Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 16, 2021April 16, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ALL METAL should sit right over the top of the speed as she did in a recent maiden at York. The race was dominated on speed by Yankee Lima who has always shown glimpses of ability so the form line should hold up. ROCH LEGACY has put together two impressive trial efforts for completely different reasons. The first trial looked to be letting down nicely and the second trial found more traffic than a Friday night taxi driver trying to pinch an extra 10er. Big watch on the market. ENTERPRISE has done nothing wrong since joining Tania Guy and can come across. NOBEL STAR is a jump and run type. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – ALL METAL WIN RACE 2 TRICKY TRIX gives Tyla Becker a great opportunity to break her Geraldton duck after putting the writing on the wall behind Hammarquist pair Passport and Regal Sun. Of the various Geraldton maidens of the last month that looks one of the strongest as a form reference and from the draw she gets the right run with no weight. THE CHASER drops back sharply in trip and can be forgiven for one poor performance. DEVALERA PARK was off the track throughout at the Spowart debut run. MOVENZA brings very alternate form but looks a winning chance at odds. Numbers: 11 – 8 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – TRICKY TRIX WIN RACE 3 SIGNIFICANT HERO was scratched last Geraldton meeting which is always a minor query on the form book but the previous efforts speak for themselves. Fresh winner from last to first over 1200m beating Wednesday (competitive in town) and Foxhood (subsequent winner) and then second-up matched motors with Startrade for a large portion of the straight. DANCE COCKEY is a winner at Pingrup and Dongara but if you go through his Ascot form he’s definitely good enough. Don’t ignore. HAYSTACKS has been luckless on multiple occasions this season and now has a pair of shades added. FOXHOOD had the shades removed last start, immediately reinstated. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – SIGNIFICANT HERO WIN RACE 4 SAID NO ONE EVER ran second at enormous odds in a 60+ Graduation two starts ago behind Notorious One. Proved the effort was no fluke with a maiden win at his next start over Doowahdiddy (who won at her next outing). Recent trial behind Divine Quest and Angelic Miss was sound and this isn’t a deep C1. Well placed. LIFE FOR A LIFE is capable of finding the top here and with the use of the Watson 3kg claim looks the danger. SLY AS A FOX has improved a furlong since joining Kim Anderson. Going super. OUT OF FASHION does no work from the gate and has been a model of consistency. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – SAID NO ONE EVER WIN RACE 5 WILDONBROOK is in a rich vein of form and now looks poised to take her high weight 58+ form into a 70+ on the minimum. Lead all the way four starts ago to win soft, three starts ago was a victim of a questionable race vs non-race nightmare, two starts ago lumped 58kg in a high pressure, high speed 1400m to get over Ruby’s Legacy and then last start had to dig deep to get the chocolates with 59kg. Drops down to 54.5kg, is versatile and is being ridden well by Victoria Corver. HERITAGE SASH improved sharply from Ascot to Dongara and can make his presence felt at his Geraldton debut. ARNIE’S BOY hit the line well at Albany last start. Might need further but good return from him. KENYLUCK is always hard to knock. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – WILDONBROOK WIN RACE 6 STARTRADE can continue his way through the grades if Alan Kennedy is able to navigate the awkward barrier. Looks like there’s a guaranteed 3 deep train in this event and if he can sneak up in the moving line before they corner he’s showing a powerful turn of acceleration. STARTTHEFRIAR was excellent first-up no trial and any of his Kalgoorlie or Geraldton form is good enough to win. TRADE THUNDER ran well first-up and is far better suited up in trip. BALMONTGOMERY has been trialling the house down but has a tough gate. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet – STARTRADE EACHWAY RACE 7 MYCROFT is clearly the best of the local hopes in the 2021 Tabtouch Geraldton Gold Cup. Gets massive weight relief dropping 7kg to the minimum and with the weight swings he gets on his MidWest rivals it’s hard to see any of them beating him home. The wide gate isn’t any issue as he races off speed regardless of barrier draw and with the invaders lumping big weights, he gets his chance to keep the Cup in town. Going super and looks to have timed his run to perfection. BELLA’S IDOL is off 7 days from the Pinjarra Cup and gets 3kg on Divine Shadow. DIVINE SHADOW won the Pinjarra Cup in style but does rise 8kg up to 62. Not an easy task to lump that sort of weight but still has to be a massive chance on class alone. SUPERIOR SMILE hasn’t been seen since the SW Autumn Cup when beaten 5L by Bella’s Idol. Gets 2.5kg on him from that encounter. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – MYCROFT WIN RACE 8 RUBY’S LEGACY was beaten in the last 20m by a flying Wildonbrook two starts ago this track, distance and grade with Holly Watson in the saddle. There is speed from out deep in Greco and Sakarya but provided he steps cleanly he’ll lead those two and seems to go better the harder and faster they go. Always a blow out chance when finding the top and rolling. GIFTED WARRIOR is particularly well placed by Dion Luciani into this 56+. Good return to racing after a freshen and some barrier work at trials. THE CROWN PRINCE has been excellent at his last two and is showing a big turn of foot. HIGHEST REGARD was disappointing last start but had genuine excuses. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – RUBY’S LEGACY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,5,6,8,9 1,2,4,5,12,13 1,2,3,7 1,10,11 Market Market
