Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on January 13, 2023January 13, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PRINCESS CHUNK looks to have found a suitable race in which to make a winning debut. She has had two trials this preparation, a 400m jump out beating talented colt Trespassing and then a 1000m trial when winning by over a length. The grey filly looks handy and with only 54.5kg in a country maiden gets a great chance to win on debut. FORTUNE’S LUCK finished third behind Leniency in a 1300m 3 year old 0MWLY at Belmont when last in work. Great form for a country maiden. LEAD GUITAR has had 19 starts and is yet to break her maiden but she’s racing well and is showing plenty of early toe. EMPRESS DAISY brings intruge at her WA debut. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – PRINCESS CHUNK WIN RACE 2 SUN POWER was plunged in betting last start in an 1100m 70+ at Geraldton when things didn’t exactly go right for him in the early stages when he was a touch slow away and then worked forward to the breeze. Held them off late and only rises 1.5kg taking on a vastly similar line-up. He likely tracks the every move of Protected Action in running. PROTECTED ACTION won a lot of races over 1100m in Kalgoorlie, in fact all 6 of his career wins are at the distance. Should be a handy horse for Geraldton. Takes running down. JUPITER RISING gets back and hits the line each and every start. BOMBAY STYLE coming back in trip the query. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SUN POWER WIN RACE 3 DREAM TO ME steps up to 1400m for the first time in her life. She was beaten by Eliminate last start when she was forced to tramp three deep without cover throughout under 59kg and was only beaten in the shadows. Meets her 1kg better at the weights and is drawn to get every chance in barrier 2. If she sees out the trip she should salute. ELIMINATE drew barrier 1 last start and didn’t really get to build any momentum in behind heels until the race was all over. Drawn wide a blessing in disguise for her. AWESOME CHATTER only finished 2L off them in a Westspeed Platinum last start at Ascot. HIGHEST REGARD is more than capable on his day and trialled really well. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – DREAM TO ME WIN RACE 4 YOU CAN TELL ME finished third behind Go Go Gracie in a race dominated from out in front first-up without a trial when doing it tough through the early and middle stages. Second-up he went around $3.30 and beat home both Schnoots and La Dette. That’s a handy Geraldton maiden race and getting out to 1400m looks suitable. FRASERVIEW made his debut behind Arid and Salary Man over 1400m at Pinjarra. Never gave up the chase and should find this easier. BUTTERFLYROCK travelled into the race nicely in a C1 last week. Back to a maiden helps. AUGUSTA RED is coming out of stronger metro and provincial maidens than what she meets here. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – YOU CAN TELL ME WIN RACE 5 ALBERT was the target of big money 8 days ago and with any luck at the top of the home straight he gets into clear air and he bursts through to win. By the time he got out Blue Cheyenne had swept down the centre to the front with a sustained run and Albert had to pick up and try to pull ground back off him. Can lead or box seat here. VANMAN finished a narrow second to Edmond in a 58+ 1600 two starts ago. Edmond has since won again and raced well at Ascot in a Graduation. Last start he dropped back into a C2, was given the run of the race by Turner but couldn’t reel in Mr Rossi. Knocking on the door. PATCHWORK was a strong winner two starts ago. JUSTA LIL FAITH is going well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ALBERT WIN RACE 6 ST JOHN went from a C2 1600 to a 54+ 1900 last start and was brave behind in form galloper Designated Drinker when parking over the speed and battling on bravely into third. Drops back to a mile, drops 3kg in weight and looks capable of measuring up in this. KORANIS was right place right time last start at Esperance. It was a meeting where it was near impossible to make any ground and he parked just off them and got the job done late. NATIONAL GUARD is particularly well placed into this c58+. His first-up run beaten 4L by subsequent Mandurah Cup winner Real Danger reads up well for this. PASSION PRINCE is yet to hit his straps this campaign. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – ST JOHN WIN RACE 7 EXTRA SECRET won a C3 Fillies & Mares race at Belmont Park first-up beating home Saturn Black who has since run second to Rulelee. She then went to another C3 F&M at Belmont when finishing 3.5L off Hammarmill, War Hymn and Lucky Sue. Now drops into a Country C2. Has 59kg to contend with but the blinkers are on as well and she’s drawn to get every favour along the inside rail. MYSTERY MAN finally broke through last start after frustrating punters for over 18 months. Can go on with it now. PLEASE GOD is a hard mare to run down on her day. SILVER BO gets back and runs on. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – EXTRA SECRET WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3 1,2,3 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,3 Market Market
