Scott Embry’s Saturday Mount Magnet Preview Posted on September 18, 2025September 18, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 IMPENDING FEATURE finished second to Kimberley Currency and beat home key rival Blitz over 1000m at Carnarvon and then last Saturday kept whacking away behind Scary Mary and Casino Royale. This looks a thinner maiden and from barrier 1 kicks through to lead with no weight on her back. Right set up to break through. HARD TO TOP is a month between runs and the Broome placings are the best form in the race. LEAD CINGA won a Belmont Park trial over 1000m but it was very slow and they were all under extreme pressure. WESTRIVER DYNIQUE improved second-up on the dirt and now has a lugging bit and a tongue tie added. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – IMPENDING FEATURE WIN RACE 2 SCHNOOTS enjoyed a great NW season with a maiden win, a C2 win and a 56+ all in succession. Beaten big margins at her last two at Broome and Newman but she’s had a month’s freshen and looks like she’ll lob into a beautiful spot from the inside draw. Either kicks through to lead or box seats. MAKE MINE SUPER resumed at Carnarvon off a 7 week let up and was only 5L off a flying Oscar Charlie at a distance short of his best. This is very winnable for him. DEAL OBTAINED and FRIES WITH THAT have had long campaigns travelling the entire State but continue to race well. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SCHNOOTS WIN RACE 3 DOLCE DIVA races on the dirt for the first time in her but considering she broke her maiden so impressively on the Fibre Sand at Bunbury there has to be a level of confidence that she’ll handle the surface. She’s really quick and 1000m on the dirt should be a really nice set up for her. OCEAN OUTLAW has the runs on the board with two wins in Broome. On the 28 day freshen and a last start winner back in grade. Huge respect. SHASFA is going well and should enjoy a soft run tucked away in behind the speed. BERRY BERRY GOOD is a rare type who can cop a face full of kick back and fight through it. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – DOLCE DIVA WIN RACE 4 FIRST BEACH is a Peters Investments galloper racing on the dirt at Mt Magnet – it’s a new world. 3L off Prospectors Pick, On The Full and Shooting Spirit in a 60+ Graduation over 1000m first-up last campaign (after winning a Belmont 1000m trial). If this was grass he’d be $1.20, but it’s dirt so beware of launching into the unknown. IMA WILD GIRL raced really well at Broome to end her NW campaign, including splitting Commissions and Mocha Dream in the Sprint. GET OUT MICK has probably targeted this meeting for months. MAGNASONIC should be a nice acquisition for Farrell racing. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – FIRST BEACH WIN RACE 5 PLAYING AROUND is the full brother to a Group One winner and now races on the dirt at Mt Magnet. Hasn’t been seen for 38 days since being beaten 7.5L at Belmont Park and now has a set of shades going on. Best horse in the race by 5L but will he handle the kick back? MAGNABURMA led and won back to back 58+ 1435m races at Broome back in June. Form since hasn’t been the same but no doubt would have benefitted from a freshen. KINGS CALL is all or nothing. Won two races from 7 starts this prep: 6.4L and 7.2L. Otherwise unsighted. HEY BULL showed the Junction win was no fluke at Carnarvon. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – PLAYING AROUND WIN RACE 6 LONG GENES is yet another who would be prohibitively short on the grass, and so wary of the fact the market may price him that way, even though he’s first start on the dirt which is always a risk, but he’s fit, he’s going well and he’s probably not a 2200m horse so the drop back in trip suits as well. Drawn wide > drawn inside first time on the dirt. GOT LUCKY won the Leonora, Leinster and Laverton Cup treble in 2024 so while his grass form is atrocious it would be no surprise to see him bounce back on the dirt. DO IT RIGHT ran second in the Derby Cup at 1800m. ALNAUD was likely purchased for this exact race and heads into it fresh off finally breaking through start 26. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – LONG GENES WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 2,4 4,5 1,2,3 1,3,4,6 Market Market
