Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on April 4, 2024April 4, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FLOWER IN THE WIND beat an almost identical line-up last start in a 66+ 2100 at Ascot. She drops back into a 60+ Graduation and as a result skyrockets in weight up to 60kg, however, you have to gain confidence from the fact Neville Parnham hasn’t claimed (she’s won with 59 previously) and the fact that he’s opted to run here rather than the $125,000 Geraldton Cup on Sunday where she had 57.5kg. Only 3kg from top to bottom and only a field of 7. Big chance of going back to back. SOLDANELLE is the mare Steve Parnham has jump off to stick with the favourite. She’s on the 7 day spin from an honest effort behind a flying Tin Chooks. HOIST THE COLOURS finished closest of these to Flower In The Wind most recently. PAIGEY’S TURN gets a soft run. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – FLOWER IN THE WIND WIN RACE 2 CAPITAL FLIGHT finished third behind Premium Choice and Almighty Class (beating home Street Parade) on 16 March and gets a 3.5kg weight swing on the pair with the Luke Campbell claim. Going back five starts ago he was beaten three quarters by Premium Choice and gets a 5kg pull in the weights. Off 7 days after a narrow defeat and looks ready to win one. STREET PARADE went to the line untested last week behind Laced Up Heels, Saloon Bar, Ice Almighty Class and Ice Pick Nick. Off 7 days, senior rider on and drawn to get a lovely run over the speed. SUPERSESSION is a classy get back sprinter who is in excellent form. PREMIUM CHOICE is the proven 1000m Ascot specialist but barrier 1 looks tricky. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – CAPITAL FLIGHT EACHWAY RACE 3 PLAYING GAMES resumes first-up no trial and has a lovely inside barrier to work with in a race where Krysanova/Sass Machine/Close Talker will burn turf in the early stages. Expecting that Laqdar Ramoly will track up in behind the speed and enjoy the right run into the race. One of a few winning chances. BARNEY’S WORLD is only a Kalgoorlie maiden winner, however, the day he split Zipaway and Masamune showed he’s more than capable at this level. Sharp 400m jump out win. THE BOSS LADY is likely to get back first-up over the 1000m but her recent trial suggested she’ll be motoring home late. Already a Saturday 3 year old Plate winner and has a big L600 when saved up. KRYSANOVA can be hit and miss. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – PLAYING GAMES EACHWAY RACE 4 FORTUNE’S LUCK failed to beat a runner home last start in the Fast Flicker race, however, watching the replay she was held up the entire length of the home straight and looked to have something to offer. Gets a similar run midfield with cover and hopefully this time she can get a crack at them at an eachway price. YARRALEA is honest and consistent but certainly doesn’t win out of turn. She’s won two from 27 and finished second on another eight occasions. She’ll be right there yet again and deserves to pinch one. FALCON TRADER has raced without luck this preparation and should be just about right now. FULL OF MERIT now has a set of shades. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – FORTUNE’S LUCK EACHWAY RACE 5 BUSTLING, SIR DREAMALOT and SHMOOV MOOVA will take up the vast majority of percentage in this market and they do really look the three big players in the 2024 Perth Stakes. BUSTLING was three deep the trip last start and still kept coming when second behind Siren Assault in a race where they stopped the clock 7L faster than 2 year old average. If he can work his way to the breeze here he’s a big chance. SIR DREAMALOT was one of the most remarkable drifts last start. Got in as short as $2.40 and then jumped over $8. Great win and can clearly win again. SHMOOV MOOVA has impressed on both occasions at trials and looks a ready made race horse. GOLD MAKER has talent. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet – BUSTLING WIN RACE 6 GOLDEN KATHLEEN could not have been more impressive on debut at Bunbury. She sat behind a really solid tempo and when Michael Poy pressed the button she exploded away from them to win by almost 3L eased down. 8 weeks later she’s resuming in a Gimcrack Stakes and while she’ll likely sit off them here she’s clearly got a big motor and mountains of raw ability. Big danger to the favourite. GOLDEN VALE has Pike back on, blinkers on, a barrier and lost no admirers in the Pinjarra Magic Millions when suffering her first defeat. She’s going to be understandably popular. EARTHSTORM will be rattling home again. Just wants further. SIREN ASSAULT will come out running looking for a spot. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN KATHLEEN EACHWAY RACE 7 WEAPONSON ran a big race from the back of the field in the Pinjarra Classic, was arguably the run of the race against the pattern in the Bunbury Stakes and again worked home as well as anything behind Mood Swings in the Grandstand Cup. He’s never missed the money from six attempts at the Ascot mile and he’s drawn to get all the favours. Knocking on the door. MOJO RHYTHM has been ridden close at his last few and isn’t quite letting rip with the same turn of foot. Going well enough if conditions allow them to make ground. MOOD SWINGS leads, controls and kicks hard into the corner again. ROKANORI maps well again and is back in form. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – WEAPONSON EACHWAY RACE 8 AMELIA’S JEWEL won the 2023 Roma Cup by a length in a brilliant return to racing before being beaten a nose at the hands of Overpass in the inaugural running of the Tabtouch Quokka. Fast forward 12 months and she’s added a Let’s Elope Stakes and a Stock Stakes to her incredible CV and going off her recent trial she’s in for yet another big campaign. Hard to look past her considering she’s 4 from 4 first-up and 2 from 2 at the Ascot 1100. Dangers look to be the three year old brigade OSCAR’S FORTUNE, RIPCORD and SUPER SMINK. OSCAR’S FORTUNE comes on from his run in the Bluff Knoll. RIPCORD gets back and savages the line. SUPER SMINK will be out to prove herself after a lacklustre trial performance. In the end all eyes are on the Jewel. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S JEWEL WIN Same Race Multi – Amelia’s Jewel (Win) + Oscar’s Fortune (Top 3) Amelia’s Jewel returns to the races chasing back to back Roma Cups on route to a $5m Tabtouch Quokka in a fortnights time. She’s 4 from 4 undefeated first-up, she’s 2 from 2 undefeated at the Ascot 1100 and she’s trialled well for her return. Great starting point for her and we’ll lock her in to win. Oscar’s Fortune had his colours lowered in the Bluff Knoll but can bounce back quickly, especially with Pike on. RACE 9 HALATORION has found his feet again with Michael Lane and is back in form. At his peak with Roy Rogers he reached a metro rating of m85 and in the end that was only September 2023, so considering he’s back down to a m74 there’s plenty of room for him to work his way back up through the grades. Split Rear Admiral and Ice Pick Nick last start and with another stride he wins. Maps well, placed well and runs for Luke Campbell. Hard to fault. MALKAR PINDARI resumes off the back of a strong trial win at Lark Hill. She was running consistent L600s sub 34 seconds last campaign and that makes her more than capable of zapping these. LINDEN’S GOLD looked good at trials. CROSS STATEMENT was gritty last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – HALATORION EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3,4,6,7,9 2,4,5,6,9,10 6 1,5,8 Market Market
