Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on October 5, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 PRATTLE has had excuses at both career runs to date and this looks his right kind of race. Expect Jordan Turner may roll forwards and take bad luck out of the equation. Should be a price in an even race. MOSCHARD is clearly the horse to beat. He is going as good as he possibly could and it took a smart one to beat him on the Traditional Annual Hannans Handicap day. PRO FESSIONAL must be respected coming from the powerful Durrant yard. GLITCH INTHESYSTEM wasn’t disgraced behind Admiral Husson. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – PRATTLE EACHWAY Race 2 GALVESTON BAY settled back and couldn’t reel in the leader Hayan Lad on Wednesday. The run was full of merit and there was a lot of confidence oozing from the camp when interviewed on Wednesday. DISCO METAL was unlucky last start in the sense that even the legendary W. Pike couldn’t get her a clear run to the line. SLICK MOVER is first up heading towards Esperance. His previous Goldfields form reads well behind Bollywood Blitz and Thidwick The Moose. CHANTEGO STAR has been a great mare for team ‘Popeye’. Be great to see the mare run a race. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet – GALVESTON BAY WIN Race 3 MERVYN won a class one race in May. 5 months later is carrying the top weight in open class on Cup day. A phenomenal season and win number 6 would be a fitting way to see the front running champ finish the local season. GENERAL HUSSON hails from the state’s leading yard and has only been finishing just behind some talented typed. Definitely the one to beat. BOS TAURUS has blinkers on and apprentice on so one would imagine the sparks will fly early. ANOTHER DEMON is shooting for 3 in a line but is drawn awkwardly. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – MERVYN WIN Race 4 GANGBUSTER was the target of solid market support on debut for Mr Peter Fernie and the money landed in a big way. Connections suggested post race if he gets his confidence back he will head to town. This looks his race. PARADISE SQUARE was a super run given he was held up while the winner was winding up down the middle. ARGOON was an impressive maiden winner, getting the better of Duck Duck Goose who blitzed rivals 7 days later. THE EXPRESS can give some cheek at a track he has had success at in the past. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – GANGBUSTER WIN Race 5 HE SAID SHE SAID is another who backs up from Wednesdays meeting and ticks enough boxes to go on top here. Lands in his customary leading role and from there takes some running down. JIMMY RAPID has so far failed to fire at this circuit but if we see his best he can give this a real shake. OORAH set the track alight before a tilt at two of the feature staying races. This is lengths easier. BOOMA LACKA is an on speed grinder. The Dellar yard was on fire Hannans day. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – HE SAID SHE SAID WIN Race 6 SPIRITUAL WARRIOR looks one of the region’s leading up and coming stayers. He gets a dream run from the gate and in the words of his loyal strapper Paul Sortras “Bucky just wins”. ILLMATIC was something beaten when afforded no luck down the home straight Wednesday. He looks progressive. VOLKSWAGEN FRANK should’ve run closer to last than first given the run he was afforded. Big win in maiden grade. BANTRY is probably better suited at 1760m. A shade disappointing for his loyal followers Wednesday. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SPIRITUAL WARRIOR WIN Race 7 AT THE READY is the fresh horse on the scene. Skipping the Boulder Cup could end up being a stroke of genius by the Durrant stable. Some of his form at WFA earlier in the preparation is super for a race like this. FIRST AFFAIR has been huge in both feature races thus far and there is nothing to suggest she cannot achieve the Boulder/Kalgoorlie cup double. STATE PROSECUTOR likely settles last and comes with one well timed run. Peter Hall is the Cups king and always takes off at the right time. GLORYLAND finds the front in a small field with no speed and we know how tough he is to catch. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – AT THE READY EACHWAY Race 8 NAZARETH narrowly went down to Cloak And Dagger who again cruised to victory on Hannans day. That looks good form for a race of this nature and by our calculations Mitch Pateman should break the record for the number of winners in a Kalgoorlie Season. All hail the Punters Pal aka King of Kal. MISS MERIT has been freshened up and her trainer knows how to produce them on the big days. She will storm late. ADMIRAL HUSSON joins the Craig Wright team for now and his maiden win shouldn’t be his only one. CITY STAR improves from the draw. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – NAZARETH WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4,5,6,9 1,4 1,2,3,4 4,5,8 Market Market
