Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on September 14, 2023September 14, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 CAPTAIN BLIGH (3) has been impressive in winning his two WA starts and Gary Hall Jnr has chosen him over his two main rivals. ROLLING FIRE (9) brought up his fourth consecutive victory when running on from last to defeat Rocket City and must be respected despite the wide draw. IM THE BLACK FLASH (8) looked sharp when winning from the breeze here last week and can go on with it now that he has found form. TANTABIDDI (2) rises significantly in class on his last start win but he is drawn well and can play a part. Tips: 3 9 8 2 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN BLIGH (3) to win. Race 2 RASCAL (2) has been unplaced in his three runs back from a spell but draws inside his main rivals tonight and he should be a big improver. THE CODE BREAKER (5) drops in class on his recent efforts and will give a great sight if he is up to the mark after having five weeks away from the track. MUSZTANG (8) is drawn poorly but has shown he is versatile and can play a part. STATE OF HEAVEN (12) is extremely consistent and was a good last start winner but the back line draw makes it tough. Tips: 2 5 8 12 Suggested Bet: RASCAL (2) to win. Race 3 ALCOPONY (1) was an eye-catching 2nd in the Binshaw Classic at his last start and is the one to beat from the pole draw over the sprint distance. WATTS UP SUNSHINE (2) loves this trip and was a good last start winner who should be right in the finish. KIMBLE (6) has led throughout to win his last two starts but will need some luck in running from this draw. HILLVIEW BONDI (5) can work forward to the breeze and won’t be far away over this distance. Tips: 1 2 6 5 Suggested Bet: ALCOPONY (1) to win. Race 4 PRINCE OF PLEASURE (4) is a last start winner who may have designs on the lead but is also capable of racing well with a sit. Gary Hall Jnr had the choice of numerous drives in the race but has stuck with him. JUMPINGJACKMAC (7) has resumed with two nice 2nds in races run without tempo and will be suited by the likelihood of more pressure in this event. GALACTIC STAR (1) didn’t have any luck from this draw at his last start but is an obvious player here. DIEGO (6) is capable of finishing over the top of his rivals with the right run. Tips: 4 7 1 6 Suggested Bet: JUMPINGJACKMAC (7) each way. Race 5 WATER LOU (12) looked lacklustre from the start when a disappointing 7th at her last start. She was unbeaten in her seven career starts before that and will be hard to beat if anywhere near her best. LENORA JANE (11) has shown plenty of ability in her four starts and was an impressive Pinjarra trial winner recently. MISS HEPBURN (2) doesn’t have the class of her main rivals but has a significant barrier advantage and should give a great sight. XCEPTIONAL ARMA (10) has an awkward draw to overcome but can figure in the finish if she sees daylight at the right time. Tips: 12 11 2 10 Suggested Bet: LENORA JANE (11) each way. Race 6 WAVERIDER (1) was ultra-impressive in winning his first four starts but was crossed from this draw and never looked likely when 9th at his last start. He meets a similar field here and is clearly the one to beat if he can be forgiven for his latest effort. THE LITTLE MASTER (3) had no luck in the early stages of the Pearl Classic but looks a good chance from this draw. IDEAL MUSCLE (10) is a capable sit-sprinter who is drawn perfectly for his racing style. MENEMSHA (5) had things go his way when winning the Pearl but must be respected. Tips: 1 3 10 5 Suggested Bet: WAVERIDER (1) to win. Race 7 LUSAKA (1) has won eight of his eleven career starts and is clearly the one to beat after coming up with pole draw over the sprint strip. CHEER THE MAJOR (2) caught the eye when a fast-finishing 4th from a wide barrier here last week and should be prominent throughout tonight. OCTOBER REIGN (10) should enjoy the run of the race and can be dangerous if he sees daylight at the right time. LUCCA (9) probably has the best form in the event but the wide draw makes it tough. Tips: 1 2 10 9 Suggested Bet: LUSAKA (1) to win. Race 8 CORDERO (1) defeated a weaker field here two starts back and will give a great sight if he can hold up at the start. ROCKABALL (3) is racing consistently and always dangerous if he receives the right run in transit. MASTER PUBLISHER (6) has been placed in six of his past seven starts and has the strength to overcome the wide draw. CARRERA MACH (2) has won two of his last three starts in easier company and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 1 3 6 2 Suggested Bet: CORDERO (1) to win. Race 9 ACHARNE GIRL (5) was a narrow but impressive first-up winner and appeals as the one to beat again. PAROQUET (1) was unplaced in her last four starts before going for a spell but trialled nicely for her return and should give plenty of cheek from the pole. STORMYSKYES (3) was a great 3rd from the breeze behind two very good mares at her last start and should make her presence felt at good each way odds. BEYOND THE SEA (6) hasn’t had much luck at her last two starts and can figure. Tips: 5 1 3 6 Suggested Bet: ACHARNE GIRL (5) to win. Race 10 IRA POOLE (2) has good gate speed and crosses the Nullabor with good Victorian form. He looks the likely leader and should prove hard to beat. DUTY BOUND (1) couldn’t make up ground in a quick last half at his first run back from a spell but should be prominent throughout from the pole. SOHO DOW JONES (7) loves the distance and looks the other winning chance in the race. MADDY MADDY (3) rises considerably in class on his last start win but can sneak into a place from her nice draw. Tips: 2 1 7 3 Suggested Bet: IRA POOLE (2) to win. Market Market
