Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on January 13, 2023January 13, 2023 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SHADDOW FEAR shouldn’t have any worries in making it two from two and retaining her undefeated tag. She sat in the breeze at 1100m on debut and was too sharp for impressive subsequent winner More Special and previous winner Home James. Drawn barrier 7 of 8 but showed excellent gate and muster speed on debut and provided she gets across expect her to justify a short price tag. ROCKET JUICE was knocked around in his trial and was never afforded the chance to balance. HAPPY AS LARRY trialled and races in Ear Muffs. Looking for further than 1200m but should hit the line. TREBLE MAKER has only had a 400m jump out and was put under pressure early but responded late. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – SHADDOW FEAR WIN RACE 2 SKY DUKE is drawn to stalk the speed behind Ruler Rocket and getting back out to 1200m looks the key to his winning chances. On a day where the Easterly is strongly in play it will be a distinct advantage to be settling on speed and if he can reproduce his run when splitting Goddess Of Giving and Revitup he’ll be hard to beat. VALSASSINA won both trials leading into her return without blinkers. Shades were attached for race day her form behind winners Bustler, Work In Progress and Hang Glider from her initial preparation held up nicely. She looks to have come back bigger and better and she’ll be popular in betting off the back of an emphatic win when parking wide and winning with arrogance. RULER ROCKET demolished them down the 1000m straight. He’ll find the top and roll. PLANET CASH broke his maiden nicely. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – SKY DUKE WIN RACE 3 STELLA FAIR lead early and then took a sit on Seeable last start. In the end that was probably the difference between winning and running second. Gets a 1kg weight swing on Seeable, is again drawn inside of him and with the additional run under her belt and the wave of confidence CJP is currently riding think he’ll look to hold up from the inside and lead this time round. She’s ready to win and gets conditions to suit. SEEABLE resumed without a trial and lumped the 60kg to victory in a gritty return. He has won with 61.5kg & 63kg on the Goldfields so there’s no reason why he can’t win again. TINSNIP can park in behind them and is suited in this grade. ASTRO WARRIOR didn’t have much go his way at his return to racing. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – STELLA FAIR WIN RACE 4 BURNYA TO SURVIVE is a beast. His closing sections evidence the fact that he will be headed to Listed and Group company in time but for now Jason Miller and connections are enjoying the ride as he works his way through the grades. He was able to defy the pattern first-up, he was able to defy the pattern second-up and he’ll need to do it again here third-up in a race with a stack of speed and an Easterly breeze blowing. Throwing All The King’s Men into the mix probably looms as his toughest test to date but he’s taken all before him so far. ALL THE KING’S MEN won a 66+ 1200m fresh last preparation when bursting through on straightening. You would think that Paul Harvey will settle at least a pair in front of Burnya To Survive in the run. Game on. NOWHITEFLAG has shades on first time but will need to jump clearly to lead these. KENYLUCK drops in weight and is a tryer. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – BURNYA TO SURVIVE WIN RACE 5 HOW’S THE SERENITY was able to cross Acromantula and Wilchino when leading and winning the Summer Scorcher. She likely look to cross Wilchino and Strathmore Rose this time in an attempt to lead and win the Miss Andretti Stakes. Provided she gets across to at least the breeze from barrier 6 of 7 she should be going close to reproducing the result, even with an extra 1.5kg on Wilchino and 2kg on Carocapo. WILCHINO was crossed and forced to take a sit last start. Thought she did a super job to show a level of versatility. CAROCAPO came back in excellent order. Looks in for a good preparation. EXPRESS TIME will keep coming in a hard and fast high pressure speed race. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – HOW’S THE SERENITY WIN RACE 6 SALOON BAR is becoming a bit of a head scratcher. He clearly has the ability but he tends to run his races in patches and is leaving himself a bit too much to do late. This is a really suitable assignment for him and a wonderful piece of placement by the Danny Morton yard. Drops from a 3 year old Plate into a 60+ Graduation and carries the same weight. If he can hold a better position in running from the more favourable draw he looks one of the main players. REBELZONE is flying. Second to talented mare Karalee Rocks, second to talented and undefeated filly Rear Admiral. Excellent form, poor draw. MAGIC TO EXCEED never looked the winner in running last start until the last 25m. Sean & Jake Casey swap visors for blinkers and hopefully it will see him travel a bit better. BREAD TO FLIRT caught the eye at her return. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – SALOON BAR WIN RACE 7 BLAZING AWAY was first-up 1400m in the Mandurah Cup when parking in behind leader and eventual winner Real Danger. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and then was left a little flat footed at the top of the straight when the sprint went on. Thought it was a solid return to racing and he’s better suited out to a mile and is drawn underneath of Real Danger here as she steps to a mile for the first time in her life. Eachway throw at the stumps at double figures. CASINO SEVENTEEN is bursting to win a race in WA. Got too far back in the Mandurah Cup from a sticky alley and is drawn another tough gate here on a day where it could be tough to make ground. Map and likely conditions vs price the only query. REAL DANGER is stepping to a mile for the first time in her life but she’s a mare in form and she’s racing with brilliant consistency. TRI FOR US looks to enjoy a gun run. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – BLAZING AWAY EACHWAY RACE 8 OUR NORMAN was a ‘be on me next start’ type of run last start. Found the front, rolled them along and then was bizarrely attacked at the 1000 by Tell Nothin’ which forced Holly Watson to again up the tempo and go for home. He travelled strongly into the straight and only faded late when finishing fourth behind Mystery Island. Looks to get his own way out in front and the way Chris Willis’ yard is going he’ll take serious running down. ROCH LEGACY was shuffled back into an awkward position in running in the same race and had to work through a lot of traffic before picking up late without any momentum behind him. He’s going really well. COOLTH won a similar race three starts ago before holding his own in the ATA Stakes. May scratch and start in the Cup? MR FAHRENHEIT has turned a corner. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – OUR NORMAN EACHWAY RACE 9 NEUFBOSC has snuck in perfectly on the minimum and meets ATA Stakes winner and pre-post equal favourite Truly Inspired 5kg better at the weights for being beaten a neck. Will need some luck to find a position in running but with Utgard Loki/Bad Wolf/Come Right Back drawn outside him also looking for positions there’s a good chance he lands three deep with cover. From there he looks a live eachway chance in an open and even Perth Cup2.0. TRULY INSPIRED got the job done in the ATA Stakes and while he’s still working it all out but he’s hit form at the perfect time. Freddie Kersley is a highly talented rider and will put him into the race when necessary. BUSTER BASH let rip in the Towton Cup and put them away on straightening. Had a 1450m trial on Monday to keep him ticking over. MYSTERY ISLAND now gains a start and brings real X-Factor and intrigue to the race. Numbers: 10 – 15 – 2 – 18 Suggested Bet – NEUFBOSC EACHWAY RACE 10 AIYZA looks well placed into this 60+ Graduation. Only three starts ago in the Listed Sir Ernst Lee Steere Classic she finished third behind Saintorio and All The King’s Men. Since then she’s raced without luck and then with weight on her back behind a nice filly in Crystal’s Dream. Drops 1.5kg, has a senior back on and is drawn to enjoy the run of the race. GALACTIC STORM trialled super and did a good job to work home into second last start behind Sunny Honey. With the apprentice rider off Galactic Storm and the apprentice rider onto Sunny Honey he concedes a massive 5kg negative weight swing for being beaten over 2L. He’s come back well and can overcome those obstacles without surprising. SUNNY HONEY is all of a sudden jumping like a gazelle after missing away at his first 6 career outings. Will he jump for the new rider? ARCADIA GRACE will need some luck. Numbers: 12 – 2 – 6 – 8 Suggested Bet – AIYZA EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 1,4,8,9 2,5,6,8,9 2,3,10,12,15,18 2,6,13 Market Market
