Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on February 20, 2020February 24, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview RACE 1 BRUCE ALMIGHTY gets his best chance to date at start number 9. He ran well last start behind Magic Empire in the same race as Atilla’s Dream and Perfect Harmony, who look the logical dangers. From the gate Parnham should have him one out and one back and he gets every hope. PERFECT HARMONY worked to the top last start after drawing wide. Should hold the fence drawn the inside. ATILLA’S DREAM should be able to slide across and breeze. He has put together four good runs in his short career. SON OF THE SUN next best. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – BRUCE ALMIGHTY WIN RACE 2 OUR DANNI was super on debut and with the freshen up she looks to have found a suitable race. Will need some luck from out wide but has the necessary gate speed to come across. Interesting to see how she has come back. WATCH ME DANCE was awesome at Bunbury when doing what two year old horses simply don’t do (winning from last). Strong run in the Pinjarra Magic Millions and must be respected. DOM TO SHOOT was scratched from last week to save for this. Form has held up from his win. ZAC LUVS TO FLY will go round at a big price. Nothing wrong with the trial. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – OUR DANNI WIN RACE 3 SAKARYA should bounce straight to the top here. Sat in the breeze last start and was able to get past reasonably talented front runner Gates of Babylon before being gunned down by Playing Marika. That was a stronger race than this and she should find the front with main rivals mapping last and second last. KELLY’S GEM and STREET FAIR finished alongside each other last start but one was suited by the track conditions (Street Fair) when three deep with cover on a rail 14m meeting and the other was completely unsuited. KELLY’S GEM the obvious danger. STREET FAIR going well. IONYX an improver off the quick back-up. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – SAKARYA WIN RACE 4 NAVY BLUE was scratched last week to be saved for this assignment. Jade McNaught rides him well and he can slide across and sit second in running, behind rolling front runner Saxon Saxoff. All his wins have been in genuine staying tests and this looks like one. BURNING PRIDE and MORNING SONG are both flying but both lose W.Pike from their last start wins. CRYSTAL VALLEY put in her best run of the campaign and is getting close. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – NAVY BLUE EACHWAY RACE 5 THIS’LL TESTYA returns to the races for the first time since having her colours lowered by Carocapo in late December. She looked all at sea when she was unable to lead and drawn inside Catherine Wheel should ensure she jumps, rails, leads and wins. CATHERINE WHEEL is no slouch and was strong first-up. Absorbing pressure from Silver Cloud Three is a different ball game to sitting outside This’ll Testya. HOBOKEN is a winner off 7 days and maps well again. SHINJU ran well first-up but strikes a tough 66+. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – THIS’LL TESTYA WIN RACE 6 INSPIRATIONAL GIRL is three wins from four starts and arguably should have been undefeated when going down by the narrowest of margins first-up when making incredible ground off the back of some seriously slow lead times. From the gate she can settle midfield and if Peter Hall gets her out she should get over them. SKINNEN TINS draws a gate and is racing well. PADDY’S SHADOW was a sharp improver second-up and is building toward a win. SCORELINE has remarkably won all 8 career races at a mile and was not disgraced behind Burning Pride in the Narrogin Cup. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – INSPIRATIONAL GIRL WIN RACE 7 STAR EXHIBIT won the 2019 Detonator Stakes 49 days between runs with 59.5kg coming out of the Perth Cup. This year’s edition is 49 days since the Perth Cup and he is again thrown in with only 59.5kg. He is 17 points clear of any other horse in the race and is a weights and measures punter’s dream. WRINKLY is an obvious query at 1800m but finds the front and we’ll see how he goes at the trip. HARRY THOMAS is likely to be forgotten by punters but should enjoy a great trip behind Wrinkly. ARCTIC STREAM may have been in need of the run first-up. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – STAR EXHIBIT WIN RACE 8 CELEBRITY QUEEN will likely need to win from last which makes the race that much more interesting. She won with a leg in the air first-up when never fully tested. She got back on that occasion, found traffic and still cruised past in second gear. Exciting filly on the rise. TOMMY BLUE is still a maiden but both runs this preparation have been enormous. No reason he can’t break his duck in a Saturday race. MISS CONTEKI was under a strangle hold by Pike on debut when running the first 600 almost 8L slower than maiden average. Chris Parnham is likely to give her a fair bit more rein in the run here. REWRITE THE STARS is stiff to still only be a C1 filly after running into Windstorm and striking bad luck first-up. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 10 – 11 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY QUEEN WIN RACE 9 MR GENOA is extremely well placed by Luke Fernie. Jumped a well-supported favourite in a 72+ at Pinjarra first-up, no trial and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Jade McNaught has her work cut out from the gate and Mr Genoa looks destined to march three deep the trip with 60.5kg but he is a big strong animal who carries weight and needs room. LIPSTICK FLICKERS looks the obvious danger on paper. If Paul Harvey can get her out in front of Nanga Parbat in the first few strides she should land outside the leader. Won from that position first-up and should only improve for the outing. NOBELIUM draws his best gate of the last few months. He’ll again go round at a big price for a horse who is in career best form. SHE’S ALIGHT is starting to really demand respect. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – MR GENOA WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 5 1 2,7,10 2,5 Market Market
