Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on September 16, 2022September 16, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 STAR IN TIME was only 2.7L off The Dominican and Arrow Song only four starts ago, only 1.5L off Tiger Move and Miss Rona two starts ago and then held up at crucial stages in a 54+ most recently behind His Eminence. Back in trip, back into a maiden and a senior rider on. Looks to have found her race. GOT LUCKY has been a frustrating maiden to follow over the season. Has enough ability but simply does too much wrong. Losing Laqdar Ramoly won’t help either. LUCIFER and LATHAMS WISH have been around the mark. Hope they run well on Sunday. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – STAR IN TIME WIN RACE 2 NO WHISPERING ran third behind Dawn Amnesty and Pick and Pay first-up over 1200m and then went to a 3 year old 0MWLY and ran a ripper behind Azena and Major Max, holding out odds on favourite Universal Flair into third. Looks hard to beat third-up. MR KOHANA trialled nicely for new trainer Rod Brown and then finished fourth behind Ruling Dame and Red Hot Goods in a maiden that’s expected to hold up as a form reference. PICK AND PAY has been up and down in distances in recent times. Going well. HIDDEN RUBY got no luck at her return to racing. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – NO WHISPERING WIN RACE 3 VANCOUVER LAD has had excuses at nearly every start since joining Helen Harding. The barrier means that punters will need to make a decision on whether they butter up again or concede that he’s a horse that will invariably find bad luck or bad patterns. Bursting to win one, just needs an ounce of luck. IT’S A LANCE beat him home last start and that form is on display on Saturday at Belmont through Skipping Digits. POPCORN TENDER is never far from the action. GALAHS DO ROAR can always bob up in this grade. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – VANCOUVER LAD WIN RACE 4 PEDAL POWER resumed with a 3kg claimer from barrier 10 of 14 and sat wide throughout when finishing a brave third behind Bin Shalaa and Dawn Amnesty. Loved the effort, draws the inside gate and now has the services of heavy weight hoop Brad Rawiller. Certainly an X-Factor horse. MILITARY BEAT was huge behind Balderdash and O’Lara’s Prince last start when flying home from a mile off. TOTAL LOCKDOWN gets the right run from the draw. FRANKIE BLUE EYES may need further but all of Josh Brown’s are humming (just ask him). Numbers: 1 – 11 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – PEDAL POWER WIN RACE 5 DOUBLE SPICE was well below his best in the Coolgardie Sprint but he also raced a long way off the speed from an awkward gate with 60kg. Drawn a better barrier here, can settle much closer in the run and he’s always a horse who could bounce back quickly. Keep safe. MEGAZONE was huge first-up. Normally takes a few runs to come to hand which is an indication that he’s returned to racing extremely well. SOLARIZE has gone to a new level since being ridden for speed. You would think that Kate Witten will ride him with aggression. TURBO POWER had a great Broome season and is proven on the Kal circuit. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE SPICE EACHWAY RACE 6 SHORT TALK beat Divine Pair and Real Danger in a C3 at Northam three starts ago, finished 2.5L off Westernize and Talk It Up two starts ago and most recently ran second behind Prize Pursuit, beating home handy mare Herron Sand. Goes around an eachway price and see no reason why she can’t be thereabouts again. TALK IT UP is always popular in betting and starting to put it all together. The barrier makes things harder. BIN SHALAA has won her last two and gone to a new level since arriving in Kal. TOWN HALL probably needs further than 1100 but the speed on helps. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 10 – 12 Suggested Bet – SHORT TALK EACHWAY RACE 7 GENERAL GRANT has to take the step to the next level coming out of a 66+ ratings win at Belmont Park but he gives every indication that he’ll measure up. When he won a 60+ Graduation at Ascot in May SJ Miller indicated that he was the type of horse who could become a nice Cups type and while he only ran down Axel ‘R’ Eight he did it with 59kg in a race where they marched throughout. Drops to the minimum and the wider gate helps Brad Parnham get him to the outside. STAFFORD’S LAD was a nice trial in the Coolgardie Cup. More of a staying test the better for him. SLUICE BOX is always dangerous with the right run. TELLEM WE’RE COMIN is clearly still improving run by run. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – GENERAL GRANT WIN Same Race Multi – General Grant (Top 2) + Stafford’s Lad (Top 4) RACE 8 THERE’S A CHANCE bails out of the Coolgardie/Boulder/Kalgoorlie Cups series and drops into a 58+. Big capable type who can carry weight, races on the speed and only three starts ago was a 70+ 1400 winner. Looks a wise move from the stable and think he’ll run a race at an eachway quote. MEET JOE BLACK looks to have reached a ratings point where he’s about on his mark. The inside gate a big plus for him. MY SQUEEZE LOUISE bounced back to her best last start and now gets out to a more suitable trip. LINCOLN’S LAW finished off nicely behind Feuding last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – THERE’S A CHANCE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,8,9,11,12 3,4,5,10,12,14 4,6,8 1,2,3,6 Market Market
