Scott Embry’s Sunday Belmont Preview Posted on December 22, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EXPOROSE finished 1L off them in a C3 1100 at Northam first-up back in November. Admittedly since then the wheels have fallen off and she’s been beaten 5L and 10L but this is very thin C1 and she can look to go back to her on-speed racing pattern. CRYSTALIST faded back from the breeze last start, however, he still beat a mare like Exporose by lengths. Barrier 7 of 7 not easy in a race with plenty of speed. TWIGGER is lightly raced and has more upside than most of these. Debut win was strong and then raced wide throughout last start. IF I DIN HAVADIME has really nice 2 year old form for a race of this nature. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – EXPOROSE EACHWAY RACE 2 THINK OF GOD was plunged in betting on debut. She was the one the punters wanted out of a really hot trial performance and was backed with confidence from $4.60 into $2.90. Got caught out on a limb and was forced to cover ground three deep outside the leaders for the entire race and was still there with 100m to go. Watch Me Rock comes out of that race and goes around favourite in Race 1 on Saturday at Ascot and if he was to go well it will look the best form. MISS SKYHIGH was sent out a $2.20 favourite on debut on a Heavy track and never gave up the chase. Recent trial was really powerful. ALIEN CLOVIS has trialled the house down for his WA debut including winning a 1200m trial by almost 5L beating a 72+ type like Birdieagle. CANNY ROCK is talented for a 7 start maiden. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – THINK OF GOD WIN RACE 3 GUARDING HEAVEN will need a bit of luck and a really aggressive ride early from Joey Azzopardi but if she can cross to the breeze and sit outside a horse like Dreamtime Jean or I Dreamed A Dream then she should take beating. She was brave three deep the trip last start behind undefeated filly Lost City and emerging talent Rocket Juice. Nice race for her IF she can get across. OBJECTIFY trialled like she would be winning on debut and did exactly that. Not sure there was a whole lot in what she beat that day but she got the job done and should only improve for the outing. BRAVAS PATATAS comes through a maiden expected to produce a few winners. DREAMTIME JEAN is trying hard. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – GUARDING HEAVEN WIN RACE 4 TORPEDOMAN was scratched from a maiden on Thursday at Bunbury to save for this and in hindsight it’s already been a good move because both Hit The Jackpot and On A Winning Day both going really well in that race. This looks a thinner assignment and from barrier 1 Stevie Parnham can take full advantage and use the gate speed that he possesses to make a real race of it. Loved his trial and was a solid return behind Hostile Talk. TOP OF THE WALK has been impressive at trials for his new stable. Lacie Ace ran well on Wednesday out of that trial and he’s drawn to get a nice run on return. PANDORA GIRL is becoming costly. Just got too far out of her ground last start. IMPENDING FEATURE can park up over the speed. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 10 – 13 Suggested Bet – TORPEDOMAN WIN RACE 5 BUCKEYE BULLET comes through the popular high speed, high rating race behind Autumn Rebel. So far we’ve seen Speak To Me $2.60 into $1.70 victorious, Valley Of Queens $4.80 into $3.20 victorious and even Tell’ Nothin backed from $61 into $13. Everything out of that race is being plunged and so we’ll continue to follow the trend and suggest that Buckeye Bullet can make a race of this. SERVICEMAN is a big class dropper. All four runs this preparation have been in Westspeed Platinum races on a Saturday and he looks ready to win one. Been building with each run. CHANTEL should get the run she needs with Rommel’s Jeuney likely to jump and run from barrier 2. GRATIAS DEO can be forgiven for last start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – BUCKEYE BULLET WIN RACE 6 KING’S SICARIO is accepted for a Westspeed Race on Saturday at Ascot but if the elect to scratch from that to save for this then you have to respect the decision. Would be a 58+ back into a C1 and provided they can make some ground on the day he should be hard to hold out. Most of his form since an impressive maiden win at Belmont Park back in late Autumn has been in higher grade and has been excellent. DASH OF BRANDY was a great return to racing from a long spell. Love the way she got to the line. If King’s Sicario doesn’t start she’s the one. CIAO BLOOMY broke her maiden well. Hasn’t been much form out of that race so far but she looks to be improving. SUOPER ROMANI can sprint well fresh at 1400. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – KING’S SICARIO WIN RACE 7 NERO KING hadn’t raced for a while when resuming in a C3 with 58kg at Belmont. Finished off really hard into third behind Leading Taddy who has since franked the form running third behind Stormchaser and Blue Lagoon in a 3 year old 1400. Drops 2.5kg here second-up and if he can reproduce the run he should be going closer. BUDGERIGAR has been too classy for Geraldton opposition at his last two. This is a bit deeper but he’s more than capable of making the return to metro racing with success. 56.5kg after the claim looks a very winnable weight. ACTING GOD is classy. Great to see him back at the races. VITALIZE was disappointing last start but they simply went too slow for her. More genuine tempo here. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – NERO KING WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,6,10 1,2,5 1,6,7 1,3,5,7,9,10 Market Market
