Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on October 3, 2024October 4, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 IFFUBLUSH was scratched from a winnable maiden on Hannans Day to save for this (and to save for William Pike). First run for Peter Fernie was a ripper behind Big Player when bursting through late, second-up run was held up but at the same time was a bit flat before bouncing back last start to finish second behind impressive winner Date Withthe Devil. Looks hard to beat here. AHREA went around 100-1 last Sunday at Bunbury but found the line strongly behind Amazing Cheat. 6 days later a senior goes on. POLYVANOVA scratched from Geraldton to save for this and can lead. MANGANUI is trying hard. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – IFFUBLUSH WIN RACE 2 UNCOMPROMISED won the Tatts Cup with 60kg on his back before being taken to town last start when sitting three deep throughout in a 72+ behind Buckets Ridge and Captain Pluto. He’s in wonderful form and heading back to the Goldfields and back into a 60+ Graduation looks to have found a great set up. DON’T WAIT FOR LUCK has been belting lesser opposition, however, the horse he beat two starts back Lucky Lily has won twice since and he gets 4.5kg weight relief. DECORATION has returned in good order and can lead them up. MORE THAN ENUFF backs up from a weight carrying win Wednesday. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – UNCOMPROMISED EACHWAY RACE 3 SECRET ATTRACTION has been another wonderful find for Andrew Inglis and Peter Fernie as they continue to acquire ex-Bob Peters gallopers who are working their way through the grades brilliantly on the Goldfields. She’s already a Graduation winner at Ascot and the way she won last start she’ll be very popular and very hard to beat again. MANAVENDRA comes through the In Good Order / Simply formline that is continuing to produce winner after winner. EXCELTRAIN gave plenty of cheek before being run down by an in form Desert Nymph last start. LORD GANNICUS has turned into a very consistent conveyance in the last 6 months. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – SECRET ATTRACTION WIN RACE 4 SECRET IDENTITY has been to Kalgoolie once and came out victorious and he looks just about ready to peak here third-up. Would have preferred if this race was over 1600m for him but with a small and limited line-up in opposition he looks to get a great chance from an ideal barrier for Lucy Fiore who has been riding Kalgoorlie brilliantly all season. REIGN OF FIRE was only 2L off Colossal / Sentimental Hero / Staralign last start. FULL OF MERIT couldn’t find the top last start and really never travelled the winner at any stage. Not an easy horse to catch. KIRALUI has turned a corner. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – SECRET IDENTITY EACHWAY RACE 5 ABLOH won the Kambalda Cup in style when unleashing a powerful turn of foot down the home straight. He didn’t go to the Hannans because as a m69 rater it would have been way too many points to risk and instead there’s this ideal 70+ 1400 for him on Cup Day. Hard to hold out. STARALIGN ran really well with 62kg in the Open Sprint on Boulder Cup Day and then was unlucky (like many) in a messy run Hannans Handicap on Wednesday. Year in, year out these horses who run in the Hannans (or at the program) and then back-up on Cup Day go particularly well. COLOSSAL has found his feet on the Goldfields. INFLUENCING was back to near his best last start. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – ABLOH WIN RACE 6 EEVALINA was one of very few horses in the first 6 races at Kalgoorlie on Wednesday to make any discernible ground from the back of the field and she did so under 60kg. Backs up from Wednesday to Saturday, drops down to 56.5kg and draws to get a much softer run. She’s been racing very well all campaign and this is winnable for her. DREAMTIME JEAN didn’t give it away first-up behind Prospector’s Pick and subsequent winner Stormageddon first-up and does his best work on the Goldfields. DANCE OF THUNDER and LAQUETTA’S GIFT both ran well in the Colossal / Sentimental Hero / Staralign race on Boulder Cup Day. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – EEVALINA WIN RACE 7 ZAZA ROCK has only had three starts for Grant & Alana Williams and should be getting better at each and every one from now on. She stepped out to 1850m when winning the Toodyay Cup and only last season at Belmont she went close in a 66+ staying race. Versatile mare who can continue to improve. RYEWOOD has run some massive races in defeat this season and deserves to win another before the end of her preparation. Looms as the main danger. QUEEN OF JERUSALEM has had a long preparation but continues to run well. DANCING JACK put in a Dancing Jack type of run last start. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – ZAZA ROCK WIN RACE 8 STARRY HEIGHTS went to a whole new level last start in the Boulder Cup when putting the race away in a matter of strides with a blistering turn of foot on straightening. He had been racing like he wanted further and that win simply justified what the eye was telling you. Going to take a big effort to hold him out. IOWA looms as the obvious danger and expect that they may look to lead here to give himself a fighting chance of beating Starry Heights. COME RIGHT BACK will appreciate the extra ground. STOP DREAMING brings the alternative formlines. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – STARRY HEIGHTS WIN Same Race Multi – Starry Heights (Top 2) + Iowa (Top 2) Difficult to grind out much value in the 2024 Kalgoorlie Cup in what looks a two horse race between Boulder Cup winner Starry Heights and runner-up Iowa. This is a fixed odds quinella bet using the same race multi functionality and the option is always there to turn it into a exacta using Win + Top 2. RACE 9 SUNNY HONEY has started to return to the form he showed 12 – 18 months ago and should get a lovely camp on the leaders at an eachway price. Last weekend at Belmont he ran into a potential Pinnacles horse in Rope Them In and previously undefeated mare Toropa and wasn’t disgraced into third. SECRET STYLE has been one of the finds of the winter in Kalgoorlie. She has gone from a maiden through to a $100,000 Ron Sayers Sprint (66+) all in the one preparation and she’s getting in on the minimum. PROSPECTOR’S PICK has been targeted at this race but will need to burn early. CAN’T BE DONE will go around a big price but is capable. Numbers: 3 – 12 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – SUNNY HONEY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3,4,5,6 2,4 2,5 1,2,3,7,10,12 Market Market
