Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on December 12, 2019December 16, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 LEVITATE was eye catching in defeat last time out. Lead all the way to score a soft victory in a Bunbury maiden and then was ridden off speed in a 1000m dash when charging late. Drawn a bit sticky but has the firepower to overcome. SILKINIZE looks a better horse stalking a hot speed. Best run this prep was chasing Massimo and Ziebell when ridden with a sit. DOWNFORCE was left flat footed last start, previous wins strong. BOOMTASTIC likely takes the trail on Mia Dolce. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – LEVITATE WIN Race 2 HARRY THOMAS is racing in career best form when left alone out in front. He should again cross those drawn to his inside and find the fence. Jarrad Noske is riding him particularly well and if can pinch a cheap section he’ll be hard to run down. ROYAL COMMAND will no doubt appreciate Pike back into the saddle. Nothing went right for him last start. JEDAFFAIR is super consistent but might need to breeze here if caught deep. SON OF BACCHUS looks suited sitting leaders back behind Harry Thomas. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – HARRY THOMAS WIN Race 3 PLUTOCRACY went straight into hundreds of black books when held up the entire length of the home straight bolting behind Guns of Navarone (same as Rebel Knight, same as Excise Free). Now draws a gate, gets Pike in the saddle and looks hard to beat. UNDISCLOSED is low flying this preparation. Could end up back last from the draw but her turn of foot has been sensational. ESSENTIAL SPICE went through the grades rapidly at Belmont over winter showing acceleration. Interesting to see if she can bring it to Ascot. SPEEDING COMET gets the run of the race. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – PLUTOCRACY WIN Race 4 NOT TO BE MIST had to really fight last start for the victory when Pike took off 3 deep at the 800. The way he was able to sustain the run was excellent and he kept fighting up the straight. Stepping to a mile looks ideal and while this is his toughest test to date he looks like stepping up to the occasion. SUPERIOR SMILE is extremely well placed and weighted after the claim for Chris Graham. Both runs in this campaign have been big. REBEL KNIGHT can ping late off a soft run. BARAKI BEATS is not impossible. Ran out of his skin in the Carbine. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – NOT TO BE MIST WIN Race 5 INFLATION should come across with Sophie’s Song and if they can clear Awesome As and Sharpbob drawn to their inside then he should land a lovely spot in running just off the speed. Second crack at a mile and big weight relief off Sophie’s Song for their clash behind Sublime Image. SOPHIE’S SONG is racing consistently and looks like winning one soon. BIG SHOT PADDY deserves a crack in town and has landed a suitable race. Showing promise in Geraldton. FRIAR’S FANTASIA continues to finish powerfully just behind the winner. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – INFLATION WIN Race 6 INSPIRATIONAL GIRL is undefeated 2 from 2 and returns to the races first-up at 1400. Her trials have both been pass marks when not knocked around in fast 950s. Looked to have a set of Winkers at her most recent which aren’t worn on race day but she should sit midfield in a moderate race and give a big sight. DICKOLETTO might be forced to march forward if caught deep to breeze. GEIGER GEM looks just about ready and Paul Harvey is in serious form. GILLESPIE is racing without luck. Was held up the entire last start. Numbers: 12 – 2 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – INSPIRATIONAL GIRL WIN Race 7 TAXAGANO is in career best form at the minute. Luckless in the Northam Cup, huge win 3 deep the trip no cover in the Ascot Gold Cup and then simply got caught in an awkward spot last start when Missile Launch was travelling better than him at the 500 and he got pocketed. Picked up to run the fastest final 200 split and looks primed to win this staying feature. MISSILE LAUNCH is going from strength to strength and was the beneficiary of a peach from Carbery last start. FORCEFUL continues to loom and not flatten out. Still a big query at the trip. SPIRUTAL WARRIOR gets his chance to lead without pressure. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – TAXAGANO WIN Race 8 SETTLERS CREEK dropped in grade third up last preparation and won at a price. This campaign he has put in two solid midfield runs behind Carocapo and now backs up off 7 days, drops in grade and Chloe Azzopardi takes 2kg off. He is extremely well placed to return to the winner’s circle. FLOWER OF WAR is a chance of being planted three deep the trip no cover. If she can get across she’s the one to beat. If not, she’s left a sitting duck. GUNS OF NAVARONE and SUPREME FORCE both drawn a bit sticky but both racing extremely well. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 4 – 10 Suggested Bet – SETTLERS CREEK EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,5,6,7 2,4,5,11,12 1,2,3,4 2,4,8,10 Market Market
