Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on August 22, 2019August 26, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 WAR ANTHEM has been placed at 6 of his 7 career outings. He lead them up last start and was run down late after being well supported in the market. From the gate he should land one out and one back and be afforded every opportunity to break through. MIDNIGHT HOUR ran well on debut in a race which has held up as a form reference, producing a number of subsequent winners. WINNIE’S WINE hit the line hard first-up and now draws a gate and Pike jumps aboard. INDIAN CHANT has raced below his best this preparation. Form from last campaign far stronger. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – WAR ANTHEM WIN Race 2 ZEPHYR QUEEN is consistent as they come and is racing in career best form. Three starts ago looked gone when picking herself up to win, two starts ago kicked clear only to be run down by progressive galloper The Fugazi and last start again looked beaten before corner before coming again to run fourth. Sits off Nemiroff and will be the first to collar the leader. PLAYING MARIKA drops sharply in grade and distance on the freshen up. She could be forgotten by the market. SIR MAMBO was nosed out last start by Three Secrets. That form looks fairly good now. Has been in good form all preparation. LOOKOUT was a booming winner two starts ago ridden cold with Chris Parnham on. Same scenario here. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – ZEPHYR QUEEN EACHWAY Race 3 AMARILLO ROSE was run down comfortably first-up but after the claim drops 2kg on that effort and draws to lead on her ear. She can give cheek out in front. MASSIMO was backed hard on debut and the money was spot on. Looks like he will only get better and better with racing and provided he can get an ounce of luck from a sticky alley he’ll go close. SPECIALISM is returning to the track after a big two year old campaign. At her best she can punch the breeze and hold them off. RUBIC ROSE ran around badly first-up. Run was full of merit. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – AMARILLO ROSE EACHWAY Race 4 NIGHT VOYAGE put in an uncharacteristic shocker last start, albeit in a 70+. The form from that race has held up with Don’t Fuss and Saracino both running big races in Listed grade subsequently. Drops to a 60+ graduation, loves the 1000m, loves it fresh, loves a bit of sting out of the ground and carries weight. He’ll bounce back and run a race. GLASGOW GIRL is the obvious danger. Bombed the start at her most recent when backed off the map. If she jumps she’ll land a lovely position behind the speed and takes holding out. DAWN MISSION lobs out the back in her races but has a powerful finish. CITICHANT is best allowed to run and Kristy Bennett gets a wonderful opportunity to ride her maiden Saturday winner. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – NIGHT VOYAGE EACHWAY Race 5 LITTLE FISH was brave first-up no trial with 60kg. Sat outside the lead and was attached a long way from home, fought them all off in the straight to win impressively. After the claim carries the same weight in the same grade and no reason why he can’t produce the same result and keep his unblemished second-up record intact. SHINJU has improved ~2 lengths at every start so far this preparation. He can spring the gates and take up a position midfield with cover and he looks hard to beat. WANNA BE GOOD is a sit, sprint type who will have last crack at them. TRAKIATO was caught deep last start and fought on well. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – LITTLE FISH WIN Race 6 UNI TIME was backed from $4 into even money last week when sitting deep, running his race in patches and ultimately being beaten a half length. The run was good, and he is still learning with every outing. Off the 7 days, drawn to sit midfield, he will be very hard to hold out. EXPRESS FLIRT comes from the same race and has put in two eye catchers this preparation. KIA ORA STAR was hard to miss first-up when flying late from an impossible position. Stable is white hot and he can settle much closer in the run. BEAUTY KANAS has been ridden cold at her WA runs, interesting to see where she lands in running. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – UNI TIME WIN Race 7 MR ALBY, NOIR DE RUE, PADDY’S SHADOW and SPIRITUAL WARRIOR have been running into each other all preparation with varied results and this race should jump $5.50 the field. They all map to get the right runs for them to win and there is very little between them. NOIR DE RUE lacks a killer blow but is as honest as they come. MR ALBY was flat last start and the market knew. He can bounce back. PADDY’S SHADOW concedes them weight but enjoys a soft run three back the fence. SPIRITUAL WARRIOR was huge last start on speed and has no weight on his back. GUNNAGO caught the eye in the same race. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – NOIR DE RUE EACHWAY Race 8 FREE TRADE was ridden cold last weekend and he travelled into the race from the 800 like a $1.10 pop. That was his first attempt at 1400 and he steps to a mile here but backing up off 7 days, drawing a plumb gate, he is more than capable of taking the next step. SNOWCHINO is another going straight through the grades. She sat on top of a hot speed last start in a race run almost 6 lengths above benchmark. Off that rating she takes serious beating. DOUBLE DIGIT is never far from the action but will need some luck at some stage. TAXAGANO simply cannot draw a gate but is racing extremely well. Numbers: 9 – 13 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – FREE TRADE EACHWAY Race 9 BEAUCOUNT was responsible for the extreme speed injected into the race from the 1200m marker last start. If he can jump cleanly with them then Jason Brown can again slide him across the front of the field and he’s always capable of winning this grade. BOLD SUCCESS was enormous last start and put the writing on the wall. Fifth start for Jim Taylor he looks ready. REVEILLE is flying sectionally. Some of her furlong splits in her two runs this campaign have been brilliant. She just continues to settle too far off them. MISTY LAD either leads or takes a sit on Beaucount. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – BEAUCOUNT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3 2,7,9,10,13 9,13 1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10 Market Market
