Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on January 24, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 DANCE WEST has been far from disgraced in much tougher maiden races and this race looks to have her name on it on her debut for the Brett Matthews yard. Autier will look to be positive out of the gates from the inside draw and should get every chance. STRATUM PASS looks the logical danger off the back of some encouraging efforts. Will find her race sooner than later. SALVARA was pulled out of the race in the early stages by apprentice Tayla Stone when sent around as an even money favourite las start. SLURPIN’ TURPIN continues to run honest races but struggles to break through. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – DANCE WEST WIN Race 2 PLANET FEVER is another former Harrison trained galloper on debut for the Brett Matthews stable after contesting tougher races. The outside draw looks an issue but as a wise man once said Matthieu Autier has lengths on them in Esperance. DOLCITY has also raced in much tougher races throughout her short career and finds a winnable assignment at her first start for Melda Daniels. WE ACCEPT is a former eastern states galloper on debut for the astute Craig Wright yard and it wouldn’t shock to see the mighty red and black colours flash home like the Panthers in the 2017 grand final. WHISPERIT joins yet another yard and the stable can improve them. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – PLANET FEVER WIN Race 3 RHINO BUSTER has been ultra-impressive at trips much too short for his liking. The step up to the mile looks ideal and he looks right on track for a tilt at the Esperance Cup. CHHAYA looks the logical danger after a super run in the O’Loughlin Golden Bracelet at Albany. Maps to get a lovely run throughout. SATURDAY SKIES should find the front comfortably and the old boy can certainly bob up from time to time. THIDWICK THE MOOSE should be reaching peak fitness. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – RHINO BUSTER WIN Race 4 GRAND CADEAU couldn’t have been more impressive at his first start for Neil Dellar. Chances are boosted by the engagement of Matthieu Autier and if he happened to salute here wouldn’t be the worst hope in an Esperance Cup. MAKURU is bursting to win a race. She has had excuses all preparation and if things go her way she can give her loyal follower(s) a run for his/their money. RUSSIAN RIVER looked an astute purchase for the Brown stable but is yet to fire a shot. HE SAID SHE SAID can run a race given he finds the front. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – GRAND CADEAU WIN Race 5 NEMIROFF joins the MR Peter Fernie yard after a disappointing effort down the Pinjarra straight. This is a significant class drop and he will be in front for a long way. WATTO’S FURY only has to run up to his recent form to be hard to beat in a race of this nature. DAZZLING POET was an eye-catching winner on Boxing Day and there’s nothing to suggest he can’t go on with it. CIAO MISS TURPIN is hard to catch but gets it soft from the inside. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – NEMIROFF WIN Race 6 SOUTHERN WARRIOR has strung together three impressive runs in a row and is knocking on the door for another win. The drop back to class 2 company suits and shouldn’t do much work from the draw. ARMENIUS only won a maiden but did so in emphatic fashion. Lead and controlled on that occasion and if he is afforded that luxury again can make it 2 in a row. BROTHER PADDY has always shown ability and the step up to the 1400 meters suits. THUG LIFE can sit on speed and run a cheeky race. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – SOUTHERN WARRIOR WIN Race 7 BARRY’S RABBIT has become a social media sensation after the cult hero’s barnstorming finishing burst earnt him the tag of Esperance’s Grey Flash. Any more followers and he could be a late nom for the All Star Mile or possibly the more suitable Barker – Esperance Cups Double. RARE SELECTION was a strong winner first up and then bizarrely ridden off speed in a race where he looked the obvious leader. Randy Tan back aboard today is a huge positive. BLACKBEEL returns to the care of Brett Matthews and recent runs have been better than they read. PRINCE HAL is racing in very consistent fashion. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BARRY’S RABBIT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,4 5,7,8 1,2,4,5,10 1,2 Market Market
