Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on June 13, 2025June 13, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PURPLE CIRCLE won his trial by 1.5L over Nicciana (who nearly won first-up) and crossed from barrier 9 to lead over 1000m at Belmont before being run down by 4.4L behind subsequent winners The Calabrese and Top Of The Walk. Holds the top and is hard to run down. VERVAIN is the other speed and the other winning chance. Beat home Purple Circle in the same race on debut and then went close behind Stryker’s Gal at his second outing. I KNOW NOTHING won a 400m jump out, other than that not a lot to write home about. SUNSET BAR was an improver last start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – PURPLE CIRCLE WIN RACE 2 FIFTY WORDS has returned in good order and looks to have found a winnable race. There’s certainly no stars in this and it likely comes down to who gets the best run in transit and from barrier 5 with a bit of speed either side it hopefully is him. He and COCOON GIRL both come through the same race and both finished off well behind Stryker’s Gal and Vervain. SWEET EYES has a set of shades going on and hopefully that will sharpen her up. KING OF FRANCE is a long time maiden but with a positive racing pattern he’ll pinch one eventually. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – FIFTY WORDS WIN RACE 3 PRAY WITH YOU can reel off a big L600 (for this grade/region) and that’s exactly what he has had to do at his last two outings from a mile off them. Fingers crossed that from barrier 1 he can leave cleanly enough for Alex Hearn to have him three back the fence. He’s hard to hold out from there. I NEVER DREAMED has only had four starts in WA and they’ve all had plenty of merit. She’s a last start C2 winner over 1600m and see no reason why the extra 160m or the extra kilo will be a big impact to her chances of going back to back. THINK LIKA WINNER finally won a race last start and should be there abouts again. KEEP A KNOCKIN’ won well two back and looks like he’ll stay. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – PRAY WITH YOU WIN RACE 4 TREASURED QUEEN was really well backed first-up without a trial and was only narrowly run down by stablemate Baalbek. Second-up should be fitter and Lucy riding 54kg in Kal on a Sunday is the push punters need. PLAYTHATFUNKYMUSIC is a 4kg claimers horse in Kalgoorlie with his rating. He’s actually dropped 2 points in his last three outings for finishing just behind the minor money and now it’s Jefferson Tsang’s chance to kick him home. Think he’s actually going quite well. ZING TO WIN was good behind Sure Thing who just ran them into the ground. BAALBEK always a wining chance. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – TREASURED QUEEN WIN RACE 5 KARNUP QUEEN safely went back to back at the David Shorttes last time out. $2.50 into $1.26 and then $1.80 into $1.35. The market is all over her and she looks the kind of horse who can go through the grades in one prep. MARGOT’S BULLSEYE finished off well late behind Karnup Queen last time out. That’s the obvious form reference race, but it’s hard to see her turning the tables on the filly. TWIST OF GOLD will appreciate getting down to 53.5kg. She’s jump and run. AMERICAN THIGHS gets every chance from the draw. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – KARNUP QUEEN WIN RACE 6 WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE joins Peter Fernie and interestingly Tash Faithfull is on him over SECRET ATTIRE. Always risky to go against the stable/hoop selection but going to side up with SECRET ATTIRE who was huge in the Provincial Championship Final. Brayden Gaerth riding in outstanding form and she should get every chance. WINEACLOCKSUMWHERE caught the eye and the Floba form is good. PEARLY NUGGET has bounced between 70+, 64+ and 58+ company at Kalgoorlie and Esperance and considering what she produced last start, this grade with a claim looks the right placement. NORTH FACE has his first start for Team Fiore and was consistent in Perth last prep. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – SECRET ATTIRE WIN RACE 7 PULL THE TRIGGER headed to the Goldfields last start and put the writing on the wall behind Queen’s Sacrifice. He’s always going to get back in his races and that’s a concern, however, Tash Faithfull rides these types as well as anyone and if they can make ground he’ll be flooding home late. SANTA BRAE should be getting fitter and fitter. Going to wait one more for him – when he gets to 2100. FEUDING hasn’t won a race for a long while but his effort behind Ryewood two back was hard to ignore. DANCING JACK only has 51.5kg and could surprise a few the old boy. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – PULL THE TRIGGER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,8 1 5,6 3,4,6 Market Market
