Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on May 14, 2021May 14, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GARAGE DAYS has run two enormous races to start his preparation. First-up he settled at the rear and had to make a huge sustained run (through traffic) to finish within 2L of highly talented filly Tri For Us and run straight past Inahappydaze in the process. At his next outing was tramping deep throughout on a leader dominated surface and got close to nailing Yawarda in the shadows. Should be winning here. INAHAPPYDAZE and QUINTUS both settle in front of him in the run and can both give cheek. TAKE ME THERE the best of the local hopes. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – GARAGE DAYS WIN RACE 2 CANTO DE GUERRA is another Adam Durrant/Clint Johnston-Porter horse who looks hard to beat on a programme which they could absolutely dominate (again). Lead them up at his second start and was only run down late by Domineer. Recent trial wasn’t knocked around and should hold a prominent position from the draw. TSAHEYLU looks the obvious danger. Has improved with each outing and has the gate speed to lead them for a long way. HALATORION resumes and was well thought of on debut when running second to talented stablemate Strathmore Rose. VRUM is very consistent. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – CANTO DE GUERRA EACHWAY RACE 3 TREAT YO SELF is going to be winning her fair share of staying races over winter. Took a sit last start and looked home for all money until she got the wobbles in the last 2 strides and was gobbled up by Crezee. If she finds the front they’ll all have to run her down. Can start to go through the grades this campaign. LYLE’S CHOICE had his first staying attempt at his most recent and was caught up in a muddlingly run sit sprint affair. Stable would have learnt nothing from the run and he goes round again. SO SCHMICK is paying the penalty for his Narrogin Cup win. This is the most suitable race he has seen since. WESTERN KING is hard to catch but talented enough. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – TREAT YO SELF WIN RACE 4 BLACKWATER BAY is proving a frustrating (and costly) commodity at the minute. Has gone round favourite at his last three outings and has been beaten on each occasion. Went round $2.20 in a C3, $2.50 in a m58+ and most recently $2.00 in a C1 at Ascot. Drops into a c58+ mile, is drawn ideally in gate 3, and looks a card which Durrant is likely to dominate. One more time? CHAISNG CHAOS was the target of smart money two starts ago and almost caused the upset in town. Going super the old boy. GIFTED WARRIOR has enough ability to be winning this and comes back to a more suitable trip. MONGOLIAN WARLORD looks ready. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – BLACKWATER BAY WIN RACE 5 ISLAND CHARM is deep into her campaign but Roy Rogers goes one more time and brings her home to Albany. Looks a lovely assignment for the talented filly to finish off her preparation a winner. Beat Iseered Iseered and Gemma’s Son first-up, ran second in the Pinjarra Magic Millions and comes out of 3 year old and 66+ racing recently. Full set of blinkers on, Chris Parnham on and drawn a gate on the minimum. Ticks plenty of boxes. ONE SHORT bounced back last start when Ryan Hill went aboard. Gets 1kg on Senso and that could be enough. SENSO is going great guns for Alan McNamara Jnr and see no reason why he can’t win again. SPEEDING COMET is the X-Factor runner. Narrowly beat the Ambulance in a photo first-up for Mitch Pateman but this is a huge drop in class. He’s quickly learning how to read the calendar! Numbers: 9 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – ISLAND CHARM WIN RACE 6 NURHACI was beaten at the hands of a Saturday filly in Strathmore Rose last start. Nothing wrong with going under to her and she has been the Great Southern form reference and benchmark in recent months. Was a race run 4.5L faster than 58+ average and he did a stack of work in the run. This looks an easier race for him and he can breath fire outside Kristella. KRISTELLA is going super, winning her last two. This is definitely harder and weight will catch up with her quickly. OXBRIDGE an improver after doing it tough last start. MAGNUSON MAN is tracking along well. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – NURHACI WIN RACE 7 FAIR ONE brings alternate form references having run second at his last two in Kalgoorlie. Ran second behind subsequent winner Neat Action and second behind Trillionaire at his most recent. After the claim for Jett Stanley he gets in with 57.5kg and might be underrated in the market. SOVIET SPY was a big run last start. Had to sustain an effort from a fair way out and ran into a nice little filly in Strawberry Mist, finishing alongside fellow talent Tradem’In. Should hold up as a form reference. DANCING JACK has been up all season but has found a second wind of late. ROCK OF KAHA is going well and Jason Whiting rarely jumps off one trained by Peter Western. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – FAIR ONE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,5 2,3,4,5,9 1,2 1,2,3,5 Market Market
