Scott Embry’s Saturday Esperance Preview Posted on December 2, 2022December 2, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MR HOLLYWOOD ran third at Northam over 140m back in August, second in back to back mile maidens at a mile at Northam and then finished third at Ascot in a C1 behind Tuscan Holiday and Idle Star. Even last start was wide throughout behind Ocean Aura, Restful and Let’s Erupt. If he finds the top in this, he should be too strong. ISHINCA VIEW is having her 28th run in her career looking to win her first ever race. Shades go on, drawn ideally, solid fresh effort behind Rocking The Merc and Profit Pocket and a field of opponents who have also had plenty of opportunities. EXILE TED had his first start for Col Haddon over 1100 and worked home well behind Fast Flicker and Nitro Fred. Step to 1400 looks to suit. GIN FRENZY next. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – MR HOLLYWOOD WIN RACE 2 NITRO FRED and MISS SPARKLE both hail from the stables of Josh Brown. Tash Faithfull has been booked to ride Miss Sparkle after her impressive (yet highly wayward and green trial) and Jerry Noske rides Nitro Fred. Going to go with the theory that Tash Faithfull is booked on the better winning chance and go with MISS SPARKLE who clearly has a lot to learn but has a level of ability. NITRO FRED battled hard behind Fast Flicker and wins one soon. JERICHO’S ECHO was good in the same race as Nitro Fred into third. ARTIENNE joins Helen Harding and probably is looking for further. Numbers: 12 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – MISS SPARKLE WIN RACE 3 WESTERNIZE got a long way back after being slow to begin at the opening meeting at Esperance. Finished third in the 64+ behind Noble Reflection and Another Demon and now drops into a 58+. Got home nicely into third and is drawn a far better gate here. With the main danger drawing 62kg he gets his chance to win another. I AM SPARTACUS won with authority first-up with 60kg. If he reproduces from barrier 1 through traffic with 62kg then he’s hard to hold out. WHIM CREEK was fair last start in the Westernize race. LEADING MAN next. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – WESTERNIZE WIN RACE 4 NOBLE REFLECTION continued on the powerful year to year strike rate of Gary Burger and Lisa Staples. Carried 60kg, drew barrier 9 of 9 and was too strong late at 1100m for Another Demon and Westernize. Drops 1kg and effectively stays in the same grade from a better gate. Hard to knock. ANOTHER DEMON is suited in these races and will win another very soon. MAGNIFORCE is an enigma. On his day nearly impossible to run down. BALLADEER got to the line well on opening day. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – NOBLE REFLECTION WIN RACE 5 BOOZEROO went from a maiden at Kalgoorlie when getting the job done by the narrowest of margins and progressed to a C2 1100 at Esperance when leading and being run down late by the plunge horse Blazing Passion who had really nice metro/provincial form for a race like that. Happy to follow that as a form reference. HABIB won a BM58 from on speed back in April. Handy pick-up for the region. TALK SOFTLY should only improve into the campaign. TRANSLUCENT was good late and through the line on opening day. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – BOOZEROO WIN RACE 6 FAIR JUSTICE finished second to Prize Pursuit and Love Drunk Baby, third behind Love Drunk Baby and Jakestar and then at the first meeting in the Bay of Isles finished second to I Am Spartacus. If I Am Spartacus wins Race 3 (or even runs well with 62kg) the form will look great and she’s more than capable in this grade. CENSURE has a racing pattern which makes her hard to follow but she’s clearly going well. NICKLAUS goes super at Esperance, gains the services of a very talented returning apprentice. Don’t discount. WARZACHANTZ hails from the best strike rate yard in the region. Keep safe. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – FAIR JUSTICE WIN RACE 7 WINSALOT didn’t get any luck last start. Held up from straightening until shifted inwards at the 200 but by that stage the winner Just Striking was off and gone and Winsalot had no momentum up. Was a follow me type of run. COUNT GRUNDY was a tough watch at Kalgoorlie when well supported in betting and copped a shifting saddle. Should be able to win a few races in Kal/Esperance for his new connections. WHEATSTACK THEIF is super talented. Can do a few things wrong but at his best he’s more than up to it. JUST STRIKING returned well when scoring soft late. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – WINSALOT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,7 1,3,4,6 1,2,4,8 2,3,5,6 Market Market
