Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 4, 2025April 4, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ON THE MARK has been the find of the season in Geraldton and has worked his way through from C2 company to 70+ open company in the space of mere months. He wasn’t exactly as his brilliant best last start and now has to lump 62kg so if he’s going to be beaten it’s probably at his last run of the prep (here). Vulnerable? Yes. Willing to tip against him? No. BLUE ROCKET finished second in a 66+ at Ascot last Saturday behind Siberian Siren. She’s a big danger. GOLD KEEPER gets another 2kg on On The Mark to try and run him down. UNDER INFLUENCE is not at his best but can close off well. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – ON THE MARK WIN RACE 2 GOLD CHAIN was found by some astute players last start. Was $51 into $14 and with another stride would have won that race. Happy to jump on the bandwagon at the second-up run and hope that she can settle a bit closer from a better barrier. DESERT MADAME can lead or box seat and gets every chance after being beaten in a three way photo down at Albany 10 days ago. EXTRA ZERO has his first start for Gordon Spowart and trialled up well. BIG BOPPER is worth consideration first-up no trial at odds. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – GOLD CHAIN WIN RACE 3 GOD’S GRIN is another travelling Dan & Ben Pearce galloper on Cup Day who looks to have undeniable chances. They’ve been big supporters of the GTC all season and this filly was only 2L off Swansee on debut in an Ascot maiden. Drawn to get a soft run. IL BELLO BEALS lead for 1415m last start and was only gunned down right on the post by a horse who had shown maiden ability in Perth. CATERAN has recorded solid minors at his last two and will keep whacking away. SASHENO saves ground. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – GOD’S GRIN WIN RACE 4 LIBERTY DAME can punch up along the fence into a nice spot and has been there abouts in recent outings. This race looks like it’s got too much speed and pressure for the Class of horse so thinking she can zap them late. BUBBLES IN RIO and EXPOROSE are both drawn wide and both have the necessary speed to burn across into prominent positions here. Have a feeling that BUBBLES IN RIO might just have a bit more depth to her form, even though she’s a maiden filly, after holding her own behind Amaroo Star in a 3 year old 0MWLY most recently. KERMIT’S LUCK has shown ability on occasion. Keep safe at his first start in Geraldton. Numbers: 11 – 7 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – LIBERTY DAME WIN RACE 5 DIVINE INANNA is one from one at Geraldton and returns here on Cup Day, most notably with a senior rider. She’s been racing well in C3 company of recent times in Perth with 3kg apprentices. The fact that David Harrison hasn’t claimed could be telling. Happy to go with her from the gun draw. QUEEN TIFFANY has had a great season and has won three of her last four. No reason she can’t win again. Big danger. LUCKEE FLORAN won by 6L last start in a one horse domination. Can he reproduce? SCENIC BOOM is looking for three in a row but this is definitely harder. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – DIVINE INANNA WIN RACE 6 SOSO LUCKY is quickly turning into a bridesmaid with four consecutive runner-up performances. They’ve all had merit, they’ve all be against in form types (Zouboltz – winner Wednesday, Our Rocky Bay – favourite at Ascot Saturday, Canny Rock – flying) and surely this is the right set up for her to finally break through and win one! COLLECTIVE got into all sorts of trouble last start when beaten by MOMBASA who took full advantage of a 10/10 ride from Wags Dyson. FORBIDDEN APPLE has been to Pinjarra and Ascot recently and been beaten 3L and 9L, yet both of those runs have been far better than they read on paper. Don’t discount. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – SOSO LUCKY WIN RACE 7 SOWAR is an 8 year old in career best form. He finished 2.2L off Antique Miss in a Detonator Stakes, he finished 4L off Captain Pluto / Antique Miss / Sensessional / Demolish / Currimundi in a Bunbury Cup and then was only 4L off Filthy Habits in a fast run 1800 last start. Looks a great race for the old boy on paper. MANAVENDRA is a previous Esperance Cup winner and has been building nicely into the prep. BUTTERFLYROCK has won her last four and while all the attention in the region has been directed towards On The Mark she’s gone about her business and just continued to get better and better. Huge local chance. GOLD FRIARS is no stranger to the Cup. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – SOWAR WIN RACE 8 A LOT OF CLASS should be peaking now. Graeme Hammarquist has raced him on the fresh side for most of the time that he’s had the galloper so trusting in the process and happy to follow the Collective form. Open and even way to finish the program and looks to be one of many chances. CLEVER COMBAT has enjoyed a consistent season but this is a big ask from the draw. MEXICAN QUEEN can kick up to lead early and from there she’ll be in front for a long way. ONLY EYES FOR HIM finished off strongly last start at Pinjarra behind Blazing Emerald. Only issue is he’s again drawn to settle a long way back. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – A LOT OF CLASS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,8 1,2,4,6 2,4,7 1,4,5,7,9 Market Market
