Scott Embry’s Saturday’s Esperance Preview Posted on December 10, 2020December 11, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AIN’T I A WOMAN finds a new home with Robert Payton. He does a super job with his little team of horses in the region and this filly has always shown an abundance of ability at trials but been unable to bring it on race day. If Victoria Corver leaves cleanly she should lead and run them hard. GOODBYEFEDS has had his fair share of chances but another new environment and a freshen put him in the mix. ASTRALADER is first-up and tries hard. ORNAMENTAL BELLE was a solid run on debut at 100-1. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – AIN’T I A WOMAN WIN RACE 2 JOLLY LACE has her first start in the Esperance region for new trainer Rickie Brown. This is a thin maiden where a lot of them have had their chance and she bring alternate metro and provincial maiden form to the race. Hasn’t been that bad this preparation. SHE’S A RULER is knocking on the door and clearly will prove hard to beat. FOXY DREAMER trialled particularly well in sharp time. Looks to have returned well. NO STOPPING ME NOW is never far from the winner. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – JOLY LACE EACHWAY RACE 3 HUSSTARR definitely knows how to run a minor placing. Has been knocking on the door for two different trainers over her entire 11 start career. First-up run was excellent and 7 days later she gets another wonderful opportunity to finally score a deserved win. DO IT RIGHT looked in trouble turning for home at Mt Barker but kept finding under pressure. AURAE is becoming the next Sigil. Looms and just won’t finish it off. STRICT RULER has been a touch disappointing since an encouraging trial at Lark Hill. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – HUSSTARR WIN RACE 4 SASSATIONAL was the run of the meeting last weekend when settling a postcode off the leader’s and rattling home in all the most impressive sectionals. Helen Harding has her going super and if she can reproduce that run off 7 days then they’ll struggle to hold her out late. SOUND OF FURY was just as good in the same race. A scenario where you could back both would be ideal. MORE FIZZ brings alternate form and Josh Brown can improve them. LADY VITAL is racing well. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – SASSATIONAL WIN RACE 5 GLUTEN FREE hasn’t been seen for 21 days whereas most of the field back up off 7 days. Capable of crossing from the outside gate and the appointment of Simone Altieri should mean that he is ridden for speed. Blinkers go on and is well suited to this grade and race. DEEL RED resumes off 70 days and on his day he could sit back and gun them down. UNIKAT is going well this preparation. From the draw should get every favour. PELICAN PICK was better last week. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – GLUTEN FREE WIN RACE 6 ABU DHABI looks set to run them into the ground again. Was sent to the top last start and is the perfect claiming apprentice’s horse. Only goes up 0.5kg and should again cross those drawn underneath and from there Hannah Fitzgerald holds all the cards. Lovely country type. GREYWOLF wasn’t too bad last week and on the quick back-up with weight relief can pose a threat. GILLESPIE has won three on the bounce but this is harder. Being ridden perfectly by Angie Johnston. ANOTHER DEMON never far away. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ABU DHABI WIN RACE 7 OSO TEMPTING is only having his second start in WA, 55 days after making his debut at Kalgoorlie. His overall ratings from his East Coast days are excellent for a race like this. He gets in with no weight, drawn the inside gate. Keep very safe. ARSINOE is flying through the grades and won impressively again last week. The way she’s going she’ll be awfully hard to beat. PASTRY is going a length or two below her best but can rebound quickly. WILLHEGO WEST can grow wings when the races are run to suit. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – OSO TEMPTING EACHWAY RACE 8 SUN POWER looks a brilliant acquisition for Meryl Hayley. With his natural front running race pattern he’ll again roll forward from the wide gate and if they let him cross he’ll likely skip away on the corner. Type of horse who could go right through the grades. DIRTY DOT was heavily commissioned last start but didn’t really fire to market expectations. COCKY ED resumes and after the claim drops a stack of weight in the same grade as last start. ABOARD is a capable type who Freddo Brown should have some fun with. Numbers: 1 – 12 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – SUN POWER WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,4,5,7,8 2 2,6,7 1,12 Market Market
