Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on March 14, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE ended up in the worst possible position first-up at Bunbury. Leader’s back and up against the fence which was at least 3 lengths inferior going on the day. Can improve sharply second-up and give this a shake. TINSNIP is an exciting type. Has a sharp turn of foot but will need it from that gate. WARBLER sat outside the lead on debut and fought on bravely. MARCEE A LADY ran well in that same race but will need luck. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S CONTRAIRE WIN Race 2 CAERHELAN put the writing on the wall last weekend when getting clear late and flashing down the outside behind sharp Double Bubble filly and boom horse Samizdat. Backs up off 7 days, blinkers on, Pike on, picks itself. KELLY’S CALLISTO has run into some very good juveniles in his short career. Not knocked around in either trial and can lead them up here. MINIKA will be hard to run down if she can find the fence but if she has to sit in the breeze is left a sitting duck. CUP NIGHT is dangerous from midfield. Horse worth following. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – CAERHELAN WIN Race 3 EXPRESS FLIRT and REBEL KNIGHT look to have a good 4 or 5 lengths on this field and really should open $2.20 a pair. Exciting battle between Pike and Pateman who are the two form hoops of the state. Siding with Pike who should sit forwards of midfield just off a slow tempo and pull the trigger coming for home. REBEL KNIGHT has won two races impressively with the rail out. Interesting to see where he lobs from the gate. Super hard to beat. THE ESCORT should be running into third money. YEAH BRAVO can give cheek if backing up from Wednesday. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – EXPRESS FLIRT WIN Race 4 SARACINO is a horse with issues. Has not won a race for a long time but has had tongues wagging at the trials on two occasions now and he looks like finding the fence without challenge. The rail could be his key and he gets his best chance to win one in a very long time. SEEKER and DAM READY have been running around together all preparation and there’s again nothing between them. Advantage Dam Ready with the gate. ELECTRIC LIGHT put together a picket fence through winter going through the grades at Belmont Park. Gets a winnable race but slight query on some of the form. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – SARACINO WIN Race 5 MACROY is flying at the minute and she showed last start that the tricky step from 1000 to 1200m is not going to trouble her. Looks to be a lot of speed in this race and she should be getting a cosy run midfield. If Witten gets her out, she’ll flash late. RESISTANCE has had no luck most of the campaign. Held up at crucial stages last start. Maps well here. MORE ACES gives Bonnie Palise a wonderful opportunity at a rare Metro winner. He looks ready. CHECKERS needs some luck from the draw but has run good races since joining the Tyson yard. Numbers: 4 – 6 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – MACROY WIN Race 6 ADORNMENT will not get the same luxurious trip that she did last start but she looks progressive and likely to only keep improving as the distances stretch out. The draw should make this more competitive but she should wind up over them again. ASSETRO was a good run in the 1000 Guineas behind Adornment. She looks like she’ll stay and will be coming in the three and four wide train. DARK CHOICE has the shades added and draws to sit midfield. Ran her race in patches last start but finished off well. OSIPOVA is a maiden but rolls along out in front for The Boond and can surprise a fair few. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 11 – 13 Suggested Bet – ADORNMENT WIN Race 7 REGAL POWER could be the second leg of the same obvious double as 14 days ago when Adornment and Regal Power saluted in Cerise and White within 40 mins of each other. He looks like he will stay all day and was doing his best work at the finish and though the line to win the Lex Piper. COCKNEY CREW brings an alternate form line to the table and creates interest if O’Donnell lets him roll like Hall did at Bunbury last weekend. FINAL HEARING continues to finish right on the winner’s heels and goes round at a price. FRED DAG was enormous last start but likely ends up three back the fence and will need luck. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – REGAL POWER WIN Race 8 SPECIAL DELIVERY gets a wonderful chance to win his second race from five starts this prep. The Bairstow camp are dynamite off 7 days and he drops back from the mile to his pet distance. Nothing made ground last week behind Rockon Tommy and his previous three were red rippers. TURBO POWER looks like getting it all his own way in front and can be hard to run down. TONKATUFF ran a bottler fresh after drawing soft. No such favours here. RED PUBLISHER is never far from the action but does find it hard to win in this grade, especially at Ascot. Numbers: 5 – 14 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL DELIVERY WIN Quad (Race 5 – 8) 1,4,6,8 1 1 5,14 Market Market
