Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on May 31, 2024May 31, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 VERGREY was good first-up behind Rubick Lass, then copped the wrong part of the track at Scarpside when everything was getting to the outside fence and then bounced back last start with a gritty second to The King’s Uncle. Going along well, Lucy Fiore in form and in a race without a natural pacemaker he can either lead or park up outside of Jive King. HISTORY WON’T CARE was in the same race and was doing his best work late and through the line. He’s another who will be better than just a maiden winner. KILLARNEY put the writing on the wall with a strong return to racing. JIVE KING has shown enough in his 10 starts to date and is proven in the wet. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – VERGREY WIN RACE 2 ELLE OF A BOOM ran really well behind Warning Shot on a deteriorating track at Scarpside at the eventually abandoned meeting on 2 May. Dropped back to 1600m last start and that was never going to suit her. The winner of that race has run well since and back out to the staying trip she looks as good a chance as any in this thin ol’ maiden. DR ON CALL is worth considering at big odds. Senior goes back on, blinkers come off and he looks the kind of animal who could grind through the Heavy track. AGRABAH beat him home in the Warning Shot race and then didn’t fire a shot at York in a lowly maiden handicap. HIT THE LIGHTS is in Sunday and Monday. He could run in both #Hillythings. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – ELLE OF A BOOM WIN RACE 3 KING’S ARTILLERY ran second on debut to Sonoftheboss who is now a 60+ Graduation winner at Ascot. Recent trials have been strong and from the gate he should get every chance at his return to racing. MY HIDDEN UNIVERSE has a stack of raw ability but as many quirks to go with it. Shouldn’t be a maiden long but will be costly to follow as a betting conveyance. PETROUCHKA may want further but at least she has seen a Soft6 and run well enough. CLASSIC RULER has won two separate 950m trials and looked good in doing so on both occasions. Chris Stelmach’s yard continues to produce winners. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – KING’S ARTILLERY WIN RACE 4 SUNLIT FRESCO should be going very close in a race of this nature. Made her debut in a 3 year old 0MWLY when afforded no luck behind winners All Play, Gold Vancouver and Playing Games and then returned to racing first-up in a C1 when beating all bar Olivia’smemumma. Home track, back to a maiden, drops 1.5kg as well. Hard to beat. PROCESSIO will ensure it’s a race because her debut effort behind Scorpion Ruler was a ripper. TRANSCRIBE trialeld well behind Zeezea. GORILLASINTHEMIST gave cheek behind Lifeisbutadream. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – SUNLIT FRESCO WIN RACE 5 CHERRY CAN RUN is bursting to win another race but at the same time she’s won once from 28 outings. The thing in her favour if you’re trying to convince yourself (like I clearly am) is that her only victory was on a Heavy surface and given the SW forecast that’s a reasonable expectation for Sunday’s racing. Deserves to win one. BEAU TALK kicks through to lead and controls. Was only half a length behind Cherry Can Run last start. PERCUSSION PRINCE is better than what he showed last start. COATACHINO has run two good races in her life and they’ve both been in the last month. Turned a corner clearly. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – CHERRY CAN RUN WIN RACE 6 PEARLY NUGGET was a late scratching at Pinjarra on 15 May after striking the front of her barrier and so now heads to Bunbury into a C3 1200 F&M race which probably looks far more suitable than the 1000m straight event she would have contested that day. Loved her trial, love her overall race form and thinking that she can carry the weight and beat these. KINGS FLIRT was good behind Krysanova and that race has produced Capre Omnia to victory. DIVINE INANNA rolls in front and rarely runs a bad one. PACIFIC LADY toyed with moderate opposition at York fresh. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – PEARLY NUGGET WIN RACE 7 GOLD KEEPER ran well first-up behind Dance Boss in a C3 at Ascot and then covered ground in a fast run race behind The Big One second-up. Proven in the wet and looks an improver in a wide open and even contest. Going to roll the dice with him. ESTIMATOR usually goes around well in the market and looks to find a race where he’ll land a prominent spot in running. Has more ability than he shows from time to time. HUGHBERT is still a work in progress – very new, very raw and doing plenty wrong. Nice drop in grade for him. SABINO a watch for his new trainer and connections, especially with the Pike booking. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – GOLD KEEPER EACHWAY RACE 8 GENERAL KNOWLEDGE was incredibly well commissioned in betting at his WA debut and almost got the job done when poking up along the fence late after being slightly held up into the corner to finish a narrow second to Hoba Meteor. Drops 1.5kg second-up coming into a C3 and from the draw he should get every chance. This looks the much thinner C3 of the two split divisions. OUTFIELD resumes without a trial but Steven Burton can get them to go fresh and he’s on speed and tough. JELLY CAN RUN appreciates the sting out of the ground. ROCKING THE CASBAH has natural talent. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – GENERAL KNOWLEDGE WIN RACE 9 ANTIQUE QUEEN is only coming off a York Maiden handicap win but she was visually very impressive. It was a perfect William Pike riding masterclass – he’s saved that much ground inside tiring horses it’s ridiculous – but she could be an emerging staying type. Wouldn’t surprise to see her win well – wouldn’t surprise to see her miss the Top 4. York maiden form is dodgy but Bob’s horses can be the outliers. FLASH DUCATI is a tough campaigner who is at full fitness and in grand form. Great use of the claim. BIG SWOOP has been promising to win a race all campaign and going consistently well. MISTER POPCORN has a lot of weight but on his day he’s capable. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – ANTIQUE QUEEN WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,4,6,7 1,2,5,8,9 2,5 2,8,9 Market Market
