Scott Embry’s Sunday Albany Preview Posted on February 12, 2021February 12, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DANCING JACK has been going super his last three. Second on each occasion and now on the 6 day back-up with a likely 4 horse field (Icarian ineligible and Spirit of Prophecy possibly scratching to race Saturday) he gets his chance with Chris Parnham on. Drawn to lead and should be too good. REBEL MAN ran fourth in the same race on Monday beaten a space. I FORGOT is going alright and in the small field won’t get that far off them. ANGEL OF JUICE is only having her second start and has no weight. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – DANCING JACK WIN RACE 2 GINGER GREEN was crunched into $1.40 first-up and then ran his race in patches, raced greenly and wasn’t anywhere near as good as his 2 year old form. Blinkers go on, second-up, he gets another chance but certainly put in a poor one first-up. DARK ASSAULT is a highly talented maiden. This is a colt who ran second to Gemma’s Son in the Pinjarra Magic Millions and then third behind Ima Singleman and Watch Me Dance in a Kattakatta. HALATORION couldn’t get near the speedy stablemate Monday and is on the quick back-up. ZEEWIJK put in a shocker last start. Prior form in Saturday class was super. Good maiden this. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – GINGER GREEN WIN RACE 3 SAUVEGARDE just found the 1300m a bit too far last start. Comes back 70m and if Ryan Hill can cross them without doing too much work in the early stages then he’ll pinch a breather and then go for home in typical Boy Hill fashion. Looks a nice race for her on paper. ANGELIQUES FAME is the obvious danger and likely jumps favourite of the pair. Can not fault her form and the Parnham/Lane combination is a WA favourite for punters. LONG KNIFE BROTHER is hard to catch but talented on his day. MAGIC OPUS is going well and drawn a gate to get a lovely cart into the race. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SAUVEGARDE WIN RACE 4 ALPHA AND OMEGA is a last start Saturday 3 year old plate winner beating Time Scale and Sassy Trader. Really good form for a C2 at Albany and looks the kind of filly who can definitely return to the metro area sooner rather than later. Should land on the back of the speed pair and from there should make her presence felt. STRATHMORE ROSE was let loose on Monday by Madi Derrick and never looked like being run down. Will need to cross Ibiza and Endovanera here and that means they’ll be flying. IBIZA with the claim is not impossible but will have to absorb some serious pressure. ENDOVANERA went super at her Stephen Sheehy debut. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – ALPHA AND OMEGA WIN RACE 5 CHOOSE TO CRUISE won a maiden brilliantly going back 5 starts ago and then has been luckless in deeper races than this. Most recently on Monday went around a $3.50 favourite in a 68+ at 1920 against some seasoned older horses and was left floundering at the back. Backs up, senior rider on, back in trip, back in grade. Ticks plenty of boxes. VICIOUS VILMA can mix her form but she’s going well enough to run a cheeky race ere. SCHOOLWORK has been going well for Sarah Searle and Jess Gray is riding in magnificent form. KAZKAZI went close on Monday and is drawn another ideal alley. Numbers: 4 – 12 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – CHOOSE TO CRUISE WIN RACE 6 FANGIO is looking for 4 in a row and is really starting to build an imposing record. Arguably should have won each of her starts this preparation when she begun the campaign racing without any luck at all. Now won three on the trot and while she faces her toughest test to date with 60kg she is showing versatility. Let down brilliantly last start to win in a canter. TRADENSIA will jump and run with 3kg claimer Angela Johnston aboard. Last start she ran them along 9.5L faster than average to the 600m. Great effort considering the tempo set. FUEL THE FRIAR is getting mighty close and like a number of these has significant weight on the top two. SMART FASCINATOR is the kind of mare who can roll forward and keep battling outside Tradensia. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – FANGIO WIN RACE 7 WILD FUSION comes back to 1230m, the same trip which saw him run a highly impressive second to Echo Effect in the Fitzpatrick Plate. That day he beat home Resortman and Diablerie which is super form for a 70+. Runs into One Short who will be a massive danger but with the barrier advantage excepting Chris Parnham to lift him home to the backflips of Micky McGlade. ONE SHORT comes out of a super form reference race at Ascot where he ran out of his skin. Rarely seen in Albany and when he does start in the Great Southern he wins more often than not. POTENT SECRET gets in with a winnable weight after the popular claim for Holly Watson. SIR SNUGALOT can lead or box seat. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – WILD FUSION WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,9 2,3,4,9,12 1,2 5,6 Market Market
