Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 24, 2019January 29, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 FIRE AND RAIN gets his best opportunity yet this preparation to win another race. Brave down the straight against the older horses and before that sat on top of a frenetic tempo when given wind burn by Market Ruler. BRAGGADOCIOS is an extremely good looking horse who will catch eyes in the yard. He can sit just off the speed and come hard late. THE FINEST went well on debut and should only improve. SMART FOX either leads or hands up to Fire and Rain and shouldn’t be far away. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – FIRE AND RAIN WIN Race 2 TAJMALI had the blinkers added to trial gear on Monday and zipped around in 23.68. If she finds the front she could be hard to run down and if there is one camp who can produce them off 400 jump outs it is team Luciani. MISS WEST COAST looks a very progressive filly and will be mighty hard to beat. She should sit leader’s back and if she gets out she’s likely to run them down. RED CAN MAN looked mature at trials. POWERDERBELLE can improve with experience. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – TAJMALI WIN Race 3 THE BIG SHOW has been known from time to time to put in the occasional below par performance. Was getting over a foot abscess and then cast a shoe before the race. Can be forgiven for the effort and looks the one to beat. PRESS THE PETAL gets big weight relief and she is honest and consistent. HE’S A PARKER comes from a weak Class 3 race but he won with a leg in the air and looks a nice stayer in the making. AMERICAN JOY is unlikely to enjoy the same run as she has her past two but is a mare in form and can stay. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE BIG SHOW WIN Race 4 CAROCAPO was expected to be a big drifter first-up after 721 days away from the track and duly was $3.10 out to $6+. He was still there with 100m to go and with natural fitness improvement he looks very hard to catch second-up. FRIAR’S GIFT is a hard one to catch but drawn soft with a high speed and a riding change could be the one cutting them down late. DELANEY has come back to racing in great fashion with two big runs down the straight. PRINECESS ZELDA comes from strong form lines but will get a fair way off them again. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – CAROCAPO WIN Race 5 SHACKLETON was nearly a good thing beat first-up and third-up and ran into Ambiente in between. The form around him stacks up brilliantly and any horse can be forgiven for a ‘flop’ down the straight at Pinjarra. He maps beautifully (again) and gets another chance. MORE ACES has been beaten a long, long way first-up on the last few occasions. His best form would see him odds on and he is a long way down in class. DAM READY does nothing wrong and has carried 61kg to victory previously. BON VOYAGE an improver with the shades back on. Numbers: 10 – 2 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – SHACKLETON WIN Race 6 GET OVER IT has been a hard horse to catch and hasn’t won for a long time but his recent form is good enough and dropping back in trip looks to suit as well as the engagement of Glenn Smith. Worth another nibble eachway. BEAT THE DEVIL is flying through the grades and everything beaten behind him is holding up the form excellently. Hard to beat again. FORCEFUL was held up from start to finish last start. Getting to the outside he could launch late. MAD BRAD won a 78+ over a subsequent 78+ winner and drops back in grade. Big query is where he lobs in running? Numbers: 6 – 11 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – GET OVER IT EACHWAY Race 7 WRINKLY broke the track record in winning the Mandurah Cup and he did it in a relatively unfamiliar role for him when sitting just off the speed. Looks like Witten finds his customary role here and the faster the better for him, hard as nails. DELICATE MISS was enormous in the same race tramping three deep the trip without cover. Off the Mandurah Cup she looks the danger. DOUBLE DIGIT maps to get a perfect run for him. Soft just off the speed down in weight. MY GREEK BOY is building well into his preparation. Numbers: 1 – 11 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – WRINKLY WIN Race 8 KING OF CHAOS has shown a big versatility since joining Simon Miller and can settle forwards or midfield. Parnham has experience aboard him and option from the gate. Was big last start in a nice form race. HARRY THOMAS comes from that exact same race and if he can finally jump he should lob into a nice spot in the first half. TOUCH OF SILVER has a touch of brilliance about him when right. But it has been a while since we’ve seen his best. SPECIAL DELIVERY has been trialing the house down but where Pateman gets to from the gate is a mystery. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – KING OF CHAOS WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,10,11 1,4,5,6,8,9,11 1,11 1,2,3,5,6,9 Market Market
