Scott Embry’s Saturday Kununurra Preview Posted on August 21, 2025August 21, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FABERGE TZAR has won two of his last seven: RB58 1600 and RB62 1600, both when settling close handy and pulling clear late. He drops 6.5kg on his last start minor and if he crosses Princess Pancakes in the early stages he leads and controls. Looks the one. PRINCESS PANCAKES was able to prove herself at a mile back in May before a freshen. She’s a class dropper and a previous winner at Kununurra. HOLSTEIN is a bit out of form at the minute but blinkers should help. MIRACOLI wants further. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – FABERGE TZAR WIN RACE 2 ALOTTA DANE won the final race of the Broome season last weekend on Cup Day with a dominant 2.4L win over 2070. On the 7 day back-up he drops in distance and drops in grade and love the fact that Roy Rogers has left Austin Galati on. Austin had 5 rides at Kununurra last year for 2 winners and Roy had 17 runners for 4 winners. Hard stats to ignore. IM A DREAMER ran twice at Kununurra last year and ran second on both occasions in BM56 1600s (same track/distance/grade). REBELLIOUS HOPE is on the back-up and should lead but through a woeful race at Katherine. HOLLERBYEBABY still building. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – ALOTTA DANE WIN RACE 3 THE STIFMEISTER backed up off 7 days from a BM54 at Katherine to win at Kununurra in a BM56 in 2024. Tayarn Halter does the same in 2025. Has dropped nearly 10 ratings points since then and going to suggest that history is a chance to repeat here. CHEDDAR BOB (Robert to his parents) heads across to Kununurra with Kelvin Moore after an honest Broome prep with regular trainer Michael Ball. His recent effort only 2L off Canggu, Rommels Jeuney and Fries With That is good enough to bounce back. STARTON takes up a prominent position and was brave two back when wide throughout before throwing away any chance last time out at barrier rise. BOOM SMASH OPERA improved last start. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – THE STIFMEISTER WIN RACE 4 MAGIC DEFENSE went around in an RB70 last start and was beaten less than 4L in a race where they went 5L faster than average F600 and then still came home 4L faster than average L600. That should be a plunge race times wise and she’s back in grade sharply here into a BM56. Great race for her. THE FINAL WORD is very lightly raced after starting his career in Hong Kong and has shown plenty of promise recently in Darwin. Big threat. HIDE THE OREOS had his 17th run of the prep last week and won well at Broome. THE GIRLS BOY is very consistent. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – MAGIC DEFENSE WIN RACE 5 BUCKLEUP BUDDY is last start C2 winner and when you considering that both of his career wins are leading throughout under Paul Denton and this race does lack a bit of pace outside of him and Cousin Nicci then he looms as the main player. COUSIN NICCI can show speed and if Jerry Noske was to find the top then the mare would give plenty of cheek. Has been up and down in distance all prep. DUMMY SPIT can box seat and is a 4x winner taking on moderate opposition. ROSE OF DENMARK next best simply because Austin is on! Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – BUCKLEUP BUDDY WIN RACE 6 VALAROC is a 4x winner and two starts ago over 1100m at Broome did some work in running and was still there with 50m to go at 30-1. The races don’t get any weaker than this and Austin takes over. THANK GOD I GOTHIM has run minors at his last 5 and while a maiden in a BM48 he is certainly knocking on the door. He can roll to the top and from there he should be given every chance to out grind them and pinch one. BOOMERCONI won a BM48 1100 at Kununurra last season at massive odds. LEAN ON ME an improver. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – VALAROC WIN RACE 7 TELLEZ led and won an RB66 two starts back – that’s the best form in this race. Paul Denton has had 27 rides at Kununurra across the last two seasons at 22% strike rate – he’s worth following and this looks a great race for Tellez. CITY OF SIN won back to back races at Broome to finish the season and the win on Ladies Day was outstanding. Ocean Outlaw won out of that race on Cup Day and while this is clearly deeper he’s in great form. FAST FREEZE is 7 weeks between runs. Watch for any Dick Leech money across the entire program. HELLIVIT dominated at Katherine. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – TELLEZ WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,3,4 1,2,5 1,3,5 1,2 Market Market
