep kicking. AYASHA is always a blow out chance in this grade. DYNAMITE BAY can win at his best and goes gangbusters at Barker. MR CAUSEWAY is not an easy horse to ride but can roll forward. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – COSMOPOLITAN GIRL WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2 1,2,3,4 2,3,7,8 2,5,6,7,9 Market Market
