Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 30, 2020February 3, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 CITY CENTRE punched three deep the trip last start behind War Anthem in a race which contained opponents Princely Package, Diamond Trade, Phandieri and Peggie’s Joy. That race was just over 4L faster than average and looks the form reference race. City Centre can lead here and opens double figures. PRINCELY PACKAGE ran extremely well in the same race last start and looks the logical danger on paper. PEGGIE’S JOY didn’t get much luck in the same race when held up. DIAMOND TRADE jumped near favourite in that race and 100m after the start was impossible. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – CITY CENTRE EACHWAY Race 2 ALMATALK has been out since the first preparation when nothing at all went right on debut and then running a solid third to Too Spicy at her second race start. Had a 400m jump out for return to the races and could nearly lead them up from the draw. Should be there abouts. GUARDED was a powerful trial winner. The draw makes it very tough but showed a serious motor. MOMBASA actually hit the line as well as anything under his own steam on debut. SURVEILLANCE trialed alongside Warm ‘n’ Fuzzy who ran a race on debut at Bunbury. Numbers: 11 – 6 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – ALMATALK EACHWAY Race 3 HARRY THOMAS has the runs on the board and in a race where the majority of the field are outside the handicap he is very well suited with 59.5 on his back. Should park just behind likely leader in Butterlea Lad and his last start effort when dropping back to 1400 in the middle of a long preparation was excellent behind Dance Music. Yet to run a bad race in 3 months and this field is not strong. THE BIG SHOW might still be another run away but is getting closer. MYCROFT was supported last start in a race where he could never get going. BUTTERLEA LAD gets it cheap in front. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – HARRY THOMAS WIN Race 4 HOLY GHOST is a month between runs and rises to 59kg but it is hard not to be impressed with his last two performances. Chased hard behind talented stablemate Indian Pacific and then sat off them and zapped a reasonable field with ease last start. Can box seat from the gate and looks hard to beat. SNIPPY MISS drops back from the 1500 to 1100, has blinkers added and Jade McNaught takes 1.5kg off. Gets 2.5kg on Holy Ghost and can turn the tables. GUESTEEN is flying but backs up for the second consecutive week. WEAPONSON likely finds the breeze and does it a bit tougher than last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – HOLY GHOST WIN Race 5 VALOUR ROAD vs CUP NIGHT is the clash that has been waiting for the last 4 weeks since Cup Night returned to trials in impressive fashion. VALOUR ROAD has the runs on the board and from the draw should stalk a hot speed and settles infront of Cup Night to offset the weight differential. Big win in the Miss Andretti and looks destined to make it two straight features. CUP NIGHT likely settles last and has the entire field to run past. He is exciting and fast becoming one of the most popular horses in WA. BELTER has returned in great order and runs his stock standard tough race. DON’T FUSS again has a sticky draw. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – VALOUR ROAD WIN Race 6 COMING AROUND is getting better and better as he settles into the Grant & Alana Williams camp and this profiles a near identical race to last start. He will drift back from the wide gate and work into the race from the 600. Hard to see them holding him out and should make it three on the trot. SPEEDING COMET tests the waters at 1400 but should get every chance from the gun draw. MY GREEK BOY can take advantage of a soft lead. STAR GLITTER is going well. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – COMING AROUND WIN Race 7 PATRISTIC will be in front. INSPIRATIONAL GIRL could be last. Makes things very interesting. On a day which is expected to favour those on speed PATRISTIC gets a wonderful chance of making it four wins in a line. Kristy Bennett leaves no stone unturned when finding the front and will make them chase a long way out. INSPIRATIONAL GIRL could not have been more impressive last start. She’s obviously hard to hold out. GO CRYING was stiff not to finish a little closer first-up. DICKOLETTO is racing well. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – PATRISTIC WIN Race 8 LIPSTICK FLICKERS has form around Flower of War, Essential Spice and Festival Miss from when last in work and resumes off the back of a soft trial win. From the draw she should land in a sweet spot and 99% of main rivals draw horror gates to do it tough. Looks like being a great price to see if she can graduate to a new level. MASCHINO MISS draws a nice gate and is likely to take the sit with a senior rider going on. HOBOKEN drops into a far more suitable race than recent assignments. FAIRVIEW and PLUTOCRACY are flying but would need a speed map miracle. Numbers: 12 – 5 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – LIPSTICK FLICKERS WIN Race 9 ROSEBUSH is a W.Pike horse if you’ve ever seen one in the last. She is a little mare who needs to be smothered up and saved for one short, sharp sprint. Back to the 1000m looks suitable and if she can get clear running from just behind them can pounce late. CATHERINE WHEEL has strong 3 year old form and should find the front with only 52.5kg on her back. SHINJU likely follows her across to the breeze and trialed well. TO RISE AGAIN was alright last start and again draws well. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROSEBUSH EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 3 1,7 2,5,12 4,7,8 Market Market
