Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on December 10, 2020December 11, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 OCEAN CANDY looks to have found her race at start number 14. Ran fourth last Thursday at Northam behind Doowahdiddy (who will give punters an insight into the strength of the form on Wednesday at Ascot), Port Beach and Sun Chacen who all look capable of winning maidens. Chris Parnham realigns the GPS from Ascot to Albany in a rare venture to the Great Southern and should get off to a flyer. ANGELIC MOON is no star but ran well last start. COOL LINGO wasn’t disgraced behind Island Missile, Rock Hard Omaru and Convalesce. JACK IN THE BLACK ran well last start. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – OCEAN CANDY WIN RACE 2 KING OF THE JIVE looked handy at the recent Albany trials when skipping around in 1:02:04 which was quicker than the Mr Pago/Sax on Que/Chasing Chaos/Freo trial for the open class horses. Drawn wide on debut but there isn’t a deal of depth to the field. OUR PANDEMONIUM didn’t get the rub of the green last start at Mt Barker. First-up performance was strong. ANGELIC ENCORE was easily as good a trial as King Of Jive. CATCHYA CATCHYA finds a new home with Roy Rogers and some of the trial and race efforts were quite alright. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – KING OF THE JIVE WIN RACE 3 MODERN TIMES looks like an ideal Carleen Hefel horse. She is an astute front running rider with a claim and Modern Times comes from a C3 at Bunbury, back into a C2 at Albany. Provided he doesn’t have to absorb too much pressure early then he’ll look the winner turning for home. SPORTY SPICE won well last start and is an excellent use of Hannah Fitzgerald’s claim. DYNAMITE BAY improved sharply last start and can hold form. SHESAPOCKET ROCKET hails from the strike rate stable of Earl O’Loughlin. With right run can win. Numbers 1 – 3 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – MODERN TIMES WIN RACE 4 DEANGLES has been caught in this grade for a long while and has been too competitive and consistent to drop any points and weight. Most recent run he finished seventh but in a 60+ behind What About Moses, Magic Opus, Read The Riot Act, Long Knife Brother, Little Punga and Danehill Storm. He beat home Willow River and Dynamite Bay. Clearly good enough form to break through back into C2 company. THE SPRUIKER has done a great job already this preparation. Was the beneficiary of a Snaggers Sardelic Special at Barker and then backed it up last time out with an encouraging display. GALLANT RANGER should be given every mortal hope from the ideal draw. FANGIO ran well first-up at 1450. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – DEANGLES WIN RACE 5 RECAITULATE comes up into c70+ company but gets in with a postage stamp 54.5kg. If he leaves cleanly, he should have the toe to hold out Corporate Larrikin and lead them up. If not, he box seats and is still a big winning chance. Brings alternate form to most of these who have been running around against each other week in, week out for 3 years. CORPORATE LARRIKIN is racing full of heart. His last start effort at Bunbury was nothing short of enormous. Great to see him racing so well as an 11 year old. Hats off to Angela Smith. FREO could blow them to pieces if Bec Wallrodt has him right. Has been a long time since he was at his best sadly. REALISE POTENTIAL is never far away. Numbers: 11 – 5 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – RECAPITULATE EACHWAY RACE 6 SAX ON QUE was a shade disappointing at Mt Barker first-up when unable to go on with it after looming into the race at the 600. Was no match for the sustained effort of Athlone Castle but worth another go in this grade, on the minimum with Jade McNaught in the saddle. CARESS YOUR SOUL gets in with no weight and the fresh run at Barker was excellent. DANEHILL STORM looks like getting the run of the race. SAUVEGARDE ran herself off her own legs last start. Interesting to see how she goes without blinkers. Numbers: 14 – 12 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – SAX ON QUE EACHWAY RACE 7 BENTLEY’S BROTHER draws the inside gate and has finally hit form after looming into races at Kalgoorlie and not quite finishing off as expected. Helen Harding’s split team between Albany and Esperance are going well and from the draw he can settle in the box seat. No reason why he can’t win back to back races. YOU AM I is extremely well placed this grade. Chris Parnham/Michael Lane at Albany on a Friday #dangerous. GO CRYING and SEA WAR are both talented horses who are capable of winning better races than a mere c58+ at Albany. Both need an ounce of luck from the draw. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – BENTLEY’S BROTHER EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,5,6,7 2,5,11 1,3,5,7,12,14 1,2,3,4,7
