Scott Embry’s Saturday Moora Preview Posted on October 8, 2021October 8, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLOCK OF LAND finds a new home with Tank Pateman. Not an easy horse to ride and does a fair few things wrong. Probably the most talented animal in the race but certainly not an easy steer for #Kathy. If she can keep him out of trouble he’ll be doing his best late. Third to Dad’s Bigheaded only three starts back reads up well. PLAYING UP went via Dongara at Geraldton when speared off the corner straightening for home. Was a far better run than it looks and should get a lovely run here. FROSTY BAY should find the front and that’s big leg up. ILLMATIC won well at Mt Magnet and this isn’t a whole lot deeper. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – BLOCK OF LAND WIN RACE 2 ZEEWIJK looks to have found his maiden. Fifth at Belmont behind Hoover, Red Hot Hope, Atlantis Beach and Forty Niner. Fourth at Toodyay when run down in the home straight at 1350m and now comes back to 1100m and to Moora. Kate Southam will be looking to jump and run, cross them and kick for home on the corner. Looks his race. MINE DETECTOR finds a new home and from the inside gate should position up trailing Zeewijk throughout. Looks the danger. SEEKANUGGET comes back 1000m in distance but has been racing well. IT AIN’T EASY wasn’t hopeless at trials. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – ZEEWIJK RACE 3 SALCITY can give trainer Alistair Chegwidden his first winner as a trainer after breaking his heart at Toodyay. Was in front everywhere but the post and with The Anvil winning again at York on Thursday it looks the standout form reference. There’s speed in this race but with the advantage of gate 1 Tash Faithfull should hold the top and from there he’s the one to beat. Go well you beautiful battler. OLD BAILEY is no slouch and will come across and find the breeze. Strong win from the breeze at Newman two starts back. LORDING showed enough ability to be winning in town early days. The wheels have certainly fallen off. FASCINATION goes well in these picnic style meetings. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – SALCITY WIN RACE 4 STRIDE OUT finished third to Catia and Behrooz in a 64+ third to Kramden and Woodbug in a 56+, won a 56+ at Carnarvon and then was disappointing with 61kg at Mt Magnet when fading badly late to be beaten a margin. Tash Faithfull sticks, finds a race without a leader and should be able to work his way to the breeze outside Spirit of Prophecy and from there he can bounce back. SPIRIT OF PROPHECY was enormous at York behind subsequent winner Carabinier two starts ago. She’s a bit of a tease but this looks a nice race for her. DEMERITISE won first-up no trial at Roebourne and is a recent 1000m trial winner over talented 4 year old Mercanto at Belmont. Reproduces her trial effort and she’s very hard to beat. THE DIVINE WIND destroyed them at Carnarvon at the last meeting of the year. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – STRIDE OUT EACHWAY RACE 5 SPEED ‘N’ REEF is an old marvel. 12 years young, 100 career outings and he brought up his ton with a win in the Mt Magnet Cup with 60kg. Prior to that he finished sixth in a super high rating Carnarvon Cup where Marxian simply smashed the clock and destroyed them by over 8L, second in the Newman Cup to Schooling, third in the Port Hedland Cup to subsequent Broome Cup winner Staaden and third in the Roebourne Cup to Scenic Lord. The old boy still has wins in his legs and this is another Cup where he’ll be competitive. ADMIRAL PROMO looked a special in the Toodyay Cup and was backed accordingly. This is a deeper race but gives returning hoop Kate Witten a great opportunity. OMBUDSMAN looks like getting a great run throughout. SMOKING BARREL was doing his best late in the Toodyay Cup and gets 1kg off Admiral Promo. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – SPEED ‘N’ REEF WIN RACE 6 IN THE BAG returns to where it all began in the colours of Sue Olive and Goldfront Breeding. Had a wonderful NW campaign with Darryn Pateman and coming back to 1500m he looks hard to run past. Jess Gray rides him brilliantly and he’ll be turning this into a genuinely run 1500. PERFECT HARMONY has the talent to be competitive up in grade. Was plunged unsuccessfully first-up in Geraldton. WHAT PLANET YOU ON has had a freshen and makes her Hammarquist debut. Keep safe at odds. THE CHORISTER is always competitive in these kinds of races. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – IN THE BAG WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,4 1,2,3,5,7 1,2,3,5,8 1,3 Market Market
