Scott Embry’s Saturday Port Hedland Preview Posted on June 24, 2021June 24, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 TOP POCKET was the target of big money in pre-post markets last start and didn’t get the most favourable of runs when tramping deep throughout. The step to 1400m suits, the barrier is ideal and he should be within striking distance in the small field. MAJOR LEAGUE looked the winner for 1198m last start before being nabbed on the post. LOCKAWAY THE CASH drops 3kg and wasn’t too bad last start. LETS HAVACRACK has shown glimpses. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – TOP POCKET WIN RACE 2 MISS BRIGHTON broke her maiden over 1000 at Carnarvon before stepping to 1300m at Port Hedland and running a solid third behind Galiba who has made the form look good since. Kept fresh, drops back to 1200 and looks like settling outside likely leader Mammie. From there she’s hard to beat. NORTHERN CHILL was a big improver last start and chased hard throughout. NOBLE SPIRIT hasn’t had any luck at Broome. This is a weaker race. MAMMIE showed that the maiden win at odds was no fluke last start with a solid effort. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – MISS BRIGHTON WIN RACE 3 BIG CAROLINE was an alarming drifter last start and was slow away and never looked likely in running. Willing to forgive and forget because her previous two wins were dominant and the stable is flying. SHACKLETON got the better of them last start and gets an identical run throughout. Darryn Pateman has him going well and there’s no reason why he can’t win again. HERITAGE SASH got no luck last start when tramping wide throughout. MISS HARLEY QUINN can sneak through to lead. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – BIG CAROLINE WIN RACE 4 PATYS FORCAST was sent forward last start and did a lot of work early to get there. Then attacked the leader a fair way from home in a race where they were really skipping along already. First 800m was run 10L faster than C3 average and they were off their feet in the home straight. Should be a good platform from which to break through here. PROCEEDS OF CRIME is a new comer to the region and should be suited to dirt racing rolling along out in front. ROSE THEIF comes from the highest rating race of the season behind Playing Zeus. Keep safe. AMBER HIGHWAY was good first-up and second-up. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – PATYS FORCAST WIN RACE 5 PLAYING ZEUS is smashing the clock and simply a different horse when finding the front. No guarantee to cross In The Bag here which would make things interesting but he’ll still be the target of massive market support. Came from a race run 3L faster than average and was $3.20 into $1.80. Won by a space stopping the clock in a time 7L faster than average. IN THE BAG the was strong and gritty last start. Ready to win. GALIBA is in a purple patch of form. SCINTILLATING was some sort of win last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – PLAYING ZEUS WIN RACE 6 CULZEAN ran third behind Big Caroline and Chesten Flyer two starts ago before running second to Shackleton at his most recent. Drops in grade from a 68+ and looks well placed into this. From the inside draw should be right over the top of the speed and it’s hard to knock his form. Gets his chance. SIXPENCE SPENT was impressive last start when bursting through the gap in style. BITOVEMU comes up in grade but gets weight relief. FERNGROVE is quickly building to another win but may need further. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – CULZEAN WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,3 2,6,7 2,3 FD
