Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on July 23, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 OUR BOY DYLAN returns to the races and should take some beating. There are some handy types in this field but he showed last preparation that he would make a racehorse and his lead in trial for his return to the races was solid. Likely lands right over the top of the speed and is capable of leading or chasing. Should go well. CLAIRVOYANCE was able to kick through and lead on debut when scoring an impressive win. She clearly has a lot of raw and natural ability and looks like she has no idea what is going on. When the penny drops looks like making a very good filly. QUEEN BROWN has blinkers added to race gear and settled in an unwinnable position first-up. Did well to pass a few in the run to the post. MISCHIEVIOUS DIVA should improve second-up and out in trip. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – OUR BOY DYLAN WIN RACE 2 SIR MAMBO is certainly not known as a 1000m horse but this is wonderful placement by Martin Allan and excellent use of Madi Derrick’s 3kg claim. If he jumps cleanly then he should land second in running chasing the electric Classy Lassy and even if he gets posted out deep he loves room. Since his last win he has run placings to Showmanship and Son of a God before his last start effort when far from disgraced in sixth behind Long Beach, Nerodio, Indian Pacific, Double Bubble and Majinika. This is a big class drop and he should loom the winner. CLASSY LASSY is extremely quick. Clearly has a few soundness issues but she’ll be jumping and running. SHE’S VITAL is honest and consistent. Never far from the winner. DON’S LEGACY draws to box seat and has ability. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – SIR MAMBO WIN RACE 3 INDIAN PACIFIC was huge last start. Was backed from $2.90 into $1.80 and lost no admirers when taken on and crossed, forced to do all the bullock work chasing and then was left a sitting duck to be run down late. Long Beach was backed off the map last Saturday and won again making the form look super and his previous wins were over Windstorm and Levitate. Gets in with a postage stamp 55.5 against the older horses and back at 1000m looks the one. CRYPTIC LOVE has a wonderful point to point acceleration which is suited to the 1000m scamper. NIGHT VOYAGE is always a winning chance in this grade with normal luck. UNDISCLOSED is a well known fresh mare but the handicapper may have caught up with her now. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – INDIAN PACIFIC WIN RACE 4 BEDOUIN BELLE resumed first-up, no trial with 60.5kg and never gave up the chase. Was only a lowly C3 midweeker but she should only improve into the campaign and this race doesn’t look any deeper on paper. Gets the services of W.Pike and can race on and off-speed. DENIM PACK certainly doesn’t win out of turn but this is one of the more winnable races that he has seen in recent times. From the soft draw can run a race at odds. HE’S A GUNSLINGER has mixed his form and distances over the last few campaigns but should go well in this grade. KENNEDY can lead this race and that’s a huge plus for him. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – BEDOUIN BELLE WIN RACE 5 ROMAN FLIRT won four on the bounce before coming to town when dealt bitter barrier blows. Two starts ago sat three deep the trip no cover from gate 10 of 16, last start went back and had to tramp deep from the 800 drawn gate 12 of 13. Now enjoys some weight relief with the claim of stable apprentice Chris Graham and draws a gate. The most impressive thing about her provincial wins was her ability to sit over the speed and expecting her to enjoy the run of the race here. BRITISH BESSY is clearly racing a length or two below her best of last Summer but back into this grade should see the best of her. BOMBAY STLE is an unknown at the trip but has hit form and doing nothing wrong. MOSSERATTI can be hard to catch but compared to his recent outing this is a very suitable race. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROMAN FLIRT WIN RACE 6 LEVITATE vs BOOMTASTIC vs CAPTAIN KINK vs GIANT LEAP with MOOD SWINGS, SEMINOLE BRAVE and TIFF HAS SPOKEN as undercards. Super 3 year old race. LEVITATE was able to take a sit just off the speed against the older horses last start and gave them a galloping lesson. Comes back against his own age group and should be able to stalk Captain Kink and Boomtastic in the run. BOOMTASTIC backs up off 7 days from a gritty win at 1000m. She has been racing like she’s looking for further and should get across safely to sit outside Captain Kink. GIANT LEAP brings the alternate form lines. Clearly progressive and gets in on the minimum. CAPTAIN KINK will roll along out in front and gives a kick. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 8 – 3 Suggested Bet – LEVITATE WIN RACE 7 CUP NIGHT is the real deal and seems to come back bigger and better in every campaign. Last time in he won a Scenic Blast Stakes cutting down Valour Road fresh off his victory in the Miss Andretti. He then had his colours lowered by Free Trade in the Pinjarra Classic but still clocked the best sectionals of the meeting in defeat. He will concede Red Can Man 2.5kg and a 4-5 length head start which is why he goes round second favourite but expecting him to be charging down the middle. RED CAN MAN is one of the most talented 3 year olds in WA (and there’s a lot of them). He returns to the races and faces his toughest test to date but on his last campaign when undefeated in three runs he’ll measure up no worries. May look to take it up to ensure he isn’t pocketed behind tiring horses turning for home. SAMIZDAT wasn’t himself in the Beaufine. Always forgiving of a top class horse and 1200m is sure to be far more to his liking. ELECTRIC LIGHT loves W.Pike and maps soft. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – CUP NIGHT WIN RACE 8 INSPIRATIONAL GIRL arguably should be six from six undefeated after only suffering defeat at the hands of a leader bias Ascot track after an interrupted start to her previous campaign. Her first-up win was super and her biggest asset is the fact that she can hold a position in running from the gate. Looks like a mare who can continue on through the grades. MASSIMO finally broke his frustrating run of outs last weekend when sitting over the top of a moderate tempo. Not an easy ride and 3kg claimer Madi Derrick may well elect to roll to the top to avoid him pulling. SERENITY BAY won well first-up and then was her own worst enemy last time out. MILITARY RULER has come back super. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 13 – 2 Suggested Bet – INSPIRATIONAL GIRL WIN RACE 9 DOUBLE THE PRO has improved lengths since coming to town. He was a fairly frustrating horse to follow in Kalgoorlie when continually running eye catchers but since arriving in the metro area has seemingly relished the additional length of the straight to balance and wind-up. His most recent effort was excellent and the form behind Levitate is as strong as it gets in this grade. ABERDEEN QUEEN comes back to 7 furlongs and is a talented and versatile filly. Whether she races on speed or off speed she’ll put herself into the finish. POSITION OF POWER should be able to hold a spot just behind the speed but always wary of horses who excel for strong whip riders like Paul Harvey when they lose his services. PUT A SPELL ON YOU box seats with no weight and her three runs in have all been great. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 11 Suggested Bet – DOUBLE THE PRO EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,8 3,5,7 1,8,13 1,2,3,11 Market Market
