Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 26, 2020November 30, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MISCHIEVIOUS DIVA will certainly be a little short of her ideal trip at 1000m but her trail was sensational and she has always looked like a filly who would make her mark on the 3 year old ranks. This race has an abundance of speed so she will need to jump evenly to avoid being shuffled too far back but if she can stay within 3-4L of the leaders then she looks like she’s capable of giving this a shake at a price. SASSY TRADER did everything wrong last start and did a super job to get as close to the winner as he did in the end. Gets 3kg weight relief with Laqdar Ramoly going on which is an added bonus. TOSCANA is undefeated in the Great Southern and definitely deserves a crack in town. MADAM TORIO is jump and run but there is no shortage of speed in this. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – MISCHIEVIOUS DIVA EACHWAY RACE 2 TRUE ATTRACTION looks primed and ready to win fourth start back in the campaign. Adam Durrant has a wonderful habit of getting horses to improve fourth and fifth up in a campaign as he really starts to tighten the screws and with Pike jumping aboard from a soft gate this does look his race for the taking. Super two starts ago from last off the back of a pedestrian tempo and then far from disgraced in the RJ Peters last start. THE FUGAZI was in the same race, beat him home and gets 4kg on him. Naturally he is going to be awfully hard to beat. BAD WOLF had nothing go right last week. Backs up off 7 days, drops in grade, draws a gate and gets the services of Brad Rawiller. KELVIN was too bad to be true last start for an otherwise super consistent type. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – TRUE ATTRACTION WIN RACE 3 ISLAND MISSILE finally broke through last start after almost 1000 days away from the winner’s enclosure. Team Gangemi have him now firing on all cylinders and from the draw he can use that versatility he possesses to take up a position in running and unleash his powerful turn of speed. See no reason why he can’t win back to back races. BEFFUNJAR was a shade disappointing last start when perfectly placed back into C3 company. She is improving at every run and is ready to win. CAPTAIN BURGLAR drops out of a far deeper race and a hot form reference race. PEPPIJACK hasn’t put a foot wrong in the last 2 months. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 12 – 9 Suggested Bet – ISLAND MISSILE WIN RACE 4 MORGS FREEMAN looks a big chance of winning the Westspeed Platinum Final at double figures. Finally draws a gate after being forced to race in unsuitable positions so far this preparation. Comes out of the Wild Fusion/Glamour Packed/Lacevinsky race where they dominated from on speed and he was one of the few horses back in the field to make any noticeable ground. He can settle at least a pair closer in the run and that brings him right into the mix. GLAMOUR PACKED can box seat from the draw and is knocking on the door. Loomed the winner last start but couldn’t quite reel in Wild Fusion. I’M PRETTY reunites with William Pike and seems to go lengths better for him than anyone else. WILD FUSION was super first-up at 1400 and with the right run can win. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – MORGS FREEMAN EACHWAY RACE 5 COMES A TIME looks to have found another extremely winnable race. First-up was plunged ($8 into $2.6) before being highly competitive in two 66+ races. Last start dropped back to 1000m which looked a little sharp and was forced to do all the chasing behind the speedy Ziebell in a race where they went 5L faster than average. Gets back to 1200m, draws a gate to sit in the first four in running and will be afforded every mortal chance. With popular market horses like Resortman and Platinum Bullet engaged we might just sneak eachway. SWEET DREAMIN’ is a William Pike horse. On the quick back-up, drawn a gate, back in trip and the Wizard on. Huge danger. SPEEDY MISS trialled up particularly well and is suited to sitting three back the fence. RESORTMAN is immensely talented but where does he get from the draw? Numbers: 11 – 5 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – COMES A TIME EACHWAY RACE 6 CAROCAPO backs up off 7 days from his 72+ win last weekend and has been scratched from the Winterbottom Stakes to be reserved for this more suitable assignment. Drops 1kg going up in grade and from the inside gate he either leads or box seats on the back of Ziebell. He should again prove hard to beat. DIG DEEP bounced back last start. Great to see him run a race after spending almost 18 months in the wilderness. Should be winning one soon. MULTIVERSE gets back into a ratings race and looks an excellent use of the 3kg claimer. RIVER DANCE is going well and, on the back-up, must be respected. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – CAROCAPO WIN RACE 7 THE BEACH will likely open somewhere in the 20-1 range. These provincial finals often throw up results and there certainly doesn’t look to be any standouts in this year’s edition. From gate 1 Jade McNaught should safely send her straight to the front and while she’ll likely paddle late in the race she does have the sustained speed to make things interesting and give backers a real sight. Not a lot between the Kalgoorlie representatives and she draws the best. ABSOLUTE draws a handy alley, gains the services of William Pike and has been showing glimpses of form for a while. PURE MAGNUS is drawn a horror alley but MR Peter Fernie has him flying. LONG KNIFE BROTHER has come back to racing particularly well and Des Attwell is a genius at getting his horses up on grand final day. Numbers: 15 – 9 – 3 – 14 Suggested Bet – THE BEACH EACHWAY RACE 8 ROYAL COMMAND is yet another runner on the program who stands out on paper for the fact that the Wizard is returning to the saddle. He can give these horses 2-3L when they draw a gate and he will put Royal Command to sleep midfield and save him up for one last burst at them late. Always looked like he would stay and now we get to find out. PADDY’S SHADOW brings alternate form lines to most of her rivals but gets much needed weight relief and can track up from the 600. DOUBLE DIGIT reunites with Chris Parnham and has been racing well for a while. UTGARD LOKI returned to some of his best form last start. Numbers: 10 – 9 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet – ROYAL COMMAND WIN RACE 9 TREKKING is the obvious selection in the 2020 Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes. He is Group 1 quality and his three runs back this preparation have produced a second placing over 1000m in the Moir Stakes to Pippie, a fourth in the Everest behind Classique Legend, Bivouac and Gytrash before running second to Hey Doc in the Manikato. The fact he drew gate 11 makes him beatable but if he is tracking up three deep with cover they’ll all need to produce big PB’s to hold him out. VITAL SILVER is forgotten in the market place. He was brave in the Northerly Stakes and has no doubt been kept fresh by design. Capable of running a big race at a price. INDIAN PACIFIC will be considered by most the best local hope. Draws perfectly but probably has to tow the field up to Condor Heroes again. RED CAN MAN backs up from the Railway. Real X-Factor acceptor and is tough as nails. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 12 – 7 Suggested Bet – TREKKING WIN RACE 10 MONEY MAHER has been a story of patience for Team Pearce. Lightly raced 6-year-old who had injury enforced layoffs of 357 days and 525 days respectively with career threatening soft tissue battles. Looks to have come back well after tramping three deep the trip in the Asian Beau and then last week made solid ground when again deep the trip in the Carbine Club Stakes. Draws a gate, gets out to a mile and backs up off 7. Ticks a lot of boxes and will open eachway. TOLLMAN is incredibly hard to fault. He won well last start in a race which has held up as a form reference. HARRY THOMAS was brave when being attacked by Too Close The Sun at the 800 in the Ascot Gold Cup. FRIARESQUE was a forgive run last start and super in the Northam Cup before that. Numbers: 2 – 14 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – MONEY MAHER EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1,3,4,9,13,14,151,2,4,9,10,1211,2,4,13,14 Market Market
