Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on December 12, 2019December 12, 2019 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Preview Race 1 SALEAHS COMMAND (2) led throughout in 1.53.9 two starts back before being beaten as a $1.22 favourite here last week. He had to run a quick first quarter on that occasion and can bounce back if he gets away with a bit early. CAPTAIN MANNERING (10) will enjoy a soft run on the pegs and will be charging late if he sees daylight. COMMANDER CHAPEL (4) faced the breeze when a solid 5th here in fast time last week and can play a part. MCARDLES GEM (1) was suited by a slow last quarter at his last start and can be placed from this draw. Tips: 2 10 4 1 Suggested Bet: SALEAHS COMMAND (2) to win. Race 2 SOHO WONDER (1) was a strong 2nd to Cyclone Banner after breezing three starts back and will give a great sight if he can hold up and reproduce that effort. SON OF A TIGER (8) drops back in class for this assignment and can overcome the wide draw. BOB WHEEL (12) wasn’t suited at the sprint trip last week and is likely to be put into the race tonight. BLACK JACK ZAC (10) is drawn to get a nice run on the pegs and can be dangerous late. Tips: 1 8 12 10 Suggested Bet: SOHO WONDER (1) to win. Race 3 KINGSLAYER (6) is yet to start in a mobile event in WA but has impressed in winning four of his six starts from the stand. He looks to have plenty of ability and is capable of overcoming his wide draw. VALBONNE (4) has been finishing midfield against the state’s best 4YO’s and will appreciate a drop in class tonight. WHOSWHOINTHEZOO (1) has been placed at eight of his past nine starts and should be in the finish again from this draw. ROBB STARK (10) is drawn to get a soft run and won’t be far away. Tips: 6 4 1 10 Suggested Bet: KINGSLAYER (6) to win. Race 4 ROCKNROLL LINCOLN (6) resumes from a spell without a trial but is the reigning WA Pacing Cup winner and will give a great sight if anywhere near his top. HANDSANDWHEELS (8) has resumed with two impressive wins against similar fields but is drawn wide here. SPEED MAN (2) is racing consistently and will prove hard to catch if he can find the top. VULTAN TIN (9) is flying but once again draws the river and will need some luck in running. Tips: 6 8 2 9 Suggested Bet: SPEED MAN (2) each way. Race 5 SHOCKWAVE (12) was the run of the race before losing the 4YO Classic on protest and looks to be the in-form horse of the field. He is drawn poorly but is suited by the longer trip and should be right in the finish. GRAN CHICO (2) had his chance in that race but will be fitter for his two runs in WA and should play a part. TAROONA BROMAC (5) has won six of his seven starts in WA and deserves his shot at a big race. SANGUE REALE (10) has enjoyed all the favours at his past two starts but draws to get the same trip and must be considered. Tips: 12 2 5 10 Suggested Bet: SHOCKWAVE (12) to win. Race 6 MIGHTY CONQUEROR (7) has won 15 of his 23 starts and was far from disgraced when 4th in the Bunbury Cup after facing the breeze. The draw makes it tough but he should still run a big race. BILL HALEY (6) needs a solid tempo to show his best in this company and should get that tonight. CAVIAR STAR (3) was an impressive last start winner and could be the value runner from this draw. THEREUGO (1) will lead this for a long way and will give them something to catch if he gets away with a cheap lead time and first quarter. Tips: 7 6 3 1 Suggested Bet: CAVIAR STAR (3) each way. Race 7 FAKE NEWS (4) resumed from a spell with a solid 4th to Taroona Bromac after starting from a wide draw. She looks well placed here and can trump this field. INFINITE SYMBOL (5) has been racing the state’s best mares and will appreciate the easier assignment tonight. DONTSTOPBELIEVIN (1) hasn’t been able to get into the race at her past three starts and should be a big improver from the pole. HAS NO FEAR (8) is the reigning WA Oaks winner and must be considered but is drawn wide for her return. Tips: 4 5 1 8 Suggested Bet: DONTSTOPBELIEVIN (1) each way. Race 8 OCEAN RIDGE (3) has led throughout to win his last two starts and looks to be on the way up. He is unlikely to find the top here but has a nice turn of foot and should be hard to beat. STEFSBEST (1) disappointed at his return but is a good frontrunner suited by the sprint trip. SERGEANT OATS (2) is racing consistently and should enjoy a lovely run in transit from this draw. CROCODILE KID (5) has won his last two starts in quick time at this trip and is ready for the rise in class. Tips: 3 1 2 5 Suggested Bet: OCEAN RIDGE (3) to win. Race 9 IDEAL LINER (2) led and was only beaten 4.5m when 5th to Galactic Star. This is a significant drop in class and he should lead throughout here. SIMBA BROMAC (6) is the other class runner and obvious danger but the draw makes it tough. ZENNART (3) ran an improved race when 4th from the breeze here last week but isn’t suited by the staying distance. ROMAN AVIATOR (4) was a good winner in weaker company here last week and can be placed with the right run. Tips: 2 6 3 4 Suggested Bet: IDEAL LINER (2) to win. Race 10 KIWI BLOKE (11) won four of his five starts back from a spell before being forced to run a 56.7 middle half last week when a brave 2nd. This looks an easier assignment and he should be able to overcome the backline draw. ROCKMENOW (5) was held up last week and gets his chance to go forward tonight and should give a sight. IDEAL INVESTMENT (4) is racing consistently and can be placed with the right run. JUST A HORSE (1) surprised when 2nd at $91 at his last start and can be in the money again. Tips: 11 5 4 1 Suggested Bet: KIWI BLOKE (11) to win. Market Market
