Scott Embry’s Saturday Roebourne Preview Posted on July 27, 2023July 27, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SIXPENCE SPENT is flying. He’s about to turn 12 years old but he’s still racing with incredible zest and consistency. He was no match for War Warrior and Land Of Valens at Port Hedland last Saturday over 1300m but coming back to 1200m makes him hard to get past. ZJP riding him really well and drawn inside of Debit Credit he gets his chance to beat him to the punch. DEBIT CREDIT toyed with them at Roebourne over 1100m a fortnight ago. Looks the danger. WELD looked like he had War Warrior on toast two starts ago but can turn it up late in his races. KING OF PLANETS next best. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – SIXPENCE SPENT WIN RACE 2 WHIM CREEK was too strong late in the Marble Bar Cup over 1600m and now tests the waters at 1800. Amazing how these horses can go to the dirt and find another couple of furlongs in distance. Does rise 4.5kg but also comes back in grade from a 64+ to a 56+. KELLYS LASSIE is another perfect example of this – she was a 1200 – 1400m filly on the grass but ran out a strong mile last Saturday at Port Hedland and now they get out to 1800m. In form – why not? AUGUSTA RED loved dirt life when zapping Raging Beauty at Carnarvon. SIR DIAMOND next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – WHIM CREEK WIN RACE 3 SALCHINO won back to back races on the dirt – a maiden at Roebourne by almost 4L and then a C1 at Port Hedland by over 2L. She then went to a 56+ 1200 at Port Hedland last Saturday and was no match for Femme Puissante, What A Prince and King Hallowell. This looks a far easier race for her and she drops 4kg with the Ava Catarino claim. ZEEWIJK is a Roebourne specialist and this is really good placement by Cathy Godden to drop him back into this grade. Rosie Mahony had a day out at Port Hedland last weekend and this is very winnable for him. MYSTERY MAN was a sharp improver last start. DECOY BELLE next best. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SALCHINO WIN RACE 4 OUR KIWI PRINCESS comes back to 1200m which looks to suit. This race doesn’t have a whole lot of speed so she rolls forward into a commanding position and the Kyra Yuill/Tom Pike combination are hard to beat. SHAMARA finished fourth at Roebourne at her first-up run this preparation. She was beaten almost 4L but the run still had a level of merit to it. Drops back from a 56+ to a C3 and her two wins on the dirt at Carnarvon were really impressive. WARPIPES has been running some ripper races at Carnarvon but leaving himself too much to do. AMELIA’S BELIEF just needs to jump cleanly to be a big winning chance. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – OUR KIWI PRINCESS WIN RACE 5 PURE DYNAMITE should be hard to beat in this. He goes well fresh (placed off 35 days behind Three Sessions at Geraldton, finished 1L off them off 46 days when doing it tough). He was a 56+ 1200m winner at Carnarvon at his first start on the dirt and Graeme Hammarquist may well have targeted this race with him. Nice placement. GRATED COCONUT is not an easy horse to catch. He is hit and miss out of the machine and he mixes his form. Best is easily good enough. Respect. GINGER KNIGHT has had a freshen. Yet to find his dirt feet. JUPITERS SUN a watch. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – PURE DYNAMITE WIN RACE 6 THE RED SEA is a staying type who looks like he is poised and ready to strike in the $50,000 Roebourne Cup. Building and building all preparation and now gets out to a full 2230m and considering he was an all the way winner over 2500m in Adelaide with 60kg he’ll see out the trip no worries. Timing looks right. HEZAZEB is drawn wide but can roll forward. He’ll need to prove himself at the staying trips but Tom Pike’s team are peaking. GALIBA gives Ava Catarino her first genuine look in at a Country Cup. Last week at Port Hedland was only 3L off Elafella and The Red Sea in a muddling run race that didn’t really suit. WAR CLASS won well last weekend and drops 4kg. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – THE RED SEA WIN RACE 7 SECRET LAIR has been racing consistently on the dirt all season. Three separate placings – two at Port Hedland and one at Carnarvon and with the Rosie Mahony claim drops 2kg from another honest effort at Carnarvon last Friday. Parks up over the speed and looks a very winnable race for him. OFF THIS PLANET has been running consistent races without winning. Probably the weakest race he’s seen. HAWK beat him home last start and is every chance to do so again. 14th run of the campaign but still producing. EXILE TED could give cheek if he found the top. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – SECRET LAIR WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,6 1,2,6,7 1,3,5,10 3,4,7 Market Market
