Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on May 17, 2024May 17, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BAALBEK won a C2 1200 at Kalgoorlie under 60kg by 4L and then went to town to win a C3 at Ascot from the breeze in cracking time. He went to a 60+ Graduation after that and finished second to highly talented mare Devine Belief. Jump and run – 55.5kg after the claim, should be hard to beat. MUNGO JERRY is no slouch and Rickie Brown’s team went well last Sunday. He’s a talented 4 year old resuming and looks the logical danger. HOLE IN ONE is better than what he produced fresh. TOTAL LOCKDOWN tries hard. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – BAALBEK WIN RACE 2 BRONTE’S DREAM and SECRET ATTIRE are likely to have a stranglehold on betting here for MR Peter Fernie. Going to side up with BRONTE’S DREAM who gets in with only 53kg after the claim of Chanel Cooper. Like Baalbek in race 1 it should be straight to the front and keep kicking. Solid effort behind Dreamtime Jean fresh in a maiden where they stopped the clock 4L faster than average. SECRET ATTIRE chased hard at her first outing in Kal last Sunday. 7 days later finds an equally weak race. KING OF FRANCE has shown glimpses. ALL CHILL joins the yard of Justin A Robins who can find one (think Pedal Power / Piquancy / Pies). Numbers: 6 – 5 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – BRONTE’S DREAM WIN RACE 3 LET SPARKS FLY looks really hard to beat here for the Ben & Dan Pearce yard. She finished second at Pinjarra two back behind Rubick Lass and beat home subsequent winner Percussion Prince. Reproduces that run in a Kalgoorlie maiden and she’ll take serious beating. ELUSIVE DREAM is finding it hard to pinch a race but does get every favour along the inside. EDWARD’S CHOICE / BAYRAKTAR / AL TINA / ARAFISIO are all through the same race last week which was a walk. They’ve gone 8L slower than maiden average and were all under the pump from the 600. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – LET SPARKS FLY WIN RACE 4 TALK IT UP was huge behind Dunbar two back in a real Blackbook run from an impossible position on straightening and then was fancied by many at double figures in a 66+ at Ascot when ridden by William Pike ($15 into $10) and only finishing 3.3L off Rope Them In / Generosity who both go round favourite at Belmont Park in their respective races on Saturday. Expect that form to look good come Sunday morning and back to the KBRC we’ll jump on the bandwagon. NODUSTONME beat him home on 13 April and meets him 1.5kg better for the win. SOLARIZE was in the same race and gets big weight on both. BIRD’S THE WORD finds this easier second-up and maps well. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – TALK IT UP WIN RACE 5 SEND ‘EM was good first-up behind Right To Silence and then went around a $2.80 chance second-up in the race won by Vernatious and finished a mile off them. Given 3 weeks between runs and is worth one forgive. Really this race should be eachway the field and you could nearly make a case for all 8 runners. WITCH STREET has attacked the line through traffic first-up and second-up and has clearly returned in good order. Respect off the 7 day spin. PRAY WITH YOU ran some massive races last preparation without luck. Shades on. VERNATIOUS won well last start and the Paul Tapper yard is on fire. Reproduces the effort and no reason why she can’t win again. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – SEND ‘EM EACHWAY RACE 6 MAGIC WILL REIGN backs up off 7 days and drops back into a 58+ after having no luck at all last weekend in the 70+ 1300. Barrier 1 was always going to be the sticking point on paper and he never got a crack at them in the home straight. Like the step to 1600 and thought his fresh run behind Dunbar / Talk It Up was a ripper. ONEMOREFORLEO deadhead with All On Black last week after behind annihilated in better. IT’S A LANCE has won his last two but from the draw this looks a lot tougher. CAPTAIN ROGERS was able to control the tempo last week and skip away on straightening. With only 53.5kg he should take running down again. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – MAGIC WILL REIGN EACHWAY RACE 7 DREAMTIME JEAN had a few genuine excuses last week – was vetted behind the gates after trying to anticipate the start, was caught wide throughout without cover and yet watching the replay his L200 was really good late and through the line. Senior rider goes on 7 days later and if he can overcome another tricky draw think he’s got the ability to take this out. TALKABOUTYOU is 2 from 44 but does come through the Kelly’s Li Za Lu / Onemoreforleo / Captain Rogers race which has produced big market movers and winners. BLITZEM BABE drops down to 54kg and can go really quick. LOOPY’S BABY gets 4kg on Dreamtime Jean from last week and went around second fav. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – DREAMTIME JEAN WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2 1,4,5,6,7 1,2,4,5,6,8,9 3,6,7,8 Market Market
