Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on September 16, 2022September 16, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SALOON BAR, CLASSIC ENCOUNTER and SAINTORIO will all have supporters for various reasons. SALOON BAR is all X-Factor. Huge motor, raw ability but still very green and new. SAINTORIO beat him home first-up and in the small field should find a nice position in running. CLASSIC ENCOUNTER looks like she’ll roll to the top and get things awfully cheaply. SALOON BAR has been all the rage amongst trial watchers for 6 months and in theory his racing manners should only improve each and every time he goes to the races. CLASSIC ENCOUNTER looks to have a motor and this race lacks a natural leader. Think she ends up there by default. SAINTORIO chased hard behind Baby Paris and was only getting warm late. CENTRAL FORCE next best. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SALOON BAR WIN RACE 2 CYWER is only a C1 F&M winner last start but she had to dig very deep to get the job done. Sat outside a hot speed (5L faster than average), with 59kg and her main danger on her back following her every move into the race. Half way down the straight she looked in trouble but to her credit she was able to fend off Brighid and score. Think Paul Harvey will be positive here and roll to the breeze and from there she’s hard to beat. VOGUE’S CHOICE looks the leader in a race that lacks tempo. While both Lucy Warwick and Hayden Ballantyne would enjoy taking a sit on the mare it looks on paper as though she will have to kick through and take it up. Backs up off 7 days and is going well. HENCHARD was a great run fresh but may end up in an awkward spot again. TINSNIP should be ready. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – CYWER WIN RACE 3 KARLI’S KARMA was about as good a trial as you will see. Resuming for a new stable she travelled boldly, responded to the urgings of new rider Brad Rawiller and got right away from them late. The second horse in the trial was plunged from $2.60 into $1.65 on Wednesday and given a confident push by Grant Williams as a progressive 3 year old. The speed battle between Ain’t No Other Man, Wiener Waltz and Agent Jay suits her and her Listed third behind Son Of A God & Bruce Almighty reads up well for a 0MWLY. REIGN OF FIRE is a two time winner off 7 days and better suited back to 1200m. AIN’T NO OTHER MAN is getting closer to winning another one. REAL DANGER should get a gun run. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – KARLI’S KARMA WIN RACE 4 STATE OF POWER simply gets the perfect map here. She is drawn barrier 1 and can box seat on the back of Olga Louisa who will take her well into the home straight. Olga Louisa rolls away from the inside in her races and ends up two or three horses off the fence which should present State of Power and Holly Watson with a beautiful inside run. Racing consistently well and has gone close twice off 7 days previously. PIXIE CHIX looks the danger on paper. Gets a 3kg weight swing on State Of Power from their recent encounter and will be finishing off powerfully late. GHOST WHO WALKS regains the services of Laqdar Ramoly who rides him brilliantly. OLGA LOUISA can always give a kick in these sprints. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – STATE OF POWER WIN Same Race Multi – State Of Power (Top 2) + Pixie Chix (Top 4) RACE 5 CATALPA gets a very similar situation to State Of Power in the previous. He is drawn barrier 1, he can box seat on the back of Cheerful Moment and he also runs around in the home straight which should ensure that Paul Harvey can hug the rails and get right up along his inside. Beaten on the post last start by a nice 3 year old in Rejuva King. Goes lengths better for Paul Harvey than anyone else and gets a gun run here. ALLEZ ALLEZ continues to race well, but also seems to find one or two better than him each and every time. TRI FOR US was an excellent return to racing behind Mood Swings and Multinational in a high rating 72+. Barrier is awkward for her. POSITION OF POWER is a noted 7 day back-up horse. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – CATALPA WIN RACE 6 ALSEPHINA got the wobbles in betting last start when the earlier races were being dominated on speed and on the fence and while she was beaten fair and square by Ginger Green, she gets a great opportunity to turn the tables and return to the winner’s enclosure. Drawn a far better gate, settles in a much more favourable position (has great tactical speed) and expecting her to go very close. PROBITY comes back from a 72+ and a 66+ into a Graduation and gets in with a winnable weight. REAL GRACE is the unknown element. Held up the entire length of the straight first-up and second-up. Query is her third run in three weeks. GINGER GREEN won well last start. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – ALSEPHINA WIN RACE 7 TRULY RELIABLE will need a three deep train to be building and in a capacity line-up of 16 with a number of speed horses engaged (Heaps Of Moolah, Devonia, Axel ‘R’ Eight, Deel Red and Koranis) he should get those conditions. Talented staying type who can go onto better races than this. ARAGAIN was brilliant last start. She was 70 days between runs and fought on bravely. Brad Parnham jumping on a key indicator. OVERTHOUGHT is racing extremely well and should get a softer run here from a more favourable alley. AXEL ‘R’ EIGHT gave a big kick last start but will need to work hard early here. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – TRULY RELIABLE EACHWAY RACE 8 COMES A TIME and STARTRADE renew hostilities over 1200m in the Nicopolis after a hitting the line together over 1000 in the Jolly Beggar. Paul Harvey jumps aboard Comes A Time and Michael Grantham swaps visors for blinkers (4 wins in shades). Can position up behind Great Again and Mood Swings and travels boldly in his races. Only gets half a kilo on Startrade but does get a head start in running. STARTRADE is well suited in these races and a beneficiary of the addition of Great Again. Only rises 1kg from his last start win and the extra trip is sure to suit. Right on track for a tilt at the Hannans Handicap. GREAT AGAIN is more than capable of running a race from the top in an 84+. LONG BEACH improves as the tracks dry out. Loved his run last start. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – COMES A TIME WIN RACE 9 MULTINATIONAL has been a regular in this preview over the last 3 months. Was hammered in betting last start ($4.20 into $2.40) but couldn’t reel in Mood Swings. Don’t think there’s any real option but for Brad Parnham to come out positive and either sit in the breeze or roll to the top in a race without much speed and pressure. Hard to fault the way he’s going and with the additions of Billy Ray, Let’s Galahvant and Speed Dream likely goes round eachway. EM TEE AYE was excellent in the same race when finishing off hard into third. Drawn to get a soft run and has clearly turned a corner. BILLY RAY went to a new level over winter and trialled super. Draw makes things interesting? LET’S GALAHVANT can find his favourite position in the box seat again. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – MULTINATIONAL EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,3,5,7 1,2,3,4,5 2,4 2,3,4,5,8 Market Market
