Warren Huntly’s Saturday Flemington Preview Posted on January 13, 2023January 13, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Plenty to learn with so many debutantes. HELLISH found the line nicely on debut and has jumped out well since. INVINCIBLE SHIELD is one of a few first starters that have looked good in his recent jumpouts. MAKENA, VEECEE and TOM KITTEN have all caught the eye at the jumpouts leading into their respective debuts. Selections: 2,3,10,8 Suggested Bet: Small bet Hellish each way Race 2 DUNKEL appears highly promising and looks suited back out to 2000m on a spacious track. His stablemate HARD TO CROSS, was no match form him last start but pulled up with a degree of lameness. BAREFOOT TORA comes through the same race, she’s a maiden but measure up ok last start. KOKONOTSU is also a maiden but he’s coming through some strong maidens and swaps winkers for blinkers. Selections: 1,2,6,10 Suggested Bet: Dunkel to win Race 3 Competitive race. FIGHTING ARROW generally hits a flat spot but is racing in good form and only narrowly missed in a similar race last start. BARRETTA has been chasing some smart ones of late and had to change course in the home straight at his latest run. PACHINO is getting deep into his first preparation but looks a promising stayer. UNIQUELY, CONFRONTAIONAL, PRICESS RHAENYA and COMMANDO DRIFT have claims. Selections: 8,6,13,17 Suggested Bet: Fighting Arrow each way Race 4 SWORDS DRAWN has caught the eye at both runs this preparation and looks well suited stepping up to 2000m. RIGHT YOU ARE is back in good form for the new stable, he’s shown some versatility in his last two wins and swaps blinkers for visors. SPIRIT RIDGE will strip fitter third up and drops back from group company. SEE MARIE is racing as though this trip will suit. TARAMANSOUR did enough fist up. Selections: 3,4,2,6 Suggested Bet: Swords Drawn each way Race 5 FORBIDDEN CITY has returned in great form and the drop back from 1500m to 1400m should be no issue. BELLE ET RICHE is an obvious danger, she had excuses behind Life Lessons two starts back and covered ground last start. RIOYUKI will strip fitter following a solid first up run, as will RUMBLED AGAIN. DAZZLING LUCY is on trial beyond 1200m but is in career best form. Selections: 2,4,9,8 Suggested Bet: Forbidden City to win Race 6 ROSE QUARTZ will be at peak fitness, she’s generally effective down the straight and will appreciate 1200m. Her stablemate VESPERTINE, has the inside draw to contend with but she’s also effective down the straight and has jumped out well to resume. WESTERN EMPIRE is the class runner, he’ll be better over further but his jumpouts for the new stable have been encouraging. PARSIFAL has trialled well between runs. HALVERSON is another that should appreciate getting back to 1200m down the straight. Selections: 8,4,1,7 Suggested Bet: Rose Quartz each way Race 7 POUNDING was well ridden to win a similar race last start, he has an outside draw to contend with but has tactical versatility. HERE TO SHOCK over raced first up, he’ll strip fitter and may relax better second up. TYPHOON HARMONY ran well behind Pounding two starts back and showed good fight to win at his latest start. AARAN BAY was below his best when ridden for cover last start, he may roll more forward. HASSELTOFF has found his good form with blinkers back on. BELTORO’S form ties in with most of these. Selections: 1,3,10,4 Suggested Bet: Pounding each way Race 8 DIAMONDS IN THE SKY was well ridden from a wide draw to score last start and will be strong late back to 1200m. KENTUCKY CASANOVA is unbeaten first up and has been jumping out well to resume. D’JUMBUCK rises in grade but was well supported when narrowly beaten first up and has jumped out nicely since. JUNGLE JIM will make his own luck and is now proven don the straight. WILLIAM THOMAS and NIKAU SPUR have claims. Selections: 8,6,9,3 Suggested Bet: Diamonds in the Sky each way Race 9 Tough finish. BRITISH COLUMBIA ran well first up and Diamonds in the Sky will provide a guide on that form in the previous race. BLOW IN is building a handy record and hit the line strongly first up 1200m. VICTORY BAY has been solid in two similar races at his last two starts. SUPARARZI is having a great preparation and his form ties in well. MISO and HESKET are right in the mix if they gain starts. Selections: 10,14,9,2 Suggested Bet: British Columbia each way Market Market
