Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on November 16, 2023November 16, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BRUCE ALMIGHTY is going particularly well and he needs this kind of map to produce his best. He can sit leader’s back from barrier 1 and follow the every move of the pace paid Cheval De Vaga and Mountain Ash. From there he’ll get every chance and has he showed last start behind Billy Ray he’s not far away from another win and always goes round eachway. SENTIMENTAL HERO gets a considerable weight swing on him with Brayden Gaerth going on. Not disgraced at Group 3 level last start after settling last and finishing last but only 5L off Marocchino, Alesphina and Co. CHEVAL DE VAGA and MOUNTAIN ASH will take control of the tempo and both like to roll in their races. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – BRUCE ALMIGHTY EACHWAY RACE 2 SPECIAL SORT is in search of a fifth straight win and looks to get a decent run midfield with cover. Between Mack Mack and Little Silver they should march along through the middle stages and if CJP can find the right back to follow into the race then he looks like he’s found another winnable assignment. Absolutely flying since his return. This is tougher but not substantially. MACK MACK has a set of blinkers going on after a lacklustre performance last start. Back sharply in grade and must be respected. LITTLE SILVER put on a galloping exhibition at Albany and simply had to return to town off that. WANGO AWARD has a really tricky gate. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – SPECIAL SORT WIN RACE 3 STARRING KNIGHT won arrogantly at Northam in a C5 and then stepped into this 66+ company when finishing less than a length behind in form mare Amber Glide. This is a competitive race with many winning chances but last start he was drawn barrier 11 of 14 and on Saturday he’s got a much softer gate in barrier 4. If he was to land 1×1 on the back of a horse like San Fabrizio he’d be an undeniable winning chance. YONGA LASS sneaks in perfectly on the minimum and looks a Saturday mare in the making. Can’t take much from her last start win (track gallop) but the form prior behind Desennae measures up. WAR GEM and DEMOLISH are both flying but they’re drawn equally poorly. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – STARRING KNIGHT EACHWAY RACE 4 MAGNIFICENT ANDY looks a good eachway bet in. Full of respect for Alsephina but she’s got a Group One Railway Stakes to attack next weekend and will concede him 3kg as well as a headstart. Brad Parnham could nearly lead this race if he so desired, otherwise he can sit behind the speed like he did to win the Hannans Handicap when backed as if unbeatable. Flying. ALSEPHINA is a winner with 59kg and 58.5kg so the weight is no issue. Her first-up run was sound but it also forced the camp to change tact with her and head to the Peters before the Railway. Class mare. Class yard. Class hoop. BLACK FANTASY is a model of consistency. GINGER BAKER has had a remarkable preparation and continues to race well. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – MAGNIFICENT ANDY EACHWAY RACE 5 KESHI BOOM went straight past Super Smink – say no more. Was a serious victory in the Burgess Queen Stakes and provided she came out of that run in good order (only 11 days between runs) then see no reason why she won’t keep her undefeated record intact. She’s got point to point acceleration and she does everything right in her races. Exciting filly. GENEROSITY looms as the obvious danger after striking bad luck at her last two outings. Chris Parnham jumps on and likely looks to use her barrier advantage. THE BOSS LADY is a little winner and looked even sharper with shades on last week. GUARDING HEAVEN an improver at odds. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet – KESHI BOOM WIN Same Race Multi – Keshi Boom (Win) + Generosity (Top 3) Tough race to be making a profit with the favourite prohibitively short in early markets ($1.38) so we look to the Same Race Multi for a booster by adding Generosity to run Top 3. She was luckless in the Burgess Queen when stopped in her tracks on straightening. The way she picked up once getting clear suggested that she can close the gap on Keshi Boom. RACE 6 FLYING MISSILE could be one of the forgotten horses in the race. First-up last campaign she won a 72+ 1200m with 57.5kg for Brad Parnham off the back of a nice trial win. Trialled very similarly leading into this and she’s drawn to get a gun run from the inside draw. Double figures seems really juicy. BABY PARIS won the Listed Birthday Stakes off a 28 day spacing when working forward to the breeze. Apart from the fact she rises to 58.5kg here (which could be on her weight carrying limit) she looks to get near identical race conditions here. Great race for her. DUCHESS OF GOSSIP is raw and exciting. Only minor concern is barrier 1 and where she ends up. RUSTY DREAMS has a nightmare barrier to contend with. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – FLYING MISSILE EACHWAY RACE 7 MY BELLA MAE looks to get a great chance to turn the tables on both Red Can Man and Man Crush from recent encounters. Last start she was really well commissioned from a bad barrier and never got the right flow into the race having to drag across heels and go searching for clear running. If she could land leader’s back here following Man Crush then it’s game on. RED CAN MAN is again the big winner at SWP. Maps to get the same run as first-up and second-up and that makes him hard to hold out. MAN CRUSH is just a different horse when he finds the fence. Last three wins against the paint. HOT ZED can bounce back. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – MY BELLA MAE WIN RACE 8 OSCAR’S FORTUNE is four from four undefeated and given the love association that the market has with the horse (understandably so) he could well jump in the red. The doubters will say that he’s never raced beyond 1000m but he’s twice run the fastest L600 from the front so he gives every indication he’ll run 6 furlongs. He just keeps getting the job done. AUGMENT won brilliantly first-up against the older horses and then finished right alongside Super Smink and Almighty Class. Obvious danger. HANCHI has a really tough drawn to contend with. Not sure whether they go forward or back. PETULA will appreciate the speed on. Numbers: 3 – 12 – 4 – 14 Suggested Bet – OSCAR’S FORTUNE WIN RACE 9 REAR ADMIRAL has blinkers added to her gear for the first time and drops down to the 54kg minimum. She’s drawn to get a lovely run tucked away behind high speed leaders Capricorn Man, Double Spice, Sockoff and Can’t Be Done. From there she should be presenting on straightening at the perfect time. Looks a nice map for her. METALLON has shades re-attached. All five wins were with blinkers on and his first outing for Grant & Alana Williams had merit. CAPRICORN MAN is stepping up sharply in grade. Always a query on that Westspeed Platinum form. BROOKLYN PIER needs to find the right back to follow but if he does he’s got a big L600. Numbers: 13 – 6 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – REAR ADMIRAL WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2,3,4,7 4,5,6 3,4,12 2,5,6,7,9,13 Market Market
