Scott Embry’s Saturday Carnarvon Preview Posted on September 14, 2023September 14, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BELLA EVE has had three starts in Carnarvon and has improved at each and every one of them. Finished a narrow second last start to Cape Pride, beating home Kendels Impact and from the draw she should be able to move into the race from the 600. Back to 1200m may even be a blessing in disguise. CITY MISTRESS looks to have the speed necessary to cross from barrier 7 of 7 and with Tash Faithfull aboard she’ll have plenty of admirers. MADAME PRO is still finding her feet on the dirt but is going alright. LE WREN can always give cheek. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – BELLA EVE WIN RACE 2 RAGING BEAUTY has been a bit of a tease to punters since winning impressively in a 1200m maiden back in June. Since then has finished in the money each time and been beaten around a length on each occasion. From barrier 1 ZJP can have her stalking the leaders and after his claim she drops 2kg staying in the same grade. GRECE LIGHTNING comes back 200m which might not be ideal but his first dirt outing was encouraging. OLD TOWN PREDATOR was $61 into $21 at Junction and someone almost pulled off a big move. Respect. KING KAURI will look to jump and run. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – RAGING BEAUTY WIN RACE 3 SPEEDING COMET couldn’t go with them early over 1000m last start and was never really in the race at any stage when beaten 3L by Kennedy. Meets him 1.5kg better at the weights and gets out to a more suitable 1200m. Hoping they can hold a spot this time because his runs earlier in the campaign were good enough to win this. KENNEDY bounced back to the winner’s circle for the first time in a long while. Race fit horse from Broome who can win again. WAR WARRIOR similarly has been racing all season at Port Hedland/Roebourne/Broome/Newman and clearly runs for Rosie Mahony. KLONDIKE KENNY has won back to back races with weight impressively. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – SPEEDING COMET WIN RACE 4 SAINTLY CITY has had two starts on dirt for two impressive all the way wins. Had to dig deep at Junction to break his maiden when he ran them along and kicked for home and then again worked hard from out deep with 59kg over 1000 at his first outing at Carnarvon but proved too classy for his opposition. Comes up in grade here but gets 1.5kg off his back and again will charge forward from a wide gate. Great opportunity to go three from three. THE WITCH DOCTOR looks the biggest danger on paper, but she just can’t quite seem to break that Carnarvon duck. She’s always in the finish but is now 0 from 19 at the track. NIGHTS MYSTERY hasn’t quite lived up to expectation this preparation. Thought he would go through the grades. LO LO LONHRO hasn’t had much go his way in the last month. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – SAINTLY CITY WIN RACE 5 STUMBLE got out to a half decent quote in betting before being annihilated in the last 15 minutes. The punters were proven to be correct and he romped clear for an effortless 1.5L victory in a race run 6L faster than average. That’s the form reference to follow and it doesn’t look like the extra 2kg will stop him. MULTINOVA MAN has been racing very consistently but continues to find one just a little better than him on the day. MAN FROM MEMPHIS won back to back races impressively at Carnarvon before heading to Junction. HYPERSPACE was good two back when winning. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – STUMBLE WIN RACE 6 MARXIAN is a former Carnarvon Cup winner who looks like he’s back in a similar vein of form to when he won in 2021. REGAL CITY was back to his brilliant front running best last start winning the lead up feature narrowly but in sizzling time (6L faster than average). POWERFUL has proven himself capable of staying with placings in the entire Broome Cups campaign including finishing second to Elafella in the Broome Cup. MYSTICAL MAN gets back in his races but continues to make ground and looks like he’s screaming out for this trip. OMBUDSMAN is a former Broome Cup winner who has a set of shades thrown on for Cup Day. Intriguing race with a number of different ways of looking at it. Numbers: 12 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MYSTICAL MAN WIN RACE 7 DASHING IMAGE finished second in the Broome Sprint on Cup Day behind Trisuem and then finished a narrow second to Klondike Kenny last start in this grade after tramping wide throughout. Should get every chance from the inside draw here. YANKEE LIMA comes back in trip after testing the waters in the Broome Cup and the Peter Evans Memorial. Drawn wide but comes right back in grade, is fit, is tough and can roll forward into a decent position. Keep safe. LOOKING GREAT brings real X-Factor if he can lead. SHAMARA was good at Junction. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – DASHING IMAGE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5,6 1,2 1,2,3,4,12 1,2,3 Market Market
