Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 21, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 GINGER AND SPICE really caught the eye in her recent barrier trial when storming through the middle of the field in slick time. Looks talented enough to be competitive on debut. MOSCHARD was a tough view for favourite backers when held up for the entire home straight. With Pateman back on he gets his chance. SMARTY was 20 into 10 on debut and went enormous. Won’t see double figures here with blinkers on and talented apprentice ‘The Boond’ engaged. BUFF MAN was disappointing at the 1400m but much better suited here. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – GINGER AND SPICE EACHWAY Race 2 ILLMATIC has always threatened to break through and gets another opportunity in maiden grade after being thrown in the deep end last week by Craig Wright. The mile is an unknown but locals have been impressed by his sweet little haircut. LET ME PASS is the obvious danger. He is a grinding type who will find the front and be there for a long way. BIG RANSOM is always thereabouts and you know he will run out the mile. SLURPIN TURPIN’ is a 20 start maiden who tends to run eye catchers and suck you in at his next start. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – ILLMATIC WIN Race 3 DISCO METAL flew home and just missed in a hot finish last time out. Meets the same field again here and with any luck or Pike magic she can turn the tables on her opposition. IT’S DYNAMITE has returned well from a let up and the mare’s next win looks to be just around the corner. TEMPLE MAN got the bob in on the line to record his second win since joining veteran trainer Gary Bowen’s stable. There’s no reason he can’t bring up his third. OMERTA is racing in career best form and isn’t without some chance. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – DISCO METAL WIN Race 4 NAZARETH returns from a break and falls into a very winnable race. Struggled to break through last preparation but this looks a much weaker race than what he was contesting. CLOAK AND DAGGER was withdrawn from a race last weekend with a minor hoof issue. Given he has overcome that, he’s right in this. CAN HE RULE HER will get back from the wide draw and be suited to a hot tempo. Looks a progressive type. MISS SLATER has the blinkers and a noted front running rider applied so expect the sparks to fly. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – NAZARETH WIN Race 5 SPIRITED ACTION failed to fire when restrained from a wide gate last start. His previous run was excellent and Goldfields Master Mr Peter Fernie can turn their form around in the blink of an eye. BANTRY was put to sleep at the rear of the field and ran home fairly from the tail. With a senior rider aboard expect him to settle more prominently for his loyal connections. NOBEL SUSPECT is an honest commodity and reunites with Mitchell Pateman. HAYAN LAD put in an uncharacteristic shocker when leading last start. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPIRITED ACTION WIN Race 6 OUTER DETENTION slipped on jumping and settled back, doing his best work late in an identical race. Ryan Hill regains the ride and maps to enjoy a dream run behind the leaders. A BIT SKETCHY jumped out of the ground late to snatch victory on the line from a gallant Red Publisher. A repeat of that effort sees him book his place in the Hannans Handicap. VIKING FORREST wasn’t suited to sitting close to the speed and if Jordan Turner can sneak up the fence he can play a part at odds. WHERE’S WALLY will likely be all the rage again with Pike jumping on board but there is a query on the quality of his form. Numbers: 12 – 8 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – OUTER DETENTION EACHWAY Race 7 STATE PROSECUTOR has outstanding form around some quality stayers and looks to have this race at his mercy. Pike will likely be midfield three back the fence in an awkward spot but he is the best for a reason. GLORYLAND is as tough as nails and you know he will give you a run for your money. Finished third in last year’s Boulder Cup. PRYING TOM is absolutely flying and shooting for 5 in a row. Needs all the luck to go his way and from the wide draw. FIRST AFFAIR flashed home in the Coolgardie Cup under apprentice Percy Turner and looks to appreciate the rock hard surface. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet: STATE PROSECUTOR WIN Race 8 SKINNEN TINS backers were treated to a Shooter McGruddy special, saluting at double figure odds last start and that form held up Wednesday with First Growth saluting. GANGBUSTER is a new addition to the ever growing Cambana Lodge yard and is the class of this field. We saw Mr Peter produce a 10 length turn around on stablemate Galveston Bay her last week. Similar expected. JIMMY RAPID was the target of strong market support before being a late scratching due to a stall mishap at Belmont. RELEASE THE SAX has to be respected after a 3 length victory over subsequent provincial winner Watijadoo. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet: SKINNEN TINS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,5,7 3,7,8,12 2 1,4,8,9 Market Market
